Wow, thank you for the great pictures grogall! The Castle Advent Calendar is just fantastic, hands down. The only thing I would have liked to have seen would be a special figure included for the Dragon Knights. I'm not sure what, maybe a warlord or a champion or something. Oh well, there's always the next wave for those types of figures to show up. Those Battlepacks sure look promising too, one can only hope that the quality issue has been dealt with.

Prince of Persia Theme Month Game: Chat
Mac-K replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Aww...for crying out loud. No hard feelings at all man, you were only doing your job, and you certainly did it well. I did protect you, but I'm happy to see it didn't matter. Well I'm glad that people are so enthusiastic to claim my death as their handiwork. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you again for letting me take part in this game Shadows. It was a great experience, definitely a good lesson for future Mafia games, if I'm so fortunate to be able to take part in another. -
Prince of Persia Theme Month Game: Day 3
Mac-K replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Oh my, still alive... And still not one Nizam caught and slaughtered. I am sorry to see so many people ganged up on Dragonator. I blocked him the first night in our battle against the Nizam, but after the revelation of Grand Vizier Shadir that we hadn't blocked any of them either, it was evident I could trust him. I was amongst those protectors who fled last night in the face of the many more who turned up to end our poor merchant friend. Good gods...what a terrible way to go. Penetration by carrot?! Have these fiends not a sliver of decency?! Like others have voiced, I fear we are all being played by a higher force here. How can we not have even gotten one of them yet? Surely there would be more than just one or two of them, lest they got destroyed in one swoop. I just don't know... -

Prince of Persia Theme Month Game: Day 2
Mac-K replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
My gods...still alive? I can't believe it. I wish I had something to share, that would help in our battle against the Nizam. If only there were some safe way to reveal the identities of any survivors who were blocked! Considering the words of our most benevolent Grand Vizier Shadir, we were unsuccessful in even blocking a Nizam, let alone killing one. I can't see any way that revealing such information would be helpful though, except maybe to our insidious enemies. -
Oh, good topic! Of all the space ships I've ever owned, there's only one I can think of that I enjoyed so much: What more needs to be said about a group of space cops who didn't bother with engines, instead propelling their ships with sheer badass-ery alone? In all seriousness though: -Awesome color scheme -Concealable laser cannons -Laser beam jail cell -An inexhaustible swoosh factor Yeah, this little ship is a whole lot of win.

Nice review jansued, thank you! Already possessing the old Turbo Tank, I can't see myself picking this one up on my budget. Even if I had the money, I have to say, I think the older one was done better. I can't get over how wrong those axles look on the tank. I don't have a problem with the yellow on the interior. I mean, that color is frequently used in mechanical areas of operation to denote warning and such, it looks fine. Besides that though, this set should make a good buy for those who missed out on the first one. Oh, and like everyone else is stating, the mini-figs are brilliant! Aayla in particular looks fantastic. I really hope we see that Twi'lek head mold kept around for any future Jabba's Palace related sets.

Well, I was able to catch Iron Man 2 last night. I was really excited for this movie, so I'm not pleased that I feel compelled to give it a meh. Now, I don't believe in having a concrete opinion on movies from just one viewing, so I almost always see a film a second time before forming any permanent feelings about it (unless it's straight up god-awful, which can happen). Nevertheless, here are some first impressions I had about this much anticipated movie. SPOILER WARNING TO ANYONE WHO HAS NOT SEEN IRON MAN 2 YET! First and foremost, I'd like to say it was entertaining. Regardless of any problems I had with it, it was still at least fun to watch. Now, onto the issues I had. Probably my biggest concern was the overall flow of the movie. It just didn't move along well. I'm really not sure how to word this properly, but the story just didn't seem fluid to me. Maybe others will notice this, maybe not. The next issue I had was with the love story between Tony and Pepper. Now, I'm not saying one way or the other if a love story should have been in the movie. I think it could have been told without one just as easily as it could have been told with one. That being said, the love story in Iron Man 2 feels incredibly short and just forced for the heck of it. Obviously, we always get the hint of Tony's feelings for Pepper, but then it kind of comes up out of nowhere. After realizing what a tool he's been in general, he buys some strawberries and tries to tell her that he loves her. And then there's a kiss at the end of the movie. That's really about it. This element was just poorly done, I have to say. Either make it good, or don't bother with it at all. And they didn't even include the part from the trailer with Pepper kissing and then tossing Tony's helmet to him as he jumps from the plane saying "You complete me"! What's up with that?! What can I say, I really liked that part. Now, my other problem with the movie; the characters/actors. The mainstays from the first were generally still good. And I liked Don Cheadle as Rhodey more than Terrence Howard. The villains though...eh. Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko was...okay, I suppose. His character didn't inspire much to hate though, and it got pretty irritating how he just kept mumbling "You lose" and other barely intelligible lines in pretty bad Russo/English. I have to say, I think Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane made a slightly better villain. His ruthless, corporate persona just seemed more creepy. Vanko never creeped me out. Now, maybe they intended him to be like this, but I absolutely could not stand Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer. His character never ran out of ways to annoy me. Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff was alright. I think we all know why she was added; to look hot, and then look even hotter kicking bad guy patootie in a tight suit. Fair enough, mission accomplished. Samuel L. as Nick Fury just doesn't do it for me. My issue there, is that no matter what movie he's in, his personality always comes across the same. No matter what, I always see and hear Jules. Eh, oh well... Now, what does that leave? This movie does a lot well. The action is still flat out sweet, and seeing War Machine in action made me smile nonstop. Also, seeing Tony and Rhodes duke it out to Daft Punk's Robot Rock was INCREDIBLE. Robert Downey Jr. still does great with the funny, arrogant wit of Tony Stark. Also, if you don't get goosebumps watching Iron Man diving through the fireworks in the beginning, there's something wrong with you. Seriously. END SPOILERS! Anyway, I certainly don't regret buying my ticket, it was fun. I'm already planning on when to see it again, hopefully formulate some more solid opinion on the movie. I do recommend seeing this, though I don't think I'll have to convince many here, considering how anticipated this flick is. Oh, and make sure you wait until the end of the credits, there is something at the very end!

Prince of Persia Theme Month Game: Day 1
Mac-K replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Hmm...one takes a brief nap, and the chaos of random accusing flies about so soon. I suspect ill and bloody times for us innocent, ordinary folk to arrive most quickly. We can only hope that through this madness and paranoia, our random strikes at the suspected Nizam will bear some fruit. Judging from Grand Vizier Shadir's apt description of our adversaries, it seems they favor the tactic of annoying their victims more than anything. If only this trait didn't give us so many possible choices already... -
Prince of Persia Theme Month Game: Rules and Players

Reporting to root out the Nizam! Thank you for the opportunity Shadows. I'll try my best to pull something together for an avatar. Not having my Lego on hand with me = lame. -
Thank you for this epic review White Fang! I can't wait for these to begin showing up in the States. I'd have to say my favorite is by far the Forestman, I just can't pass on that Errol Flynn-esque look.

Thank you for the review daoudbazaar! This set is certainly worth picking up. I have to say though, that last picture of the jester is depressing as hell.

Wow, this is really something, Etzel. This MOC is absolutely full of good stuff. I'm really a fan of the contrast between the outside and inside of the building, the outside being more simple compared to the very ornate nature of the inside. The dark brown wood work inside, in addition to all the colorfulness of the tapestries and carpets just looks fantastic. I also like seeing the different nationalities at action here. Your Swedish Carolean army is a great alternative to look at, compared to the somewhat typical Red and Blue Coat representation of British and French troops. The Ottoman troops look neat as well with that fez/tire combo for the headgear. However, what really makes this MOC so great for me is the history it displays. As far as Swedish history goes, I'm pretty familiar with Gustavus Adolphus, but I'd never heard of this particular incident. Just the fact that the Swedish army ended up in Moldavia is kind of crazy itself. The details like the barricade being made of barrels filled with frozen water is pretty interesting too, and the frustrating fact that the only liquid available to fight the blaze was incendiary itself. Thanks for the history lesson, and excellent job Etzel!

Prince of Persia Theme Month Game: SIGNUP!
Mac-K replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I know I'm rather new, but I would be very grateful for a chance to partake in this game. -
Incredible review of an equally incredible set, ZO6. This set made such an epic Christmas gift way back, especially in the days before the Internet when you didn't have all these months of foreknowledge about upcoming sets. Aquazone was such an exotic introduction to the Lego world, I still get fascinated just taking in the set designs and the incredibly bold color scheme. Thank you for sharing!

Incredible work here hippotam! The clock tower itself is just beautifully detailed, the decal for the clock face looks great! And then of course there's all the stuff happening around it that makes this scene so appealing. I'd have to say my favorite of the details is the troupe of Forestmen marching out from the tower. You can never get enough of those guys. Nicely done!

Thanks for the review CopMike! This review just about confirms what I already knew; that Kingdoms is fantastic and I definitely plan on picking up at least one of every set from the line up. I was kind of bothered by the amount of chains on the Dragon Knight at first, but honestly it just looks badass, and I'm loving it now. Anyway...I'm very pleased with the Dragon Knights, and the Clown Lion Knights look suitably dorky. They'll make good incompetent bad-guys, I think. Can't wait for these to start hitting the shelves!

Thank you for the early preview CopMike! Since I missed out on the last Slave 1, I'll be getting 8097 for certain. But even if I hadn't, I'd still get this set. Boba is simply fantastic, easily the coolest mini-fig from Lego recently, IMHO. One thing I don't understand is the problem some people had/still have about this new one looking 'too detailed'. Yet, there was almost universal praise for the Cloud City Fett with his rather detailed leg and arm printing. Eh, to each their own. His facial expression looks suitably badass, and very useful for people in need of a variety of flesh faces. Oh, Bossk and Han look good too. Looking forward to your completed review of this set, CopMike.

Hi Sandy, I just wanted to take a moment to say what a great job you have done with this story, from Princess Quest up to this point. I've followed it since I was a lurker, and it is really impressive to see how you have developed as a story teller and MOC builder. This installment brought something I wasn't quite expecting, particularly in the last two panels. The final comments by Urda and Verda leave me feeling...concerned? Something about Urda's declaration seems rather dark to me. I could be wrong, no doubt. But it's an interesting twist for these two characters. I'm loving Xulda's gang of friends, I hope that they'll stay around for awhile. Oh, and who wouldn't be looking forward to the Blood Knight? I can't wait until your next installment Sandy, keep up the awesome work!

Thanks for the pic metalandi! This looks like a neat little set, I'll definitely pick one up if I come across any. That dark pearl used for the armor of the Dragon Knights is just gorgeous.

I really, really, really hope that they don't mess this game up. After the disaster of Aliens vs. Predator, I would be thrilled if they got this right. If the multi-player is as good as Mr. Tieger says it will be, I can finally put away Modern Warfare 2 for a good loooong time. I can't wait to find out more of the Transformers they put in, it was pretty encouraging to hear him talk about the inclusiveness they wanted to achieve. Oh, and while I can't imagine they would do such a thing, if I can't play as Soundwave....instant boycott.

This is nice little build Penguin, very Goblin-esque! I love those claw pieces used on the walker's legs, they look quite menacing. I also definitely see this being used for conflict when not in mining operations. I can envision those legs doing some nasty work on any Dwarven intruders. Just going off topic real quick, I also wanted to compliment you on your Goblin mini-figs, Penguin. They are absolutely brilliant, I'd have to say they are my favorites of your custom Castle figs! Keep up the great work!

This is brilliant! Eldorado Fortress is my absolute favorite Pirate set, and this rendition of it in micro form is just incredibly accurate! Excellent job Pellaeon!

This is incredible work Kris! There is so much in this MOC to love! The detailing on the building is great, especially the dark red used for the intricate brick work. The vehicles are great as well, I especially like that patrol car. Elliot Ness and his crew just look fantastic. I love the Kevin Costner movie, and I could instantly tell who each of the four are, especially Oscar and Malone. Again, just awesome work Kris, thank you for sharing!

I'm very happy with these great quality Adventurers reviews you've been producing ZO6, I hope you plan to continue with them. This was another set that interested me, yet it managed to elude me as well. I have to say that I really like the vehicle in this set. The low-riding roadster-style of the car is just plain cool. I love the adaptability of that chassis piece in creating different vehicles. The tomb itself is quite nice, and offers a fair amount in play features, something Adventurers never failed at it seems. I was also impressed at the different colored sarcophagi Lego produced just for this one theme. Red, black, and tan with printing if I remember correctly. A good assortment for a rather large piece, I think. Anyway, nicely done ZO6, thank you for sharing!
