That wasn’t a laser blast. Something hit us.
marshal_banana replied to marshal_banana's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Hi! I'm happy you like it so much and I thank you for all the compliments, critics and questions. That was fun to read! And yes, there is not a single potato in the scene. :-) I'm sure the creatives at ILM also knew about the similarity of potatoes and meteorites! I really put hard effort in this scene, I always wanted to build that in Lego and I'm quite happy how it turned out. I tried a mix of different colours for the meteorites, and at the end I used dark brown bricks. On the pictures it is hard to see. But in the original scene they are also all brown. I like the contrast of the SNOT techniques to the studs on the little hunk of junk. I'm happy that the base fits the competition rules. I'm quite a big fan of rounded corners and asymmetric shapes. It also adds more movement and agility to the scene and that's all about! Fore clearance about sizes I'd like to add this quick picture (Sorry for the bad quality). -
As child I was blown away as I saw the original scene in "The Empire Strikes Back". "That wasn’t a laser blast. Something hit us." After this sentence the action was incredible. For me this is one of the most remarkable flying scenes in movie-history. And I never saw that scene build in lego before, so I thought this is maybe something for the Eurobricks, Epic Scenes competition. enjoy! MB For bigger pictures please check my flicker-account...

Immolation- the end of Anakin Skywalker
marshal_banana replied to Fat Tony's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Wow, I really like your Moc, it captures the scene perfect! To be honest I would like to see also a picture without any photoshop-editing and glowing effects in post-production. So it would be fair for the competition, also for people without photo editing software. But don't get me wrong. I think your entry is fantastic also without the effects! Cheers and good luck! -
The cockpit looks exact like the version of the Dmac-Moc. Same building-technic. Also the big wing in the middle of the ship is the same size?! I'm looking forward for high resolution pictures for clearance. Cheers!

Hm it looks really quiet similar to the fantastic MOC of Dmac! I'm looking forward to bigger pictures. Cheers!

Thanks guys for all that nice comments and compliments. I'm happy you like my work. Thanks. There will be an updated version, with even more accurate details very soon (Still waiting for good wether to take new pictures) Yes it has a detailed interior with space for one minifig maybe I will changing it later in a two-seater. Thats possible, it was hard to get them stable enough and also to catch the right point of balance. But the total hight is still correct and the proportion of the legs are even closer to the studio-model as in the official sets. Thanks mate! But on the end they going to win the war, I'm sure ;-) The future will show...but I have to say, that I'm more a fan of the original series. At the moment I'm working on two SW MOCs. I'think after these two projects I will build something different. Cheers! MB

So first part is done ;-) But I have an important question. Are custom stickers allowed? Thanks.

Nice! So I'm also in medium or large. Cheers!

Hey guys. Here comes my all new Star Wars MOC. I hope you enjoy! One of my favorite vehicles of the Star Wars saga is the at-st, the two-legged walker. I love the phenomenal design of the original one, so I had to build that in lego. I really enjoyed the UCS version but I'm not happy with the smaller sized models of TLG. I tried to keep all possible details for my version in minifigures-scale. And of course adding some nature (rotten trees and stuff) for a new vignette. The biggest challenge was to get the legs stable enough to carry the head. I'm little proud that I got a solution with less technicbricks. Cheers!

In my set it was exactly the same. In the new (not certified) MF-set last year. I never had missing parts in any sets. Just in the new Imperial Flagship, the second dress (Captains Daughter) was missing. I just got a red one. :-(

Hey guys. So I’m happy you like it! If LEGO would made the MF like this, it would be to expensive, probably double price. I’m sorry there are no instructions available, because it’s just to complex. At the moment I’m rebuilding some interior parts (cockpit, hallway, sleeping room, machine room...) so be prepared for all new pictures in the future. Cheers!

REFERENCE Dusting Lego displays and layouts
marshal_banana replied to SirNadroj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
1. Clean your room every week (vacuum cleaner) 2. If there is a lot of dust on my UCS models. I use a hairdryer (cool air!!!) and a wet microfibre cloth. -
Hi There! The UCS millennium falcon is brillinat, outstanding in termes of detail, but I was disappointed of the lame interior, so I build up the model from ground and adding a full movie accurate and detailed interior. It took me 4 moth to complete it. A strong base-plate was needed, because I had to remove every single supporting-beam in the core. At the beginning I had serious structural problems and the model collapsed several times. Now it's even stronger and heavier than the original construction! You can carry it with two hands. Overview: Some details: illumination: I added Lego-LEDs, for the realistic look. There are lights in the gunner-station, the loading ramp, three in the cockpit, the two front floodlights and in the cargo-bay. But the biggest investment was the "working" sublight engine. The solution is build in 100% lego no modified bricks. Total 16 Lego-LEDs (also 32 lights). The work isn't finished. I'm still working on some details... I hope you enjoy!

I've got so many requests for the instructions of my Hoth vignette. So here is a "workshop" for a vignette like that. It includes the P-tower laser cannon, the stand and snow techniques. (and yes, there is no snowspeeder, sorry:-) Full instructions on my flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marshal-banan...57623371149584/

Wow. What a great response on my posting First thanks for putting this on the frontpage, that's an honor. And all the comments and compliments, I'm happy. I can share instructions for the 1.4 FD P-Tower laser cannon, its quite simple. The speeder is complicated. Maybe this will help you out for the moment: Larry's breakdown shot Cheers! Marshal Banana

Hi there! I build a scene of the Rebel frontline on the ice planet Hoth, depicting a Snowspeeder T-47 zooming into action, and the Rebel infantry below. The original set (7130, Snowspeeder) was released in 1999, that was one of my first Star Wars Sets. I've dreamed to rebuild the scene as a vignette for a long time. I just love the suspense captured in the movie: The rebels are waiting for the big battle on hoth. "When the P-Tower gets ready to fire, you can feel the charge, hear the hum, see the dish light up it's a moment of hope. And then the blast just bounces off an AT-AT and you realize that the situation is hopeless" Some details: You can open the cockpit for minifigure access. The detailed seat and control panels. I don't like printet plates. So I've used some unconventional parts like the radios. The harpoon gun has a working retractable cable. And there are movable air brakes. More details like the remarkebel red signs on the bottom side. The cooling grill and the engines behind it. The design of the snowspeeder is inspired by Larry Lars creation. There are also some new Sets included, such as the 8083 Rebel Trooper Battle Pack and some new parts (windscreen) of the set 5866-1: Rotor Rescue. For more and bigger pictures don't miss: http://www.flickr.com/photos/marshal-banana/ Cheers!

Hey there. Greetings from switzerland! I’m finally returned to Lego after some years in darkness. As a child I started with my favorite themes: castle, pirates and space. My room was always a little Legoland. Now I' m 26 years old and got back with the spectacular Star Wars UCS models. (Yes, they got me also with this franchise) Creativity is a big part in my life, so I work as grafik designer, at my freetime I take care about the stage design of a drama group in my neighborhood, I like drawing and photographing - and Lego ist just another way to express myself... I always try to get the best out of each model so I started to MOD the TLC-models, the biggest project so far was to create a movie accurate interior for the UCS millennium falcon, with lights and every thing you can imagine, I'm still on the way. After I read an article in a culture magazine about MOCs and AFOLs and a research in the internet. I was just blown away of the fantastic creations of you guys! So I decide to start my old hobby and collect parts and colours just to create new worlds, that no one seen before. Thats my credo I started for a competition, on classic pirates, one of my loved Lego themes, and so I sined up here. I'm really pleased to be a part of this community. Cheers! Hannes, Marshal Banana
