  1. Cool, but please resize your images. They're too large to view in a single screen and the file sizes are larger than necessary. There's been a lot of discussion about this lately. http://news.lugnet.com/general/?n=52969 -Steven
  2. These sets are great!!! Both the Y-Wing and AT-ST are sooo much better than the old versions! :'-) I was especially worried about the AT-ST after seeing the version from the Star Wars II game, but I like this one a lot. Plus, we get an AT-ST driver! *y* As for the army builder sets - AWESOME. We get shock troopers, real weapons and lots of minfigs at a reasonable price point! I'm starting to believe that Lego IS listening (At least to some of the community's requests.) Now we just need a Stormtrooper set just like the clonetrooper set with a sandtrooper, a classic stormtrooper and two snowtroopers. Not sure about Grievous' fighter, but I didn't like it that much in the movie either. All around, one of Lego's better efforts for Star Wars. -Steven
  3. You know, I actually like it. The hull's way too big for a minifig fireboat, but it's red and now can be remade into the classic "Atlantic" from 6542 a lot easier, like in phoinix' thread about the remake with the police boat. I almost think the hull is too small. Lego fireboats should be more like set 4031. Seems like Lego didn't put much design thought into this one. It looks like they just took the police boat hull, painted it red, added some some slopes and water guns and called it a fireboat. Again, set 4031 showed a lot more design thought. Real life fireboats are sooo much more interesting. Let this fireboat and other real fireboats be the inspiration. -Steven Edit: Fireboat link corrected.
  4. Yeah, the 4-wide planes just looked silly next to any 6-wide vehicle. :-| I use both planes - the smaller ones as private jets and the larger ones as commercial airlines. I just wish the newer planes weren't quite so <insert that tiresome argument>... Not that it needs to be like 10177, but it would be nice if the nose wasn't just one big piece. -Steven
  5. I forgot about the disappointing hospital set. :-( If it has to be on a raised baseplate, hopefully the fire station will be more like the police station. Or, even better, more like this set -Steven
  6. Agreed. They need to keep expanding the theme. Airport and the new tower crane were steps in the right direction. Also, city isn't just for kids. A lot of AFOLs are fire/rescue fans. There are three mutual-aid groups (IALFD, LMFD, LFD) with dozens of members each, several fire-themed websites, and a lot of top builders on Brickshelf have rescue themes (Pierre Normandin, Brian Gallant, etc.) The 2004 fire station was pretty disappointing, while the LARGER police station has stayed on the 25 best-seller list (at least in the U.S.) So at that price point, maybe we'll get a larger, better designed fire station. I'm hoping for a fireboat station. ;-) -Steven
  7. Speaking for the large number of AFOL fire/rescue fans I'm glad they're continuing with the newer fire theme. It's been great since 2004. *sweet* Both the 7046 Fire Command Craft and the 7239 Fire Truck are widely considered to be among the best fire/rescue sets ever released by Lego. Both were well designed with very little juniorization. So, IMHO, it's been a good theme for Lego getting back to it's roots of quality town building sets (including the new tower crane *wub* ) It's been so much better from the "Town Jr." sets we were getting in 1999. While not as popular as Star Wars, castle or Mecha, fire/rescue MOCs consistently rank among the most popular Brickshelf uploads in terms of folder hits and sheer number of files. And my kids always rank the fire and police sets on the top of their Christmas lists. And I can't wait to see the new Star Wars sets! Finally we get a redesigned AT-ST! *sweet* -Steven
