LEGO Atlantis Guardian of the Deep Set Review
Ratbat replied to Mariann Asanuma's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The tail fin reminds me of a thresher shark, due to how long it is. Will try to get this, but I think the Aqua Raiders shark from 07 is a bit better. -
Sorry, I'm just used to US prices. And trust me, I feel bad for those outside of the US who have to pay more. Meh, I've lost interest in it. I'd rather get Luke's Landspeeder.

I'm not a big City person, but I'll keep an eye out for this one!
-
I might get it. But $30 is bullsh*t.
-
Just got Egon. He's cool. Nice that I now have a PKE Meter. Now I just have to get Ray (and hopefully Stay Puft).

As shown, they do have some accessories, such as the proton streams and Peter's communicator. The hair can also be removed. I've never had any problems with moving their joints. The have neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, knees, and feet joints.

Anyone else ever see these? http://www.diamondselecttoys.com/ Just click products, and then click on the minimates icon. I have two Ghostbusters minimates, Peter and Winston, and they are great! They are basically minifigures with more articulation, but they know it. The even have holes on their feet to connect to studs!

Review 8190 Claw Catcher
Ratbat replied to BrickBob Studpants's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Damn, that's one nice vehicle. Definitely going to have to get this. -
Excellent! That piece does make for a good pke meter.

I got a Wii. I've always been a Nintendo fan, Mario for the most part. I like the fact that Nintendo tried doing something new, and it was a success.
-
I still think that this one is worth a purchase, but if you have the extra cash, then I would recommend the original.
-
Well, I should only choose one, since that would seem the most likely... DC has Batman, a Lego line that I made a big mistake skipping, but Marvel has Deadpool... ...F*ck it, both.

I'd like to join. Just an example if I need one: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...mp;#entry648603

Reviewer's Academy? I'm interested.

When I first saw pictures, I was really hyped for the Stars. But not Takanuva. He didn't look bad, and still doesn't, but he just seemed bland compared to the others. Why couldn't he have the gold parts? Oh, wait, so that the gold Tahu seems more special. And I'm sure there's something in the storyline that has to do with it. Oh well. I was at target, and they had him, so I decided to pick him up. The Canister- The average canister. New & Recolored Parts- There's a decent amount of new parts on Takanuva. Two of the new feet in white, a white armor piece, a gold armor piece, and the mask, which from what I have seen, is ever so slightly lighter than the old silver mask. I believe the white limbs are also new, but I didn't want to remove them because of the chance of snapping joints. Building Experience- Nothing exciting. Just an agori with some new parts here and there. Although I will say, I quite enjoy building small, simple sets, such as this one. Complete Set- Takanuva looks pretty good! The colors, as bland as they are, do work well. I think it's nice to have a set that is just straight up white. The twin staffs are pretty cool, and I like the choice of white nuva shoulder armor on the arms. Also, a huge plus for me, is that you can bend the wrists just enough to have the staffs straight up, while still having the arms straight down. Just a quick look with the gold armor and mask- Wow, the new shade of gold is so much better. To be fair, I have grown to like the white with no gold. My biggest complaint is, just like with Tahu, the inclusion of the 08 matoran head. But on Takanuva, it's much worse. The new Hau was made to "hug" over the head, but Takanuva's mask is the same mold as the old one, so it doesn't look as good. It looks like something is stuck on his face. The eyes are also far apart from the eye holes on the mask. It's not overly unbearable, but it does bug me. Takanuva's articulation is the standard 9 joints. The shoulders are a little hindered, but it's not a huge problem. You can get him in some nice poses. Overall- I quite enjoy Takanuva. The review may have sounded like I didn't like him, but I do. The colors work well, as do the twin staffs. The articulation's good, and while I would have like to see a new mask to hug over the matoran head, it's not a huge problem for me. If you have been enjoying the Stars, then pick up Takanuva.

I don't get brickmaster anymore, but I might have to see what I can do to get this one... -
REVIEW : 8075 Neptune Carrier
Ratbat replied to daoudbazaar's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This set looks great! I love the features and overall shape of the Carrier. Great review. Although I fail to see what makes the technic panels crappy. -
When I first saw the pictures of the Stars, I was really happy. The final sets are look backs at some fan favorites. There's Takanuva, Tahu, a Rahkshi, Gresh, Nekta... Gresh?! Why the hell is Gresh in there? He isn't a big character, and never really did anything important. Skrall makes sense, considering they're the main villain of 09, but why Gresh? Well, anyway, I decided to get Gresh today. I dunno, at the store he just seemed to say buy me. The Canister- The average Stars canister. New & Recolored Parts- As you can see, there's actually quite a bit of new parts on Gresh. There's the new armor pieces which are only available in this set, two new feet in lime green, the gold armor part for Tahu, a lime green Gresh helmet (<3) and two blades now in silver. The torso piece is also now in dark green, but I didn't remove it in fear of snapping joints. That's quite a lot for his size. Building Experience- Gresh's build is simple and will only take you about thirty seconds. There are a few new things, such as adding the armor and the feet, but it's pretty much the standard Agori build. That's not a bad thing though. The Complete Set- Gresh looks great! The colors work great together, and are nicely balanced and placed. The lime green head also blends nicely with the colors. The armor is nice and definitely sets him apart from Tahu and Takanuva. The blades are a little large for him though. I would have liked to see them downsized, but that's something TLG probably wouldn't do. However, you can still merge them into a shield, which I think looks better: Gresh has the standard nine points of articulation which most small sets have had for the past few years. The bent arms help with action poses. Unfortunately, he can hardly turn his head without having it tilted. Also something to note, he makes a great companion to Skrall, as they are from the same year. Overall- Although his spot in the Stars line is quite questionable, I'm quite happy with Stars Gresh. He has some problems, but I find that they are minor complaints. He looks great, has good articulation, and is worth a purchase if you are into the Stars line.

I have little interest in this line, but I can see it being a hit with the kids. I saw two kids walk out of the Lego store pretty happy with a couple of these. Hope it does well.

Review: Atlantis Seabed Scavenger
Ratbat replied to Ratbat's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I'll definitely be picking up Guardian of the deep. Looks to be a good set. I too thought that this set looked rather poor at first, but in hand, it really looks great. Edit: Here is a picture of the Scavenger without the wheels and arms: Very nice submarine on it's own. -
My interest in the Atlantis line has been going up and down for a while now. Sometimes I like them, other times, they're just meh. However, I was at the Lego Store today, and they had all of them, and decided to get the one that looked the most interesting to me. It's probably the best $15 set I have ever purchased. The Box- I really like the Atlantis packaging. The back shows the many features of the set. The Minifigures- The minifigures in this set are great. You get one Manta Ray Warrior, who has nice details and a trident. The diver also has many nice details, however the new scuba gear does cover a lot of it up. Also shown is the key. It's a very nice piece, with a manta ray in the middle. Building Experience- I loved building this set. It involves a lot of neat building techniques, and a fair amount of technic (I <3 technic). The stickers are easy to apply, and add a small, yet nice amount of detail to the vehicle. The Seabed Scavenger- Isn't it lovely? It's a single man submarine with three wheels, and arms. I love it! The main body of the vehicle is very well designed, with the bubble cockpit, lights, and curves. The cockpit is a bit bare. There are two large gaps, but you can forgive those, can't you? A lot of the space is taken up by the scuba gear. Now let's move on to the features, which this set has a considerable amount of. The front arms can move up and down due to the way they are built around the wheels. They also have ball joints at the "wrists". The claws can open and close, and the saw blade can spin. The next feature are the incredibly underrated flick fire missiles. I thought the holders would come right off when you go to flick them, but they are held on by two clips and not one. The result is a very sturdy connection. The can also move around. The last feature is the suspension system. It works, but I don't think there will ever be a time when it will come in handy. Overall- I cannot recommend the Seabed Scavenger enough. The figures are great, the vehicle is well designed, and has some really nice features. I feel $15 USD is a great price tag for this set, and I would highly recommend picking it up.

Where to begin with this one. I heard a lot of bad things about this particular figure from the unpleasable Bionicle fan base. However, I am easily pleased and easy going on Lego sets and other things I collect. So, I decided to get Stars Skrall. Canister- ...Yeah. It's a canister. (honestly, I find this part of the review pointless) Look at it. Look at it as if staring at the leaked pictures of the canister just weren't enough. New Molds & Recolored pieces- There's not many new parts on Skrall. There's the Nuva armor, which could count as a new piece, since the new shade of gold is different. You get two of the new feet in black, and a black Kopaka sword. However, I didn't buy the set for the parts, so lets move on. The Complete Set- Skrall looks badass (although, maybe not in that picture). They really got the hunchback design well, and the shoulder blades are pretty nice. Everyone loves the black Kopaka blade. Although a shield would have been nice, I can forgive that. He looks a lot more buff in hand than in pictures. Not much to say here. He does have the unused ball joint on his back, but it really doesn't bother me that much. Besides, it should be pretty easy to remove with some pliers and sand paper (I have done work like that before). Skrall has some good articulation. He is slightly hindered in the shoulders due to the blades, but for most practical poses, there isn't much restriction. (Yeah, that's a pretty badass pose) Overall- Skrall is a decent figure in general, but a great figure in my eyes. He looks much better when you have him in hand than he does in pictures. While I'm sure most of the ratings for this one will be below average and poor, that isn't going to ruin my enjoyment of the figure. Recommended for those who are easily pleased.

The only things I can think of would be the Corporate Alliance Tank Droid, Echo Base, and Boulder Blaster, but I can get those my self. Otherwise, I got tons of stuff, and am pretty happy.

I only expected about 10 things maximum...
