  1. There are still a few things that have to happen, but if everyone's questions are answered, I'll move it along.
  2. The password doesn't work for me.
  3. Ah. Well, I know for a fact that the sum of the square of the two legs of a right triangle are equal to the square of the hypotenuse. Any there other general knowledge you would like to know?
  4. You will have a brief audience with King Somoril, who will give you your orders, but after that I believe that Prefect Rone will accompany you on the investigation. About the Kings, or Duplovia?
  5. We don't have a lot of positive leads, but we do have a few main suspects. The Hidden Skulls are a group Duplovian criminals and war profiteers who have been causing trouble for quite some time. We're still trying to find who their leader is, but evidence goes to show he might have access to the King. The Delfrins have talked of a similar group in their city, but we don't believe they would make their way to Duplovia for such an act. There have been attempts on both nations. The assassins seem to be trying to take out both leaders in one strike, but so far the combined forces of the Praetorian and Delfrin guards have stopped this. As for either of or rulers being 'off the rails bonkers' that entirely depends on who you talk to. There are some who believe King Somoril's tough-on-crime behavior astonishing, but he has cleaned up the city quite a bit, and is over all a sensible ruler. From what I've heard, the Delfrin King is also wise and just.
  6. Aves blinks, not catching onto the sarcasm. I'm terribly sorry, ma'am. It is good to know you're practicing, though! The Praetorian Guard should be able to defend the king, but we are far too busy preparing for upcoming events - not to mention the peace talks - to deal with these plots. That's why you were hired, to investigate the assassination plots and stop whoever's doing this. QM Note: By a shard, it means each hero gets 1/4 of a full piece.
  7. Great! As Aves looks over the crew manifest again, his smile is dampened only slightly when he notices Sarge's class. A rogue? How did you get - ah, well, it's hardly important now, is it? The crew climbs up the ramp into the Duplovian ship, lead by Aves. In a few minutes, they are setting sail to the west. So, you said you had questions? I may not be able to answer all of them, but I'll try what I can! QM Note:Sorry about that Brickington! We'll try to keep you up to date.
  8. Dyric watches the chosen questers leave for Duplovia, then turn when his new-found companion Sorrow gets up and begins to pace. He knew that feeling all too well. He wanted to offer words of comfort, but none came to mind. They never did. He notices an elf rises to comfort Sorrow, and decides to sit back and watch.
  9. Is the Spirit Leader... Head Death?

I'm Aves, knight of Duplovia. As I'm sure you know from Prefect Rone's letter to you, we're in a bit of a situation. Duplovia and Delfrin have been at war for generations now, almost as long as we've been in the ancient city. Well, now the King of Delfrin wants to end all that. He and King Somoril - that's our king - have begun peace talks. The problem is, there's people who don't want this. Already there have been two assassination attempts. Since we're busy with the peace talks and the race and all that, we've hired you guys. Hopefully, you can shine a little light on the situation and find out who's doing all this. You know all this, though. At least, I should hope so. Are you all here? If so, then we should head out immediately! I can answer most of your questions on the way. QM Note: Please confirm and check your stats within 24 hours so we can head out. Thank you all for signing up! Also, mad props go to Masked for doing up nearly all the pics you'll see on this quest.
  11. Heading off to Duplovia!

Wait for me, I'm coming with you! :p

  12. Byblos quickly pulls a book from a shelf, and drops it heavily in front of Sarge before retreating back to his original studies. Discourse on Duplovia: Duplovia is an ancient city, built long ago in the High Kingdoms by giants of old. While the giants have died out, the ancient city remains strong, and the largest city in the High Kingdoms. This is partially due to the massive walls designs and constructed by the great giant Harbid. These walls run between the six of the seven mountains which make up the borders of Duplovia, the seventh and greatest of the mountains being the centerpiece for Duplovia's castle. Despite countless attacks, the walls have never fallen to any creature on Olegia, or Quarra as it is known in the ancient Duplovian tongue. Chapter One: Duplovian Life Architecture and Family Structure After some time, a race of human colonists found the ancient walls and the ruins within. They took up residence in the old city, and began to rebuild. Of the most famous of buildings is the Hall of Curious, a massive hall built around a strange rock formation. The hall is filled with artifacts from across the world, many with magical abilities, and some with entirely unknown properties. The Hall has special guides, and an elite caste of guards of Curios to protect the artifacts from visitors with dubious motives, and vice versa. Duplovians both admire and envy the massive buildings constructed by the giants before them. Many of the buildings strongly reflect those structures of old that still stand. These houses are naturally massive, and thus it is not uncommon for there to be 2-4 Duplovian families in one house. This is the smallest social unit, the big household, and the head of the household is a patriarch or matriarch from one of the families. The abundance of indoor activities, combined with the sometimes harsh climate conditions, is the reason why many of the public places in Duplovia are under a roof. Livestock is held in large barns, and the majestic Royal Stables span nearly 1000 feet from one end to the other. The Governing System Duplovia is governed by a king, chosen by public elections. In election to the throne, it is the head of the household who votes for each house. There are two notable stances in the elections - internal and external affairs. The current king, King Simoral, is of the former group. They prefer a more conservative policy with focus on the stabilization of the kingdom and internal affairs like fighting crime and corruption. King Simoral has notably placed a large interest in stopping the spread of thieving rogues through the city. The opposition has a more aggressive stance against the neighboring areas - particularly Delfrin, Duplovia's sworn enemy - and wants to expand the kingdom by conquer, and use of Duplovia's superb cavalry. Religion Like in Eubric, the religion in Duplovia is diverse, but the deity of most followers is Ennoc, followed by Mercutio and Amaldea & Melodion. Even though there are numerous followers of light, there is no permanent station of the Paladin Order in Eubric. The followers of Ennoc are mainly driven by civilian population, and has no standing army. Wildlife and Farming The area controlled by Duplovia is rich in wildlife which is hunted for the furs and rare weeds and plants that are used in numerous ways. The River Dubley provides the ancient city with water and fish, but not enough to meet the big demand for sea water and fish that many Duplovians share, therefore a lot of that is imported from the villages and towns near the Crystalline sea, notably Newharbour. The largest producer of grains, fruits and vegetables is the Crisson Fields, named and first created by the ingenious farmer who kept the massive city fed during the generation-year-long Siege of Duplovia. The Crisson Fields have since been treated with all respect. Other Races Besides humans, there are several groups of races in the Duplovian area. The dark tunnels of Duplovian are said to be filled with Duplovian Cave Trolls, a group more barbaric than their Eubric selves, at least as far as historians can tell. To the dismay of many activists, Duplovian Cave Trolls are often used as beasts of burden in the great city. The Norghs are another primarily cave-dwelling race. They are infamous for their small size and high-pitched chatter, however they have a ferocity that makes up for their appearance. They are brilliant miners, and are sometimes said to chew through rock. Chapter Two: War and Military Duplovian Military Duplovia is famous for its large cavalry, which is utterly disciplined and loyal to the Throne. It should be noted that it is the Throne they are loyal to, not the King - if the cavalry finds a king unsuitable for the Throne they will usually dethrone him and order a new election. If the King resists, this will be done by force. The Duplovian military system is a hierarchy of command. Below is a general table of ranks: Legatus - the 'commander-in-chief' Dux - Leads 2-3 legions (10,000 - 15,000 men in total) Centurian - Leads a group of 100 men. Decurion - Leads a cavalry of 30 men. Decanus - Leads a group of 8 men. Patricians - Cavalry (Knights) Sagittari - Archers Legionary - Heavy infantry Velites - Light infantry (Basic military ranks, officers, top ranks) There are are few notable ranks within the military. The Praetorian Guard an elite group which is focused on the protection of the Throne. The head of this guard is often called the Royal Guard by civilians, but officially go as Prefects. For the past several generations, the title of Prefect has been bestowed on a man of the Rone family. This title is usually held until the Prefect is unable to perform his job, but in some circumstances - such as the Prefect shaming the Throne - the Prefect may be punished as the King sees fit and the next in line will be titled as Prefect. Immunes are a group of soldiers who were 'immune' to combat duty, but had a more specialist job in the military. Signifiers bear the flag of Duplovia into battle. Cornicens are the minstrels of the the Duplovian army. Architects operated the rapidly-advancing technology of the Duplovian military, but often retired architects worked as civilian designers or mechanics. Enemies of Duplovia Over the years, Duplovia has been constantly assaulted by numerous cities and states, jealous and determined to break Harbid's Ancient Walls. One of the earliest and longest recorded battles is with Delfrin, the city to the east. When King Fimborn of Duplovia wanted to expand the city, he focused his conquest on Delfrin, who he deemed weak. His perceptions proved false - Delfrin not only withstood the attack, but responded with a siege that lasted a generation. It was during the siege that the Crisson Fields were first constructed, as well as the Lines of Clazure. The Lines of Clazure where ancient lines of defense created to defend against a possible breach from the Northern Gate, where Delfrin was most likely to attack. The Dravis and Cyro roads, as well as the Great Highway, were all a part of the Lines, devised by military strategist Clazure and his two second-in-commands. When Duplovia survived the siege, Clazure, Dravis and Cyro were hailed as heroes. Duplovia and Delfrin have been at a state of hostility for generations now, but between this time Duplovia has been assaulted by many others. The most recent attack was one by a city of magic-wielders, a group Duplovia frustratingly struggled to defeat. Furious at their magical waves, the King at the time set out to destroy the race entirely. After several years, there has continued to be no report from the city the magic-wielders came from. OOC: Props go to Etzel for assisting with parts of this article
  13. Sandy, do you want me to answer Sarge's question in the library?
  14. I'd say only a month or so long. I was thinking the other night I might have liked to make it more complicated, but its far too late for that.
  15. After over a year and a half of planning, the first Duplovia quest is about to begin!
  16. A knight from a distant country steps into the hall. It soon becomes clear he is from Duplovia. Greetings, heroes. Here is the list of those chosen to cross the Crystalline Sea with me to Duplovia. Chosen Heroes for Quest 64: Discord in Duplovia: -Sarge (Skyrimguy) -Sir Brickington (Brickington) -Alexander (Wedge 09) -Thalion (-obelix) (Party Leader) You will be given one day to prepare yourselves, meet me at the docks. I look forward to the journey. Farewell for now, heroes!
  17. Indeed. I nearly lost one of my dearest friends to the taint. I know not where he is now, but he doubtless is questioning many of the things around him. I pity the man deeply. Perhaps he is right to question, though. I fear this Dark will strike soon, something more powerful than Wren or anything perceived thus far in Olegaia. I fear we will not be ready.
  18. I fear that's only the start of our troubles. You know, we may have done away with most of the deadly chaos worshipers out there, but why do I feel like that's only caused it to spread? I mean, recently we've had heroes called to Abra, Dastan, Xu, even my homeland Duplovia has asked for assistance, and they are one of the proudest nations I know of. Something dark is stirring Olegia.
  19. I linger slightly on Sorrow's last few words. If only you knew.
  20. Saving a frog is more of an entitlement than you seem to think. I've known some good frogs - I was with Skrall and the group that rescued Sir. Poletad from his imprisonment.
  21. I think again of the seemingly-disappeared Arthur, and nod sadly. I smile lightly. So, I guess people have heard of my after all. Yeah, I'm Dyric. Who are you?
  22. Wandering mostly. Looking for odd jobs. Ways to help people. Nothing big has come up. Nothing I'm skilled in, anyways. Ha, used to be a royal guard, now I can't even find work. What kind of heroes are we? We may do the work, but either people don't notice or it just makes things worse. People die. People will always die. They have, so many have... Good people died... I look around, and see a few odd stares. I sigh deeply. I'm sorry about that. It's just... I haven't gotten any sleep since the Temple of Zoot. No matter what I do, I haven't gotten any sleep. I smile a little. I think I'm going nuts.
  23. I wander back into the Hall, as exhausted as I ever have been. Still, there's been no sleep since the events several weeks ago. It takes far too long to orient myself with the lighting and surroundings of the hall. Eventually it becomes clear that my brother, Arthur, is gone. I consider asking Alexis about this, but she seems busy. I walk up to the group nonetheless - I desperately needed something to keep my concentration - and nod in greeting to Alexis and Haldor.
  24. I'd be interested in going on Stealer of Senses Pt 2.
