I think my first set was 2555 Belville Swing, quite a strange choice but at that time you didn't have a lot to choose from, so almost any set you could find was good.

I would like to see a wheel with half or two thirds the width of the 94.8x44 one, but with the same height.
-
I was actually referring to a steering system with springs or rubber bands, something similar to a return-to-center steering, so the wheels turn only when the friction with the road is big enough. I hope you understand what I said. However a remote controlled steering system seems pretty interesting too.

8421 Mobile Crane
Sergiu replied to j3tang's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If the gears in the boom slip a lot, then you should probably put the clutch back, although this problem is quite strange because my crane works very well with the regular gear. Maybe you have done some mistakes during the build of the boom or maybe the load you are trying to lift is too heavy. Good luck solving the problem. -
Enilder, some trailer have steering in order to be able to steer in a smaller place than usual, but also to reduce tire wear. This type of trailers is quite rare, so this is probably why you didn't see any. dr_spock, the trailer looks very nice with white ramps and you did a good job with the steering but I think that it would have been even better if you could have managed to make the wheels steer automatically, not by hand. I think this is the way real trailers work, but this is just my opinion.

8421 Mobile Crane
Sergiu replied to j3tang's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Like you said, the white gear is the clutch and the gray one is the regular gear. The clutch you need to replace is the one located in the boom and not the one behind the motor, it should be pretty easy to do. Also the principle of the clutch is quite simple and it is made out of 2 parts. It slips when the torque applied to clutch exceeds a certain limit. Here you can see how the clutch looks inside. I hope this helped you. -
8421 Mobile Crane
Sergiu replied to j3tang's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
As CP5670 wrote, the problem with the extending boom is the clutch, which keeps slipping. I also had this problem and I replaced the clutch with the regular 24 teeth gear and now it works very well. For the line problem, I don't think there is a simple solution so you will have to live with the problem or you could try to modify the boom, but I don't know how because I was never bothered by this problem. I hope you manage to solve the crane's issues. -
I bought today, from Bricklink, 200$ worth of Technic pieces.

Very nice MOD, it seems to be a lot better than the original. I can't wait to see a video with it in action. Good job.

My oldest set is 6812 Grid Tekkor from 1991.

I have no problem using aluminium parts in my MOCs, in fact I really want to incorporate them in one of my future MOCs, but unfortunately the seller doesn't ship to my country, so I won't be able to do this. In my opinion these parts are great and just what I need. I know these are not LEGO, but you cannot achieve everything with standard parts, so sometimes sacrifices are required. I would definitely buy them.

Rough Terrain Crane
Sergiu replied to paanjang16's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very good MOC, the design is nice and the functions are really awesome, I especially like the way the outriggers work and the fact that the crane is 4WD. Great work! -
displaying your technic models
Sergiu replied to HRTTIM's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I keep some of my sets in glass cabinets and the others on shelfs or wherever there is some space left. The only problem is the dust, but the sets are not very difficult to clean. -
Ok, so here are the cars I'd like to have: City car: Dacia Logan Small family car: Dacia Duster Large family car: -- Executive car: -- Luxury Car: Mercedes Benz G Class Sports car: -- Grand tourer: -- Supercar: -- Convertible: -- Roadster: -- Minivan: -- 4x4: Land Rover Defender 110 SW Pick-Up: Land Rover Defender 130 HCPU There aren't a lot of cars I want, but I prefer simple and reliable cars. Also, i didn't write any supercars or sports cars because they draw too much attention and I don't think that they are really useful in the day to day life.

I got a PS3 because a friend of mine also had a PS3(he is the only one I know who owns a PS3) so we could share games and because almost all the electronic devices my family has are Sony so it seemed a logic choice and I don't regret buying it. After that I also bought a PS2 so that I could play PS2 games on it, this is the only reason I bought it.

Trial truck 10 - LYNX
Sergiu replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I can't believe how well this trial truck drives and it seems to go over obstacles without any problem. The double independent XL drive is also very interesting, but are the universal joints strong enough for a trial truck? In my MOC the cross in the u-joint always pops out when high torque is required. Great model. -
MOC: Dutch DAF fire engine
Sergiu replied to Ralph_S's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Amazing truck with very realistic details. I like very much the front of the cab and the engine. The firetruck makes a very good pair with the ambulance. Keep up the great work. -
[WIP]Telehandler
Sergiu replied to Fistach's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
In my opinion, there are too many motors for a single BB, and not all are really necessary, like the motor for the dummy engine, but if it works well I don't think that the number of motors is a problem. -
When I build a set I usually take all the parts from the part list on each step but sometimes I miss some and then I have to disassemble the model and then reassemble it because you can't really miss a part in Technic set.

[WIP]Telehandler
Sergiu replied to Fistach's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great and huge telehandler, but I think you used too many motors. I hope it works well and I can't wait to see the video. -
The 2010 sets seem quite impressive, especially the City and Technic ones. I like very much the Excavator, which looks like it will be completely motorized, the Mobile Crane is also nice although I don't think it'll be as impressive as the 8421 Mobile Crane. Thanks for sharing!

I just bought and assembled the 8265 Front Loader and it is very impressive.

I think I'll wait for Gran Turismo 5, it looks like it will be a great game.
