  1. It's done. The model is finished! Facts: Minifigscale: 96 cm long, 100.5 cm long (lowered main ramp) Weight: approximability 20kg Part count: over 10’000 Powerfunctions: 4 xl motors, 5 m motors, 4 receivers, 4 batterypacks, 22 Lego LED-lights Powered radio-controlled Functions: - driving: forward reverse - stearing - main ramp: up and down - crane: up and down, in and out - conveyer band: forward and reverse Other features: fully interior on three floors in the front half of the model and a detailed cockpit (removable roof) second crane in the back of the workshop, lighted smelter. Building and planning time: 9 month Thanks to: - My girlfriend for her comprehension and lovely support. - CopMike from eurobricks.com, who donated some extremely rare reddish brown parts. - Derjoe for his inspiration at LEGO Fanwelt 2010. - The fantastic LEGO community on flickr and eurobricks Credits to: - Baronsat for his fantastic Bantha design - dzine123 for his skeleton - Turtlebot by Legoloverman - Wall-e by JimmytheJ Movie accurate lighting was also an important goal for me. The look is achieved with LEGO LED-lights 22 pairs of 'em. An overlook of all important details of the model. This is the "ugly" side of the sandcrawler. The original filming model was only finished on the right side. So I had some room for my own creativity Also an important goal was to create an accurate interior with a lot of functions and playing features. I will follow up with a video as soon as possible
  2. So my friends, the project is finished. I will come up with all the fine details about my UCS sandcrawler in near future Just to tease you, I show you something about size Now I have to shoot some pictures and movies
  3. Oops! Never saw that before! Thank you so much guys (and sorry for my late replay  )
  4. Just for answer your question (Sorry for OT, for any questions, please PM me): I like the dioramas more and more. I love the falcon too, but an empty cockpit The bar is cool, also the band and I like the banthas!
  5. Hey thank you! (Didn't saw it til now ;-)

  6. Its a really cool improvement and as you know I like also the fact that you achieve all details without any stickers. I look forward to your diorama! Cheers MB
  7. Yes shure that's not bothering me. But if you compare the other models and displays in miniland, such as all these fantastic towns with an incredible rich amount of details, I really don't understand why they give us on the other hand an emty hoth base with absolute no details beside of a x-wing and two pilotes.
  8. I found some pictures of the Star Wars Miniland in Billund. Ben's photostream I'm not that exited about it. All these emptiness in the dioramas and lovelessness for details. It actually looks unfinished. What do you think? But for my final verdict I have to visit Legoland Germany this summer.
  9. This question let me think of this fantastic LEGO campaign of 2006. I think imagination is everything! Sure its nice and challenging to work as close as possible to the real thing but it's not necessary. For my MOCs I'm trying the best to achieve all possible details as you see in my current project. But thats just my personal way. I also like simple and smart solutions.
  10. Yes they do. But as I sad it's still a wip. That's why I wrote that I will redesign the crawlers.
  11. Still work in progress, but you get an idea how it will be looking when it's finished Things to do: -boarding ramp -crane -details on the crawlers -stronger gear boxes -the roof -main hatch interior -cockpit lighting and interior -adjusting some details So that's a lot Probably the better version: sinatra I'm a big fan of the tv-serie mad men, and addicted to laid back songs like these
  12. For me the winner is Def's version 2. He did a clean design with the best effects. The banner also captures the new LEGO-boxdesign 2011 with darth maul.
  13. As I sad, I still have some mechanical problems. For the moment I can't steer but I' m going to use new axles with stopper and some bigger wheels and then It should be working again It's running by three battery boxes. Two for the driving mechanism and steering and one for lights, ramp, crane... Sure better pictures will follow, as I'm finished with the model.
  14. It’s fun you're always bitching about my model . It’s the first x-wing I’ve consructed and I really hope you come up with a fantastic model in your 9th version! The inaccuracy of the to small engines is included in the most MOCs on your list and also in all official models. You have forgotten one of the best x-wings in minifigscale of all times (from psiaki): He has a really different and interesting technique for the nose and also the windshield is working better then your and LEGO’s version. The good point in your WIP: -the angles of the nose are spot on. Things to work on: -the nose is to big compared to your engines (but this was already sad) -the intakes are clunky and ugly. This is probably better -maybe you can come up with a more advanced wing folding mechanism as just hinges. So keep up your good work, I'm looking forward to your finished model. Cheers MB
  15. Hey my friends it's time for an update. The crawler is about 15 kg, whey heavier then expected. I still have problems with my gears, I have already a solution, but again the parts are missing. the motors are working surprisingly well as you will see in the short video. It's kind an overview of my work of the last 4 months. So enjoy! klick
  16. The middle part is finished. Now I'm working on the electrics and light... and I have again serious problems. Two battery boxes will probably not make it. The crawlers are also a big problem, not because of the xl motors but because of the gear assembly. I have to think about a new concept and again I'm waiting for new parts as longer axles and wheels and I still have no Idea about the ramp mechanism yet But the good news: I have the parts for finishing the sandcrawler about 95%
  17. Good work! I did the same test with two crawlers powered, with the same result!
  18. It's the most expensive thing I build in LEGO. With all the PF-stuff as light, motors, receivers. I planned about six month for the model and I'm actually far over my LEGO-buget for a year! It's crazy
  19. So, the back is finished. Where do I get: in reddish brown (new brown) there are only two on bricklink, I need six My crawler will feature an accurate interior in the front half of the crawler and also the cockpit. It will be as close as possible to the cross section of the star wars compendium. but I'm trying to keep some surprises
  20. Hi Cavegod. A good update. But there are some points I would change: The biggest one: -There is a fault in your chassis if you compare to this picture. Just the crawlers are connected to the main body and there should be a gab between the block (Starboard boarding gear) in the centre: -The corridor in the middle of the sandcrawler should end up in a curve and not straight. -I'm not sure about the mix of old and new brown (but that's maybe the flashlight) but for the rust I would take 1x1 or 1x2 darkorange plates. The 1x4 gives you a less accurate pattern. Cheers! MB
  21. Oh, I like them. It's quiet difficult to build diffrent in this case. And we all copied Georg Lucas There is also an other version from roguebantha_1138: For me the winner is the original design of Larry Lars, sure. But its nice to see the versions of other builders. I think Brickdoctor's design goes a step further with the snot-wings in therms of originality but I really enjoy these two additions.
  22. Yes, that's also my opinion, if the amount of detail stays the same. But normally with LEGO you can catch more details in bigger models. It's also easier. That's maybe a reason why LEGO designs huge and oversized UCS models. But personally I prefere to build in minifigscale and thats for me also an important point in my MOCs. But back to topic This is how it looks for the moment: the key of success is the internal frame.
  23. Yes it's actually larger. If you calculate with 170 centimeter as standard body hight for europeans and with the hight of a minifig with 4,2 centimeter, then you will get following results: 67 cm for the MF and 92 cm for the crawler. But bigger is alweys better
  24. Actually no. If you use the Star Wars databank it says that the Sandcrawler is about 37 meters and the Millennium Falcon 27 meters long. The LEGO UCS Millennium Falcon is 84 cm long, so the Sandcrawler should be about 115 cm to fit minifigscale. And if finished I'm quiet close to this length. Beside that the studiomodel is about 125 cm long.
  25. why? You have to, I did it!
