If they're due for a release towards the beginning of the year, then they're almost certainly far enough in the design process. If they weren't it would be unlikely they'd be ready in time for their release date. And they didn't reveal the entire wave of Mixels at Comic-Con, just three sets (Flain, Volectro, and Seismo).

They were indeed! I'm not thinking that a reveal at Comic-Con is a foregone conclusion or anything like that. But it's certainly a possibility, especially since a revived BIONICLE is likely to be at least somewhat media-driven. If it's not revealed at Comic-Con, then chances are the first official teasers will show up either in November/December (if it's due for a January release) or at Toy Fair (if it's due for a mid-year release). Of course, we'll probably start seeing or hearing about additional leaks well before then.

I wouldn't call Legends of Chima a permanent theme. It doesn't surprise me that it's getting at least a three-year run, but it will certainly end eventually, as most non-evergreen themes do. I'd love to see another reboot of Blacktron and Space Police. They're classic adversaries — one might even say timeless. A Galidor reboot would be interesting, just considering how poorly-executed the original run was. It could be quite cool as a minifigure-based theme instead of a constraction theme. But since it wasn't well-loved even when it was new there's really no incentive for the LEGO Group to bring it back.

I'm getting cracks in the bows and holders
Aanchir replied to Prince Manic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Cracks in cheese slopes are a well-known and relatively widespread issue, but the sheer number of your bricks that have cracked seems extraordinary. Everyone else who has recent sets with these sorts of parts should probably check them. If it does turn out to be a widespread issue in recent sets, the LEGO Group needs to know. -
Oh! I forgot a funny one that I actually saw before the movie came out (in a teaser clip). The dry cleaners that Emmet goes to before the movie is called "Torsos & Legs Dry Cleaning".

I recently watched The LEGO Movie in HD, pausing to catch a lot of easter eggs. Here are some I found: That's just a handful that I can remember. There are lots and lots more!

I enjoyed "The Saga Begins" (parody of "American Pie") during my childhood. Memorized it at summer camp one year. Still hilarious to this day. Weird Al also did a fantastic job in his guest appearance as Cheese Sandwich in the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic episode "Pinkie Pride". I burst out laughing when he sang the chorus of Pinkie Pie's "The Smile Song"! I'm not a huge Weird Al fan, but I definitely have respect for the guy as one of the best musical parodists of my time.

It's already in the guidelines: "We cannot produce new LEGO parts molds, new cloth or other non-brick elements within the scope of LEGO Ideas, and therefore we don’t accept projects that include these items. New colors are okay, but Please only propose existing elements, as well as stickers and printed parts."

They're available in Brickjournal Volume 2, Issue 6 which I can't recommend enough. Lots of amazing insights into the early days of LEGO Space! This Brickshelf gallery also has the images.

Like this or this. Things that go on top of an ordinary shell to add detail.

I think it's unlikely — after all, even with minifigures, the Hero Factory building experience is one of its most distinctive traits. If Hero Factory were to continue, I think it would still have to be primarily a constraction theme. There is, however, a possibility that one might be more Technic-intensive than the other.

I don't know which parts you're thinking of other than the hero core, since most other parts like helmets just have shapes that could just as easily be interpreted as an oddly-shaped bolt. And yes, I'd say that a lot of BIONICLE parts WOULD look out-of-place in lots of applications. It's hard to use Kalmah's armor shells or faceplate any place you don't want that squid-skin texture (at least, not where it will still match the aesthetic of the MOC), and there were lots and lots of single-piece weapons with extremely elaborate shapes and detail that made them hard to use, such as Skrall's shield, Toa Mahri Hahli's claw, the squid launcher, or any of the Piraka weapons. Hero Factory weapons generally tend to be made of multiple smaller parts, not huge one-piece monstrosities. Of course, the weapons of the first wave of heroes (before the new building system) included several terrible exceptions. DeeVee has already confirmed that it's near-impossible for somebody to get photos taken down from Flickr using a copyright claim without proof of ownership. So are you saying Exxtrooper is in on the hoax?

I wouldn't be surprised if it got announced at Comic-Con, especially since it's likely going to have a strong multimedia component. But then again, I don't think other story-driven themes like Ninjago or Legends of Chima had any presence at Comic-Con before their respective release dates. I think the LEGO Group sometimes likes to keep their in-house brands close to their chest until shortly before release to prevent competitors from playing follow-the-leader.

Possible, but keep in mind that Mixels has more tribes in general (nine total). So in that case it's not a choice between a brown tribe OR a yellow tribe OR a tan tribe OR an orange tribe — it can have all four. In a theme with fewer tribes, that choice is more likely to arise and the LEGO Group would have a strong incentive to go with the color that is backed up with the strongest sales history. I wouldn't complain if brown did come back. It's a nice color. But I also wouldn't complain if stone characters continued to use brighter colors. A bright orange or dark orange Pohatu wouldn't look too bad.

That's probably the most likely scenario if Hero Factory continues. It's unlikely that the two themes could coexist if they were both roughly the same sort of robot action figure with elaborate elemental fantasy weapons. If one is a mecha-based theme, though, that could be enough to keep them from cannibalizing each other's sales. It's also possible that Hero Factory will end next year, possibly after a final half-year wave. No way to say for sure unless we start seeing more info related to next year's sets.

Even so, what frustrates me about many taller models is that they often feel so awkward and gangly, like the Toa Inika. Most of the extra height is in the length of the legs, not in the torso. Now, it can still be made to work. CHI Worriz has proportions that are very similar to your model, and I think that's a wonderful-looking set (though to be fair, he's supposed to look a bit monstrous). In any case, I think making those proportions the benchmark for a typical Toa should be avoided. I was a bit doubtful about that, but I just checked that and you're right. Even the Creator mini sets stopped using canisters just this year. Personally, I don't mind, though. Canisters were flashy but I much prefer the creative things being done lately, such as the Hero Factory pouches, the Friends packages with the beveled edges, and the new Speedorz packages for this year that have really elaborate shapes all formed from the same folded cardboard as your typical box. Even if plastic canisters are in fact gone for good, I think we'll continue to see all kinds of innovation in the years to come. It's not like a set's shelf presence is any less important today than it used to be.

Personally, I'm gonna miss the bags. Simply brilliant on a functional level. There's never been another type of LEGO package quite so convenient for me.

Here's my own attempt from a while back, though obviously you can ignore the Hero Core. I imagine if Tahu were to appear in a Toa Mata–sized set today, he'd be more complex than this, though. This one was designed to use 33 pieces, same as the original, but I imagine that if Tahu came out this year or next he would be a $10 set and would include between 40 and 50 pieces. This was also designed to use parts in existing colors — a set would be able to include new recolors, not to mention new molds. The two Tahu MOCs I've seen in this topic are rather tall. Personally, I'd prefer if new Toa kept to a smaller size of around 7 inches or 18 centimeters like the original Toa Mata or Toa Nuva, as well as most small Hero Factory figures. No reason to stretch things to the proportions from the medium-size Breakout sets, or worse yet, the proportions of Toa Inika sets.

It is definitely a very cool way to introduce BIONICLE's legend. It is a bit similar to Ninjago's "Long before time had a name...", but Ninjago hasn't really used that lately.

It's also entirely possible that the character design in the set was created before his personality was well-established. It's normal in a lot of LEGO media for the product designs to come before the story is completely settled on. It's hardly the only inconsistency between LEGO TV shows and the sets they're based on. In the LEGO Ninjago cartoon, Kai lacks the distinctive facial scar of the Kai minifigure, and Nya has never had the red makeup around her eyes from the original Nya minifigure (the Samurai X minifigure omitted this on its new angry expression, and the new Nya minifigure lacks it entirely). Also, Lloyd's Golden Ninja costume in the show is just that — a new costume — while in the sets his face becomes gold and the shape of his eyebrows becomes more stylized, much like the NRG minifigures from the 2012 spinner sets. Perhaps most strangely, Sensei Wu never wore his costume from the 2012 and 2013 Ninjago sets at any point in the show.

He could still be an entirely new Tahu-ish character, the same way Lhikan was in 2004. There's no reason to assume ANY of the figures in the leaked images are or aren't existing characters at this point, since we know nothing about the story that will accompany these sets.

No telling whether the set will end up looking like that, but it's certainly a top-notch drawing! Easily the best drawing you've done, from what I've seen!

I dunno. I guess if there's enough hype and you have actual BIONICLE fans out looking for them we might see pictures sooner, but the constraction category as a whole has always been the red-headed stepchild of the LEGO brand as far as most AFOLs are concerned. I guess we have to wait and see.

No, that's completely bogus. BZPower doesn't get ANY funding from LEGO whatsoever. The site owners pay for it either using funds generated through the sale of premier memberships or out-of-pocket. How in the world did you come up with that completely ridiculous assumption? That policy has been off the books for about a year now.

This set includes silver parts, which due to their reflective nature can represent an infinite number of possible shades of grey. Therefore, mathematically, it should sell infinitely more copies than 50 Shades of Gray. You can double-check my math but I am fairly certain you will arrive at the same result.
