Greetings Eurobrickers! Well, I've been planning how to word this for awhile, so here it goes!
My name is Mac-K, and it's great to have finally joined your community! I've been following here for close to two years, and I didn't join until now, honestly, because I was nervous at the thought of trying to fit in with such a close-knit group. It's also a little weird to be a total newbie, yet I feel like I know so many of you all already. But anyway, it's good to have finally shaken that uncertainty off, I'm really looking forward to getting to meet you all!
So, I suppose I ought to say a bit about myself. I'm 24, and I live in the United States, the state of Maine to be specific. Where is that, you ask? Well don't worry, a lot of my countrymen and women think we're part of Canada. I am a recent college graduate who majored in history and political science, and I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do with my education! As you can likely guess from my interest in history, my first loves in Lego were the historic themes, our beloved Castle and Pirates! I wasn't solely dedicated to them, I collected bits of the other themes as well, but they're still my sweethearts . I'm currently reeling from the news that Pirates will be paused for a time, especially when the sets are disappearing off the shelves for good and I still don't have them all! But the discovery of the 10210 Imperial Flagship more than made up for it . Giving credit where it is due, I was pulled out of my dark age many years ago (it really was a long time ago, thinking about it ) by my first sight of an upcoming Lego X-Wing in a magazine. That, was a good day, indeed.
I don't have nearly as much time for building as I'd like. In fact, I don't really build at all currently. My hope is in the next month or so to start accumulating bricks via Bricklink and try my hand at building Castle related MOC's, as creators such as DNL, RebelRock, TinyPiesRUs, and SlyOwl have thoroughly converted me with their fantastic works! Anyway, there's so many things going on here that I've kept up with; from the ridiculous hilarity of the Redcoats vs. Bluecoats in the Pirate forum (Go Blue!), to the Community Castle build and new Pirate one taking form. The great comics like Joebot's Unlikely Society and Sandy's Princess Quest, and the excellent Mystery Castle of Dragonator and the disappointingly brief Infection ! I am looking very forward to the new developments that spring up here, and I know I won't be disappointed, judging from the quality of the examples just named, and the many, many others like them. In closing, I hope I can prove to be a good member of Eurobricks, and I want to thank everyone for having me! See you all around!
