  1. Found him sealed MISB on Ebay. Year:1999 Piece Count:44 Price:$6.00 USD The Packaging & Carrying Case What is interesting about the Throwbots line, was that the plastic case that the figures could be stored in came in a box with a small window. The Plastic case itself is pretty cool and... turquoise... The back has some slots so it can be attached to a belt, and a spot to put your name. The case opens up differently than the Roboriders and Bionicle canisters do. The Pieces A good amount of black and... turquoise... The disks are pretty cool. The level 3 Torch disk is pictured on the side of the box, but isn't the second disk supposed to be random? Building Process The build is very straight forward, but interesting. The Complete Set Back View: Turbo's color scheme is very striking. The... turquoise... black and small bits of yellow really make him stand out. But what really separates him from the rest of the throwbots, is the fact that he has wheels instead of limbs. The head: I like the fact that the mask is kept black. It makes it look like a race car driver helmet. ...Bulbasaur? Features Outside of the rolling wheels and head, Turbo has two features. The first is more for storage, but I'd consider it to be a play feature. Turning the gear on top will cause Turbo to angle up. The second feature is the throwing arm. Insert the disk and and pull the arm back. Storage Turbo folds up to store in the carrying case. There are six slots for disks as well. Overall Turbo is my favorite throwbot due to the colors, and theme. I really like him, but I think you could get some more playability out of another throwbot due to the posable limbs. I'd still recommend him though.
  2. Found him for a good price on Ebay, so I got him. Year:2000 Piece Count:43 Price:$6.00 USD The Canister Putting the canister in the freezer (or any cold environment 41 degrees or lower) will cause a code to appear. The Pieces A lot of interesting pieces that as far as I know, are not available in any other set. Two of them automatically got my attention: The head piece is very cool, with lots of little details. The wheel is very interesting, with a robot molded and printed on the center. According to Brickipedia, they represent the drivers. http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/File:Roboriders_Wheel.png Building Process This set unfortunately didn't come with the instructions, but the seller was nice enough to include a little note to find them online. The overall process is pretty simple, but there is an interesting gear function in it. The Completed Set Frost has a very unique design, and I love it. It's very sleek, with lots of cool details. I especially like the tubes leading to the ice spears. Back View: The kick stand is a very nice touch. Without it, the bike would easily fall over. Front View: Features Besides the retractable kick stand, Frost has two features. The first is the elevating chassis. Turning the gear on top will cause the chassis to angle, changing the overall appearance. Next is probably the most odd feature I've ever seen on a Lego set. The front assembly slides forward. The sides then fold out, and the front wheel will shoot out. It sounds like it would never work, but I was pleasantly surprised... And I wouldn't necessarily call this a feature, but it can be stored in the canister. Overall Frost is awesome. The design is cool, the features work well, and he's got some cool parts. I really wish this line could have lasted a little longer, but there's nothing that can be done about that now. Highly recommended.
  3. Neat. I like what Lego is doing with their viral marketing.
  4. The barraki and Toa Mahri.
  5. Okay, You've sold me on this. He looks too badass to pass up.
  6. The first one was great, the second, awesome, the third... OK. Just finding out about this myself, I'm really excited.
  7. I understand why molding a solid piece would not be a good production choice. I guess what I should have said, was that I wish they could have done something to make at look better. As I said, they could have remolded the piece itself, keeping it hollow, but allow an arm piece to fit inside it.
  8. I still wish they could have done something, like molding it so an arm piece could attach to the inside. As I said, it doesn't bother too much.
  9. The squid launcher. When done correctly, those things fly across rooms.
  10. I've been a Bionicle fan since the beginning, so I was sad to see it go. However, over the years, I felt as if the story got overly complex, and lost it's charm. Even though I'm sad to see it go, I'm quite excited for Hero Factory. It's a fresh new start, which I'm very happy about. NOTE: I used Perfect Touch Tech. on my camera. It essentially brightens the picture, bringing out more of the details, but it did offset the colors just a little bit. Set Name: Jimi Stringer Set #: 7170 Piece Count: 17 Price: $7.99 USD The Canister Not too much to say. The canister is the same as the Stars canisters, but the lid is new. The Pieces Most of the parts are new or recolors, excluding the three black ball sockets, and the head. Building Process The building process is very easy, and will only take a minute. The small Bionicle (Now HF) sets have never been about the construction, so no surprises here. Completed Figure Stringer looks badass, with his giant arm cannon, and that "I hate everything" glare. Even though his profile would say otherwise, I can't help but think that this guy is always in a bad mood, despite being one of the heroes. Back view: The new torso piece looks great from the back. His feet also have what look to be some thrusters on the back. Some close ups: The helmet looks to have a small flood light on the side, along with a communicator, and a speaker. The chest armor is great. I like how it was made specifically for Stringer, with the speakers on each side. The hero core in the center really finishes it off nicely. The legs use the same limbs as the arms, but with some armor over them. The feet look good as well. The arm cannon is what really drew me to get Stringer first. The arm under all the armor is shorter than the other arm, but if it was the same length, than I think the piece would be just a bit too long. It looks more practical than the other two, which I like. Unfortunately, this figure's biggest problem comes from this piece. From this angle, it looks great. However, from the other side... It's completely hollow. I understand why making it hollow is a better choice as far as production costs go, but I really do wish that they could have done something to make it look just a little better. Articulation Stringer has eight points of articulation. It doesn't allow for a plethora of poses, but I don't see this guy doing much acrobatics, as much just shooting everything in sight. Conclusion Jimi Stringer succeeds at being an action figure, but if the hollow cannon arm bugs you, then I'd recommend looking at getting one of the rookies.
  11. The arms are connected the same way as on the old Rahkshi, but the arms on this one just seem a little bit more limited in their movement.
  12. Loving the villains. Granted, Von Nebula doesn't have elbows, but I think it works for his hunchback design. Rotor looks great. Corrodor's looking much better. My definite favorite is Meltdown. He's balancing toxic waste tanks on his shoulders.
  13. Out of all the Stars, the one I was most excited for was the Rahkshi. Will he live up to my expectations? Canister- The average Stars canister. I do quite like the pose he is in. Parts- The (heat vision) Rahkshi has a pretty good selection of parts. Most of them are light gray, but he does have some nice hands and feet in yellow. The new spine piece is pretty nice, as is the gold Bohrok shield. Building Experience- The Rahkshi is the standard 08 Matoran / Agori build, but uses the same technique found with Skrall, to give him the hunchback look. That fused with the spine connecting to the back, makes him stand out quite a bit from the other Stars. Complete set- The Rahkshi looks wonderful, and resembles the originals to a tee. I really like the yellow, but I would have preferred black over light gray. I also like how the blades are sticking straight up out of the spine. Looks like they pierced right through the skin(?). Side View- The Rahkshi has a lot more depth than any other "impulse" set that has used this build. Back View- The spine's connection to the back is quite simple, but it works. Articulation- This area is a bit touchy. The legs are fine, and the head has a large range of movement due to the soft rubber used to make the head and the wire that attaches to the spine, but his arms are pretty limited, more so than his 03 counterparts due to them being connected through the staff. Even the picture on the canister cheats quite a bit. Some poses are doable, but for the most part, the staff will sit straight across the body. However, it's something I'm willing to work past. Overall, I'm very happy with Stars Rahkshi. I have some fond memories with the original one I have, and this set really seemed to be the only one that gave me any nostalgic value. He's a great buy, and at a great price tag. Recommended. Also, since I now have reviewed all six, I just want to give my opinion on the Stars line: I think the Stars are wonderful, and I appreciate the fact that Lego would even bother releasing look backs at fan favorites. While most of the Bionicle fan base aren't pleased with them (then again, a big chunk of the fan base is near impossible to please), I'll be enjoying them, and giving kudos to Lego for making them.
  14. Thank you. I have come to accept that I have only myself to blame. I wasn't crying, but he just noticed something was wrong. But I would just like to add that my dad is a hypocrite. I'm not going to lie. I don't want this to seem like me trying to get everyone to have pity for me, but my Dad has said, and done much worse when he didn't get what he asked for. But you're right. 15 is too old for that crap. I think the best for me is to just forget about it and move on.
  15. Sorry, it's just really hard to. As I said, I've been in a long depression, and I know some more crap will be coming later in the week.
  16. EDIT: NVM.
  17. I really like the pneumatics! The tractor also looks very nice, but it really needs an engine. Might skip this and get the Helicopter, but that's only because there's a lot out there that I want right now.
  18. I MIGHT get him along with Swampfire. Once again, the parts look fantastic. As I've already stated, price to piece is bullsh*t in my opinion, so I'm not affected by the price too much.
  19. This, f*cking THIS.
  20. Was thinking about getting this one for the large amount of limbs, but I think I'll get Swampfire. I actually think these sets are cool, because: 1. The style. They have loads of it. I love the cartoon look. 2. Articulation. I like the fact that the ankle joints have been turned 90 degrees. Allows for more wide-stance poses. 3. Parts. I'll build the figure, but I don't think it will stay built for long. By turning around the limbs, you can attach some armor. I actually have a few ideas in my head. The torso is wonderful, and so are the claws. Although I'm not sure why these are $15. I've always thought the price to piece ratio was complete bullsh*t, and still do, but surely they don't have to be THAT much. But eh, an extra $5 won't kill me.
  21. While I do have a small grudge against Ben 10, I find that the sets are awfully, AWFULLY underrated. I'll definitely buy one or two. I really like the limbs and torso. They look great for mocing.
  22. The Stars line has gotten a lot of varying feedback from many Bionicle fans. Some like them, for the simple fact that they are fan favorites, others find them underwhelming. Today, I will be looking at 7137, Piraka, A.K.A., Nektann, as confirmed by Greg Farshtey. Name: Piraka Set #: 7137 Year: 2010 (Released November 2009 at Toys R Us) Pieces: 15 Price: $7.99 USD The Canister- I quite like the simplicity of the Stars canisters. Nektann looks pretty pissed. The front shows the set info, and the special gold piece. The back showing how to put the set back in the canister, and the gold Tahu. Building Experience- If you've built an Agori or an 08 matoran, you've built Nektann. The headpiece is the only major difference. Instruction Booklet- The front of the booklet has the same image of Nektann as on the canister. Not much else to say. Random Page- The instructions are easy to follow. It could have been a fold out poster due to how simple the build is, but Lego went the extra mile. The building experience wasn't anything special, but for those who like quick builds, you will be pleased. The head piece has an interesting connection, but it's the standard Agori build. New Pieces- Gold piece, and the back of the headpiece. Head Piece Front View- The head piece has some very cool details such as the teeth and bulges at the top of the head. I don't think I would call it a spine, as it doesn't go all the way down the back, and it has two tubes running from the head to the connector. The limbs are also new in dark blue, but I didn't remove them in fear of breaking joints. Gold Piece On Tahu- As shown, the gold piece can be used on the shoulder, or on the torso. The gold piece has a lot of nice Mocing potential, and kind of looks like a Tiki head. The Complete Set- Nektann looks pretty good. The head piece really sets him apart from the other Stars, and gives him a lot of character. The colors are a little dull though. Gray and dark blue work, but I think another color instead of gray could have been used. Head Close-up- One small problem I have is that the eyes on the glatorian head (call it the other established term and I'll kill you), don't match up directly behind the head piece. It's not a terribly big deal, but it does bug me. Head piece connection points- The connection uses a four pin connector. The instructions also tell you to twist the side "spines" outwards when connecting to the shoulders. Weapon- I'm not to sure about the weapon yet. I guess I like it, but it's pretty far out there. What I'm trying to say, is that it is a giant claw with a blade on the bottom. Articulation- Nektann has the standard nine points of articulation. The head and arms aren't really hindered by the head piece, which is a big bonus. The legs use, in my opinion, the best limb piece out of all the impulse set limbs, which provide a good amount of posing. The next picture, showing that the gold piece can be used as a blaster- Overall- Playability-7/10 (It's a small set, so there isn't loads to due. He does have good articulation however, which means there's a lot of posing possibilities.) Design-8/10 (While small and simple, the Agori build is still as good as it was. The head peice gives the set a lot of character.) Price-10/10 (Considering that this set has a canister and more pieces than the average agori and is only $1 more than an agori, the price is spectacular.) Final Grade- 8.5/10 (He's not the most interesting of the Stars, but he is still good, and in my opinion, worth a purchase.) Overall, if you have been enjoying the Stars, or just like the agori, then I would recommend Nektann. He isn't amazing, but the head piece adds a lot of nice character, and does set him apart from the other Stars. Worth the money.
  23. Optimus in robot mode looks great, but Bumblebee's kinda meh. I wish there was a decepticon. I think Soundwave would be pretty easy to replicate. I dunno, I'm just sick of seeing Bumblebee everywhere.
  24. Excellent pictures! Seeing all of those 07 sets make me sad. It was my favorite year, with the Barraki and Nocturn being my favorite sets ever. Hopefully I'll be able to get the two larger play sets, so I can complete that year.
  25. Looks great! The mountain side us a nice touch, as is the shower.
