  1. Well, they could potentially have a bit more varied expressions, but for what they are, I like em!
  2. No - I lack the funds to build MORE ships. I can build Port Cochraine and finish off the Alcatani with what I currently have :) Though, come to think of it, I dont have enough people to man either... *sigh* I'll complete both once I finish sorting my collection - I have all my peices separated into 7 categories: Blocks, Odd peices, Flat panels, Vehicle peices, house/garden accesories, figure accesories, and figures. Each of the first 5 are then color-coded. The figures have been split into their separate 3 peices and put in different cans so that I can build new figures at will out of them, and the figure accesories are in yet another case where they are organized by type - pirate gear with pirate gear, adventurers gear with adventurers gear, etc. And I currently have a 12" by 12" by 12" box of unsorted Legos to put into these categories :P As for Port Cochraine, I've already layed out the baseplates and figured out the foundations of the buildings, as well as built a few test peices like half a tavern and a bridge. But, so that I have something to show for my words, I guess ill finish the Alcatani before I continue :) - Helden "How the crap do I change my forum name?" Ravensomething
  3. Oh, right :) Well, to answer your question, YES, the name was inspired by a certain Zefram Cochrane. However, it wasnt so much a "Homage" or "Referance" as "Hey, this name would make a REALLY good port name."
  4. Well, I must say, its far better and far more origional then MOST Lego stop-motion you see. (See the new Stop-Motion BZP fad for more details. 1 frame per second choppyness! woo!) The use of real-time film and actual water/plastic water is VERY origional and cool. The animation itself, while a bit choppy, is good when you concider these are legos. Im sure it took a fair bit of time to do. But it could still be done a bit better :/ Some of the poses are simply unnatural, the rain falling straight down is rather dumb looking, and most of the voice acting is rather bland. But still, when viewed all-around, very nice!
  5. I guess I should feel lucky that all I need are small amounts of troops to act as the Marine compliments on my ships :-P Still, those ARE some impressive armies. Im sure its hard for him to part with them :-/
  6. I'd have to say probably "loosly" based around that picture. It has the general feel and design of what im trying to do, but would be nigh-on impossible to replicate with Lego bricks. I do however like the basic layout - particularly the bridges and that giant crane-building - so it WILL be similar. Unfortunetly, all building is on hold until I finish organizing and sorting my lego collection. I have a *giant* bucket of unsorted legos as well as the need to color-organize what I already HAVE organized. So thatll probably take me a few days to get through :/
  7. http://www.toysrus.com.hk/lego/images/piraka/800_THOK.jpg Maby?
  8. It is innovative because the face is, in fact, backward. You're looking at the back of it, which looks unique :) EDIT: I think. Maby. Im confused.
  9. Aye ^_^ Well, ive got the basic design layed out.... Now I just need to figure out how I want to place the foundations. *wanders off to go do so*
  10. Ah - yes! I found it on this website: http://homepage.mac.com/arekkusu/FF/artw/ Fighting Fantasy Artwork, apparently. The art itself is called Khare - the Cityport of Traps. Thanx for keepin' me in line, Phes ^_^ *goes off to analyze his ground plate positioning for the MOC*
  11. Hullo me hearties! Well, with the completion of the Alcatani immenant, I have begun thinking of other Pirate-related projects. Those who have read the other topic know that I have two more ships lined up - however, to build them, I will need to buy a fair bit off of Bricklink and I am temporarily out of funds. So, reflecting on the inquiries presented about Port Cochraine, the central port in my Pirates of the Archipalego setting, I decided to google image search pirate ports. In the end, I found an image that pretty much perfectly represents my plans for the building of Port Cochraine: Once I finish the Alcatani, I will set in to building a port scene with the general theme presented in that picture. Thoughts? Suggestions? Commentary? Thanx, - The Lord Admiral
  12. @ Mister Phes: HMS means His Majestys Ship ;) Only British ships use HMS.
  13. Yer missing the point. 2001, with such things as the MNOLG I, appealed to all ages. 2006-7, with greg at the helm, takes what was the glory of old bionicle and punts it into the mud.
  14. Yes. They are dead metiphorically speaking, as in, their personalities are dead and any semblance of how kick-megablocks they were supposed to be is dead when they got beaten in a disgustingly bland way. And thats not a problem because to us at least, 2007 is looking to be worse then 2006 :P
  15. Pretty good narration of the event, I must say - Even if the actual writing style itself is a bit rough around the edges ;) Only one thing, really - The lower the cannons are in the water doesnt really matter, because one can always aim the cannons DOWNWARD.
  16. Of course, I could go into the ships I have planned... H.M. Heavy Brig-of-War Ralph Kramden, Captained by one Nicholas Polemene. Built and Named in Dedication of our familys deceased cat of 18 years of age, Ralph. H.M. Privateer Light Brig-of-War Antelope, Captained by one Elcid Barret Built and Named in Dedication of the Stan Rogers song, Barrets Privateers
  17. I do :) Oh, and as for the "Lets see you do better" argument... I already have ;) And ima gonna publish it sometime this winter. Basically, I like playing with my sets. I like coming up with cool storyline premesis, throwing my Toa into it, and making it up as I go along. It is QUITE fun. Currently, im working with the Toa Metru, giving them addition items, elongating/making up storyline, etc etc. I have already rewritten the universe into something much more character driven then universe driven - For example, there is only 1 island, Metru-Nui, which eventually gets turned into Mata-Nui, and when it does, Voya-Nui splits off. And thats it ^_^ So aye, once I finish with Pirates of the Archipalego, i'll write it up for others enjoyment. Oh, and to prove I can do better then Greggers :P Its through this fanfic-verse that i've been able to keep my interest in Bionicle. Well, anyhow, b'tween KMOI and a few others here, my point of view has already pretty much been stated, so... yeah.... *sweet*
  18. O'course, if Greg were reading this, he'd site that every comic book series has always had non-canon stuff, so its OK for BIONICLE to do it, and that cheap stereotypes sell well to Bionicles target auidience: Your average video-game-psyched 5 year old.
  19. KMOI... You are MY celestial figure ^_^ Thank you for putting into words what i've been griping about for over a year now.
  20. Spanish Privateer Alcatani, currently still under construction in its berth, captained by one Pirazzo Miragliano.
  21. *shrug* I give up on debating and arguing Bionicle. For me, at least, Bionicle is now officially DEAD. More specifically, poor set design and Greg Farshtey have killed it. *sigh*
  22. Never thought that Lego would start making stuff that looks like their cheesy chinese knock-offs.
  23. Only because LEGOs current design team doesnt get out much ;)
  24. Bionicle Heroes: Adding a 5th and completely different plotline as well as defiling your favorite toa tools featuring "Toa-Tally heroes with aTiTuDe!". Seriously - Lewas axe acting as a shotgun? Pohatu's foot becoming hand held and acting like a rokkit launcha? All kinds of other blow 'em up crap? 2006: The Death of Bionicle. |-/ Helden "Give me MNOLG or give me death!" Ravensburg
