No sorry for the confusion let me explain: I was under the impression that the standard shipping cost was $45 for each item over the value of $250, hence i thought that if i bought 10 ships the postage would be 10 x $45 = $450 just to post them out, that being the reason i was kicking up a fuss and trying to find way around it. As it happens $45 is the maximum they will charge for a delivery order over $250 (not per item) which is great news, so i've bought 12 IFS's with the express postage cost of $100 for all 12 ships to be delivered although i forgot to add a pirate battle pack into my order so i'll be giving them a ring in the morning...... However if i do get pulled up by TLG for ordering the same set multiple times, i'll let you know

Also it means we have a different style of ship to make i.e. japanese "junk" ships, which dont look too difficult to build (can avoid using proper lego hulls which im lacking at the moment)....... i'll try and have a go at building one for an at sea battle between the two sides, should be fun!..... dont worry im a firm pirates fan - i'll thrash the ninja ship with a BSB or an SES for good measure Although im surprised lego didnt release the ninja line with a desent sailing ship - lets behonst the "shoguns vessel" 3050 isnt a particularly good ship; it has no mast/sails... just oars... its basically a large dinghy for crossing ponds Afterall Lego did release the 6057 "Sea Serpent" for the Dark Knight Castle line (1992) which looked pretty good and quite a few people have MOC'd it for that matter. I just wish the ninja sets werent so rare and expensive!! lol

is that $45/100 for combined shipping, because i was under the impression it was $45/100 standard for each set okay......... i just tried what you said .... and it comes up as still being either $45 standard or $100 express for all 10 sets...... DOH!!! (feeling like a monumental prat right) okay im placing an order right now! thank you everybody!!!!!! (especialy Svelte) also note..... $100 postage by TLG is cheaper than some of the qoutes ive been getting from curriers (when youre posting several items at least) lol AAAHHHHHHH so much more releived now - Cheers

If I was only getting 1 set then i agree its not a big an issue, im getting 10 (maybe more)... so thats $450-550 down the drain... which is just cruel :pir-skull: as for retailers: ive been told directly from toys r us they wont be getting this set and further more, this is the response i got from TLG when asking about store availability for the 10210 in Australia: Dear Sir/Madam, Thanks for getting in touch with us. The LEGO® set you ask about is only sold through Shop at Home and through our own LEGO shops. Maybe the easiest way to get hold of it is to go to www.LEGOshop.com, or call one of our experts. It's free to call our experts on: Tollfree: 1800 683 100 for Australia and 0800 534 643 for New Zealand. Opening Hours: Monday through Friday 9am - 5pm AEST. Actually, we sell all sorts of LEGO toys through Shop at Home, and we're always changing what's there. You'll find brand new sets, exclusive toys and accessories, and every fortnight there's new special offers. Brilliant! Please get in touch again if you need anything else (you'll need to remind me of the reference number on this letter). Happy building! Gitte Russell LEGO Direct that phone number (for aust) is the one ive been ringing repeatedly without answer... DAMN YOU TLG!!

Very nice, i always wondered what they'd look like side by side, and now i know - i'd need to take the tops of the masts down to fit a 10210 into my cupboard with all my other ships thats one tall baby yeah.. but the other 2 dont count
-
wow that does not sound promising at all , i'll try the S@H address as well. I guess im really waiting on getting a call back from lego/S@H customer service for more info and if it can be done, but they're taking their sweet big behind time just doing that....
-
cheers i figured it would be somewhat similar to the 8421 crane so those measurements are quite close ive done some google mapping.. and wikimaping the lego warehouse is located: Lincoln St and Lloyd Rees Drive Lane Cove NSW 2066 not as easy as you think to find.....
-
hay everyone, im thinking of ways to get around paying the somewhat steep postal charges for buying the 10210 and indeed the national postal service .... being a somewhat collector id rather not have this set crushed etc. Anyway one of the ideas is to hire a currier to pick them up from the warehouse but i need to know the dimensions and weight of each carton, so to those of you who are fortunate to get one so soon *ENVIOUS!!* could you please fill me in? - cheers. oh and could you make the measurements in metric i.e. cm's and kg's lol thanks Also does anyone know the address of the lego warehouse in Sydney??
-
YOINK!! im gonna borrow these for an MOC!!
-
lol very nice, Pierre had better watch out... 150 people die each year from falling coconuts when i first saw that pirate minifigure face on the BBB i straight away gave him the telescope....... and made sure it was aimed at the wench on board.... priceless P.S. nice idea with the tree-vine, very jungle-esque (cant say i've ever seen that before either)

I was playing an old PS2/PS1 game by the name of Tenchu (there are 4 or 5 accross the platforms) - its essentially a Japanese stealth assassin game, its fantastic in many ways, especially the very gory stealth killing methods used :pir-skull: Anyway, in some of scenes/missions there are references to spanish invaders, who arrive by boats, which have cannons and the invaders... LOOK LIKE PIRATES!!! So I looked into it a little bit more and found that pirates and samurai/ninjas co existed through the 15-1700's (although the ninjas/samurai have been around for a hell of a lot longer than that) and according to wikipedia the introduction of firearms to Japan occured when a portuguese ship blew off course into Japan. Note: The two periods of interest are the Azuchi-Momoyama (1568 to 1600) and the somewhat more famous Edo period (1603 - 1868) Soooo long story short, perhaps we should consider making dioramas using both pirates and ninja sets afterall ninja sets do come with their own guns and swords.... and im sure we can lend them a cannon or two Im gonna start on a little diorama as i only have one or two sets from the ninja theme, and i'll upload a couple of pics later. Let me know what you think of this idea (and if it has already been thought of in a different thread.... appologies ) Okay here we go, it may be a little crude but you get the idea.

thanks for the support everyone, glad you like it wow using dirty pieces for a realistic /rustic look that is good thinking *puts away old toothbrush and bowl of warm water* I did aim/move a desk lamp to help with lighting so you could see inside the hull a bit better. If there are any changes i'd make it would be to do more elegant side and bow railings but i would ned to get a few more white/black cones. as these decorative all be it small pieces are the first things you'll loose as a child growing up with lego as im sure you know Yeah I was on a bit of break (understatement), it wasnt until August last year that i saw some white lattice windows on ebay plus a few other bits that i needed to complete one of my other ships (my master piece, called The Aquila D'oro funnily enough) so i was able to continue with that project. however i got quite a few hull sections and masts amongst all the bidding etc so i decided to do a couple of MOC's. this one being the first i think. Unfortunately i got new inspiration from pics of the imperial flagship so not to be out done by TLG im making the Aquila D'oro into a complete double decker (at the moment it has walk ways down the sides like the BSB), im in the process of totaling up the parts for a large bricklink order(s). although i have gotten a little side tracked lately.... i.e. buying all the 2009 pirates as well as older ship sets from eBay over Xmas ... i think im up to 13 ships in total - most of which are just multiples of original older sets. and i still havent gotten round to buying the imperial flagship yet Meow??

My last and final Brickbeard's Bounty MoD! (Thanks, Rick!)
Aquila D'oro replied to Ivan K.'s topic in Pirate MOCs
lol i just spotted the swords down the sides of the bow, NICE!! the decks are the real show stopper here though they look amazing - excelent colour selection -
i think they also re-issued the large enchanted island set too (it is a pretty cool set actually).... not sure why they did the red beard runner over the SES though, that is a little strange. i havent even bothered to get a single RBR and yet i have multiple BSB's and SES's, you think lego would like some more easy money but i guess not
-
lol cheers.. i have no idea what those other two pics are/were... clearly that F'ed up lol lets try again SUCCESS!!!
-
... hmmm ......well i suck i cant get them to show up.... guess you'll just have to click on the links okay second time around i've resized them so their not rediculously huge
-
As already said by many..... lovely design!, looks like a very good combo of the BBB and CC .... i think it needs more cannons if its to take on an SES though , perhaps add another mid section - this may make it simlar to a BSB but a bit more simplified. I have done a similar MOC for my blue coats largely copying the design of an SES in blue and white.... the only problem is....... its only in blue and white there is a little bit of black in there but i was running out of pieces so badly, im surprised i could finish it at all. mine is much like yours though... needs another colour (and not just at the back, even the beams off the mast are blue and white on mine!!). however your yellow trim does look supperb! i would use it more on the sides as other have suggested. if i get more bits i will probably do something similar with my SES mod - again nice work

Newer pirate sets, are they worth getting?
Aquila D'oro replied to Aquila D'oro's topic in LEGO Pirates
well i did decide to get the 2 shipwreck hideouts, will sell one soon if anyones really keen and cant get one let me know . plus i managed to find a pirate survival and a soldiers arsenal, so thats nearly everything on the list. one other question id like to ask is: what are the contents of the 2009 pirate advent calender? it seems pretty pricey on eBay AU$50-65 is it worth getting if available? -
well so far all ive managed to do is leave a message for the customer service office detailing my plan of buying mutiple sets and curriering them. hopefully she will get back to me sometime soon..... ... and if lego aust is moving warehouses... wouldnt it be nice if some products fell off the back of a truck ... in our general direction
-
been trying to find that out using customer service but i keep getting an answer machine.... will let you know when i know. my plan is to either buy them from a lego shop that stocks them or S@H then pay for a currier to ship to my address.... (presumably these locations will be in sydney or melbourne) does anyone know if TLG will let you do that though? lets be honest postage at AU$45 per set is pretty steep especially if your going for multiple buys ..... and theres Aust post :pir-skull: *SHUDDER!!!* :pir-skull: i'd rather fly to where ever the hell it is i need to go and pick it up in person *UPDATE* i think the lego centres means the Moored lego educational centres, there is one is brisbane which i've contacted and aren't able to help. the other is in melbourne: 37 Hall Street Moonee Ponds Victoria 3039 Ph. 03 9372 8728 Fax: 03 9372 8727 maybe worth giving them a ring.....
-
yeah i went all over two shopping centres today, there is next to nothing in store at the moment. I was talking to a checkout chick in one toy store and she just happend to have this years Lego catalogue...... the pirates theme isnt in it.

Newer pirate sets, are they worth getting?
Aquila D'oro replied to Aquila D'oro's topic in LEGO Pirates
okay okay..... i get the picture so far (as in today) i managed to get a hold of: Soldiers fort kraken attackin Loot island 4 x cannon battle and one shop has a ship wreck island on hold for me although this shop does have two of these, still not sure if i'd get both.... -
I checked with Lego australia and they say that the 10210 will not be carried by any retail shops other than specific lego centres. that and the Shop at home thing... *sigh* this set just keeps getting more expensive........

Newer pirate sets, are they worth getting?
Aquila D'oro replied to Aquila D'oro's topic in LEGO Pirates
hmm fair enough.... a majority have gone for the "sign a blank cheque to Lego" option next question: which sets would you recommend buying more than one of? -
I've been collecting the lego pirates theme since 1989 although most of these i've had to re-buy as i destroyed/lost much of the sets as a child (go figure). anyway the sets i've been largely collecting even now have still been the earlier ones i.e 1989 to 1995 est, and to be honest i dont feel as though i've missed out at all with regards to some of the rather lame pirate/soldier designs (IMO) from 1996 till present (i.e. 7075...... need i say more) now recently i bought the BBB and hopefully when ever i find the bloody thing in a shop an imperial flagship as well (Note: i tend to prefer the ships hence i've bought several of them over and over again) Thing is whenever i look at some of the other new sets like Loot island (6241) etc i cant help but think they are quite inferior to the earlier equivelants to the extent of not worth buying. my dilema is: i dont want to wake up down the track "going damn!! should have bought more 2009 pirates .... but now there only on ebay/bricklink... and up to twice the price...... or more" my conflicting thoughts in total are as follows: Cost to buy it all Missing out on "completing the 2009 collection" or indeed missing out on sets that are quite good buying inferior quality parts (with regards to TTT and possibly others..... < this pisses me off a lot actually) not having more new parts/figs etc to play and MOC with the newer ships which ive already started to buy into ^would really appreciate answers here i.e. which ones are the best for MOCing/building armies etc^ Any feed back regarding 2009 sets that are not ships would be great: whether it be MOC ability or value for money etc Cheers Matt K
