  1. I like all the details, including the air conditioning vents on the roof. The large windows are nice too. If our Lego people play with smaller Lego, does that mean their Lego people play with even smaller Lego too?
  2. That's a lovely truck. I like the way you've used silver elements, really adds the 'classic' feel.
  3. I really like the striped masts.
  4. Nice buildings, I like the timber effects.
  5. Thanks for your comments! I will post more pics when I do some more work on it.
  6. I've been experimenting with adding to the fortress and giving it a harbour large enough for a ship to dock. The central building in the quay is based on one in the Imperial Trading Post set, I'm thinking of adding a crane to it as well. The prison in the fortress is based on the one in the 2009 Soldier's Fort set. I wanted to add to the fort while trying to keep its style. I would like to add some jetties to the harbour at some point, so it 'encircles' a ship more. Comments Welcome.
  7. Sorry about the late post-- somehow I've missed this, but here is a late 'Wow that's a beautiful ship!'
  8. Nice mixture. I've also been adding elements from the Soldier's Fort to the Eldorado fortress. It's not quite ready to photograph yet, but it adds a large enough quay to the fortress for the flagship to dock at. I also prefer the yellow and white combination to white and tan. I've made some careful modifications to the fortress: it's a lovely set so I approached this with some trepidation. One element I didn't like was the jail with its huge door, so I transplanted the jail from the soldier's fort.
  9. That's a lovely ship. The cannon redesigns are cute. Would you be willing to show any pics of the internal structure or is that a trade secret? I'd love to know how you got some of the angles on the sides.
  10. I'd love to see some more Ninja sets. The minifigures are fantastic, some of the buildings were OK but some were really nice. Any new sets would be good, some kind of large collector set would be great (e.g. a Ninja Mountain Retreat?), like the Imperial Flagship for the Pirates line.
  11. I write software for Macintosh, so yes, I am a fan.
  12. Nice images! Good to know there is some historical evidence for pirates fighting ninjas, but even if there wasn't, Pirates versus Ninjas is an Internet phenomenon: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_versus_Ninjas Since Lego has both themes, and they are natural enemies, I feel that we have a solemn duty to create more Pirate vs. Ninja action.
  13. Thanks for all your comments! Cheers, Alec
  14. I like the mowers, and I think the cows are great. Maybe if all the mowers fail, you can release the herd onto the lawn to keep it trimmed?
  15. Well, I really like the blue cabin colour. As the original model had a blue cabin I wanted to keep the colour scheme the same, with yellow for the 'gold' trim. It wouldn't be the ship I wanted to get all those years back without the blue I introduced the dark blue as it blended in nicely but other than that it's a 'classic' Lego colour scheme. Also, it goes with the blue and white sails and the general colour scheme of the blue and white soldiers. I don't think a brown cabin would look so nice, and I think a dark blue cabin would be too dark. Also, getting the right parts in those colours would be difficult. I can't think of any other colour that would work for the cabin. I'd like to do an all white ship at some point with white hull pieces. As for adding another sail, I think it wouldn't work with the proportions of this ship. I did some experiments when I was building with a third mast but it made everything look too cramped. I think it works with a large ship like the Skull's Eye Schooner but this design is only slightly larger than the original Clipper-- scalewise the Black Seas Barracuda is still longer. Cheers, Alec Thanks very much for all your comments, Alec.
  16. I wanted to post some images in the thread but it says I am using 95K of 100K. I thought that there was 100K available for each topic that I post but it seems that the 95K I am using in a town post has carried over to this post. Is that how the system should work? thanks Alec Well, I really like the blue cabin colour. 17. Thanks for the feedback. I agree on adding a gap behind the cab, I thought half a stud was enough. I just managed to get time to take a photo while I was taking some shots of the Christmas table. Sadly the Lego man didn't clear up after lunch.
  18. I quite like the new six stud wide design for Lego lorries as it allows a bit more detail, so I've been trying to update some four stud wide designs. I preferred the older yellow refuse collection truck (6693) to the new one (7991) so I thought I'd scale it up a bit to match the new lorry size. I've attached some images, cheers Alec
  19. Thank you, I have discovered these, and BrickLink has been very handy, although less kind to my bank balance
  20. Hello I'm Alec, I've just joined Eurobricks. I've been collecting Lego for a long time, when I was a kid mainly space and town sets. At the time I thought it would be great if they brought out some Star Wars Lego, so naturally I was quite pleased some years later when it became a reality. Recently I have been collecting some of the pirate sets I was hoping to get back in 1989 but didn't quite have the budget for at the time. Better late than never. I haven't really been following the Lego community on the Internet so I've been pleasantly surprised at the scale of the resources available and the scale of some of the creations out there. I'll try and post some images of a few things I've been working on when I get a chance.
