  1. A larger engine section was something I worked on in my follow-up ship, the Candescent
  2. Thanks. I designed with quite simple geometry and then stuck to certain 'rules' with the colour scheme and I think it turned out quite nicely.
  3. 'Brown' is the old, now discontinued colour that was replaced with 'reddish brown' around 2004 time. 'Dark brown' is a relatively new colour and is actually the colour of the hairpiece there.
  4. Here's another I made a while ago. it's undergone some slight tweaks since I took this photo though.
  5. I apologise that the pictures are a bit rough.
  6. I really like the concept of it but I am tempted to go back to the drawing board to be honest. The mismatched grey arms and skirt to the blue on the torso is just bugging me too much, which is a shame as I think the technique itself is perfect. I could get over the dark bluish grey colour if it wasn't for the torso printing. I tried it with just a regular guard torso (which has the tiniest bit of yellow printing as you can see in my other picture), but that didn't look great either. I think I just need to wait patiently until Lego releases a sand blue skirt piece which could be a while.
  7. ideally there would be a blue skirt piece available for the captain but unfortunately dark bluish grey is the closest i could find. I still think these figs resemble their on-screen counterparts far more then the official versions do though. Very happy with these.
  8. thoughts?
  9. Can I suggest taping over the print you want to keep and then using a q-tip and nail varnish to remove the rest. I've had a lot of success with this method. Out of interest what did you use that damaged the plastic so much?
  10. Thank you but this is the original version. I am asking if such a thing exists for the newer versions with the redesigned legs.
  11. Kudos on such a fantastic build. I am very interesting in building one of these for myself as others have done in this thread. Is there a parts list and instructions for the updated versions or does it only exist for the original? I prefer the new legs and would rather build it with those.
  12. I wonder if you could achieve a better effect using click hinges to achieve the angle and plates to build the fins.
  13. Very nice work. Is it to scale with any other ships? I think you've captured the shape of the nose very well and I have seen quite a few customs of this ship struggle to do that. This ship takes me back to Battlefront 2, they were the weak ships that got taken out after two minutes of battle. One thing that does stick out is the radar and antennae pieces in the centre. I don't know if they are accurate to the official ship but they look a bit like Peter Griffin plunger nipples and are a bit of a distraction at the moment.
  14. Hello again :) That's an excellent idea thanks very much for your recommendation. I have slightly new design that would need me to rework some of the connections to the leg but should end up stronger. Only 6 years after I started I should finally have this model finished :D

  16. It's a definitely a clever design but I just think the blocky look will detract from the smooth and relatively stoodless look of the original model. Thanks for the idea though :)
  17. First of all, sorry to give this thread an almighty hoof from the dead. Anyway I am trying to salvage some of my Lego collection and always had a soft spot for this model after I designed it. Generally I was never that good a MOCer and I felt that this was reflective of my best work. I am trying to accumulate the parts to rebuild this but I have discovered that the dome pieces I used for the head are only (and sparsely) available in old grey and not bluish grey. I have been rummaging around the web for the past few days looking at alternative techniques to make spheres that A. would accommodate the technic connection seen in the pictures and B. is available to use in light bluish grey. The dome structure TLC used for the official Homing Spider Droid just didn't look that great to me and I was very happy with the original pieces I used, despite the scale of the head being slightly too small. Alas, if worst comes to worst I could always rebuild the thing in old colours but for my own sense of satisfaction I would rather a model with up-to-date pieces.
  18. Dead in the water?
  19. Thanks, I will check that out
  20. After not posting for years I have returned to find the community I liked so much in tatters. Xwingyoda and Vader have departed and the TIE Army (which I started ) has gone. The community is dead and it deeply saddens me to see the forums in this state. I really do not know what to say, I remember the good old days, when there were only a few hundred members but the community was, in my honest opinion, one of the best on the internet. Would just like to say thank you to everyone involved in that community, and remember the good times. SK
  21. Sets seem a bit hit and miss really. Dislike the Clone Wars figures but the sets seem cool. The tank looks good for parts if nothing else (I prefer my custom one :D). I actually like the look of Anakin's ship from the Clone Wars movie, I think i am in the minority
  22. A merry christmas to all Eurobrickers.
  23. I can't wait to see this. I am already in love with SLJ signiture line.
  24. This is great news for both collecters and people who play with lego. The chrome-y colour will look more accurate and the ones from the Republic Gunship will still be worth the same amount of money. As a player then I think the dull IG88 chrome would be perfect (although admittedly I haven't even seen that fig in person).
