  1. Here are some spherical footballs ("Soccer Balls" in the USA) made of Technic Plates and Hinge Plates: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=43397 .
  2. "Philo" (Phillippe Hurbain) has posted instructions on how to make a "Lego Sphere Sculpture": http://philohome.com/sphere/sphere.htm . If you want it to be "Studs Not On Top" (SNOT), just roll it 90 degrees.
  3. There sure are a lot of functions in this Supercar! I like the pop-up lights and the convertible top (which remind me of this red Porsche 928 ). The shape of the car reminds me of this Mercedes 450 SL convertible . The functional dashboard knobs are a nice feature -- I don't believe I've seen that on a Technic MOC before. If this is your FIRST Supercar, we can only guess at what other fantastic future Supercars are coming in the future! Is there any chance that you will be modeling this in Lego Digital Designer (LDD)?
  4. This is one "WICKED" tank! I like its efficient, compact size and the rotating sensor on top "means business"! Can this tank follow a red laser pointer dot on the floor, or can it follow a focused flashlight (torch) beam on the floor? Does your Ultrasonic Sensor have a certain distance programmed for it, so that it does a certain subroutine? I would be interested if your described your NXT programming a bit.
  5. I'd make this cone-shaped mountain, slide it down my prone body, and have an erupting volcano with real, hot yellow "lava"!
  6. This real FLYING CAR (just approved by the Federal Aviation Administration in the United States) is just BEGGING to be modeled in Lego TECHNIC! "The Transition® is only 6'9" tall and 80" wide with wings folded....uses high-octane unleaded auto gas." From the Specifications page http://www.terrafugia.com/TransitionSpecs.pdf : Cruise: 100 kts (115 mph) Rotate: 70 kts (80 mph) Stall: 45 kts (51 mph) Range: 400nm (460 mi) Takeoff over 50’ obstacle: 1700’ Fuel burn: 5 gph Fuel tank: 20 gallons Useful Load: 430 lbs On road: 30 mpg, 65 mph Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) Story: http://www.krem.com/news/consumer/Flying-car-gets-OK-from-FAA--97511639.html . Video: .Terrafugia Transition website: http://www.terrafugia.com/index.html "Classified as a Light Sport Aircraft, the Transition ® requires a Sport Pilot certificate to fly and is designed to drive on public roadways and park in a standard garage. Terrafugia successfully completed flight and drive testing of its Proof of Concept Transition ® in 2009. Refundable airframe reservations are being accepted with first delivery scheduled for late 2011." You can buy your own flying car for ~US$194,000
  7. This is a very good video. For those who want to have a "rematch" between the two countries, you can play on Sariel's Table Soccer: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=43622 .
  8. The #4519, 3-studs-long (3L) Technic Axle has been around since 1988: http://peeron.com/inv/parts/4519 . In regards to "customizing" Lego models by "cutting" parts, there have been times when I have had to cut down a 12L red Technic Axle because I did not have a 10L red Technic Axle. Since they're quite rare and expensive, WHO CARES whether it's cut or not? The ends of the axles are often hidden from view anyway. The 100%-Lego "purists" are often foolish with how they spend their money and time. Why hold up a project just because one is missing a part because it's the wrong color or length? Most of the time, folks are not in some sort of contest, nor are displaying their MOCs at public exhibitions, at Legoland, etc. I personally don't have a problem with any Lego users PAINTING their parts, adding custom stickers, etc. It's THEIR MOC. Lego can do a lot of things, but it can't do everything. Sometimes it IS necessary/desirable to customize parts.
  9. Want to make simple Lego cars that can be raced against each other? On his Brickshelf folder http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=361329 , "Sheepo" has posted an impressive collection of Lego Technic RC cars. Using various combination of Medium and XL Power Functions (PF) motors, he has raced these in the HispaLUG competition: 10 photos of "2XL-3" ( http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=387840 ); uses two PF XL motors: 10 photos of "4XL-P14" ( http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=436643 ); uses four PF XL motors: 7 photos of "Kart-P15" ( http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=436644 ); "uses 2XL engines for transmission and M engine for steering, only 490gr weight" : 9 photos of the "RC1-2XL-3" set of cars( http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=369573 ); one car uses one Lego RC motor and the other one uses two PF XL motors: 6 full-size photos of AUTOCENTER (Return-to-Center) STEERING -- "simple and very effective" ( http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=361332 ); thumbnail images of the larger pictures appear below:
  10. The July 2010 "Lego TECHNIC Challenge" theme is "Space". From the website http://technic.lego.com/en-us/competition/default.aspx [click this link TWICE to get past the Lego homepage]: "Take the Technic Challenge – Outer Space! This is the LEGO® Technic Challenge competition! - here you have a chance at showing the LEGO Technic designers your designs and your abilities with the Technic elements. "The competition is very simple 1. Build a model out of primarily LEGO Technic elements. 2. Take a picture of the model 3. Press the button below to Enter the competition 4. Enter your contact information 5. Upload your image "What to build? This month (July) the competition is all about Space – what would LEGO® Technic be in space? – is it shuttles, space stations, moon-buggies, satellites or something else? – you tell us, or rather… show us! The theme is space, the model is up to you, be it rockets, shuttles or Space Stations, not even the sky is the limit here. "How does it work? Right now you can submit models - On the 19th of July - a panel of judges consisting of designers, marketing managers, building instruction artists and more will pick out (of all submissions) 10 finalists that will then be put up for voting here on the site. Considerations for the Nominees will be based on Model, Design, build to theme and age. "The winner will receive a prize and also continue to the Big Finale in October."
  11. On Brickshelf, Erik Leppen posted this studless Supercar that looks similar to a Bugatti EB110: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=436700 . There are two pages of photo-sequence building instructions for those who may want to make their own. It sports a frame chassis and modular construction.
  12. This "Foosball" table is great! I was surprised that you didn't program the buzzing drone of Vuvuzela horns, like the fans hear in the FIFA World Cup games in South Africa.... I bet if you put some food on one of the balls, "Lucius" the Hamster would score a goal!
  13. Yes, AFOLs next want South Bronx New South Wales!
  14. On his Brickshelf gallery http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=308632 , Nico71 has posted "A Little MOC, inspired by Libeherr L508. The MOC is for a contest at Setechnic.com, Under 400 parts. Instructions."
  15. @ daftendirekt: Grohl's Brickshelf folder http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=grohl666 has many photos for the non-Power-Functions Technic MOCs he pictured above. Many of them have enough photos to be able to figure out how build them yourself.
  16. On MOCPages, Piotr Pilarski posted 14 pictures and a detailed description about Gear Ratios for his "7-Speed Compact Gearbox" ( http://mocpages.com/moc.php/210670 ). Perhaps it's small enough for a Lamborghini Technic model:
  17. Want to come up with a "fake" Lego Technic engine that does not use the same-old 2850 Technic engine cylinders , in this design? Well, "Crowkillers" has posted 6 different engine designs that are VERY REALISTIC and which you could drop into your MOC. There are several photos on his Brickshelf gallery http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=crowkillers for you to make some yourself. "American Muscle V-8" (6 photos): "Studless Corvette L86 V8" (9 photos): "Studless Lamborghini Diablo V12" (6 photos): "Studless Ferrari F430 V8 Engine" (4 photos): "Studless Mustang Cobra Supercharged V8" (6 photos): "Studless Dodge Viper V-10" (6 photos):
  18. "Crowkillers' has posted his Lego TECHNIC Transformer on his Brickshelf gallery http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=342958 . There is a sequence of 8 photos that shows how a Technic car can transform into this robot:
  19. OK, so far TLG has produced these two Lamborghini models: 2009's LEGO Racers 741-piece Set 8169, "Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4": 2010's LEGO Racers 801-piece Set 8214, "Lamborghini Polizia": What Lamborghini model would you like to see offered by TLG in TECHNIC? Here are the current 2010 models (from ConceptCarz ): ENCO Exclusive Gallardo LP-560-4: BF Performance Gallardo GT600: LP570-4 Supperleggera: EDO Competition Gallardo LP600: Murcielago LP640: Murcielago LP670-4: Murcielago China Edition: Reventon Roadster:
  20. Oh! I did not realize that there are more than three commercials available on that "AFOL TV" YouTube website. 21. From the website https://www.dlblairsweepstakes.com/j6813/index.form;jsessionid=C4BDDA318EA75111CB35D685F5FBC65D , youngsters and AFOLs alike can enter the "Lego Design Challenge" : "The LEGO® Holiday Workshop elves have swapped their sleds for surf boards and left the North Pole to go hang-ten at the beach. While our tiny toy builders ride the waves, the LEGO Toymaker needs some extra help preparing for the holidays! "Do YOU have what it takes to design a cutting edge creation? Enthusiasts ages 5 and older are invited to submit an idea for a new LEGO creation. Develop your new LEGO creation using a maximum of 100 LEGO bricks and/or elements. Then, submit a photo or image of your creation along with a brief description of your creation (50 words or fewer). You may build your creation using physical bricks and elements or you may develop your creation virtually, using the LEGO Design byME application. [NOTE: Press that link TWICE to get past the Lego homepage.] "See Official Rules for complete details." One key "Official Rule" -- "ELIGIBILITY: This promotion is open only to residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 5 years of age or older as of 6/24/10." ENTER BY THURSDAY, AUGUST 8, 2010.
  22. Whoa! This is one great MOC! It is very magnificent, like the one that Grazi posted on his Brickshelf gallery http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=74562 and which Blakbird rendered. I wouldn't worry about the sagging -- real big rigs flex as their long steel frames go down the road. From the pictures below that you posted on Flickr, are you thinking about making some changes?
  23. Using the Yahoo! Babel Fish online translator http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_txt , here is that SeTechnic contest webpage translated into English: http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_url?doit=done&tt=url&intl=1&fr=bf-res&trurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.setechnic.com%2FForum%2Ftopic3138.html&lp=fr_en&btnTrUrl=Translate . There seemed to be many different interpretations of the 8868 Air Tech Claw Rig done by various AFOLs. NOTE: You can use Yahoo! Babel Fish to translate the original French text to your own native language; there are many to choose from.
  24. "Martin the Insekt" made this instructional video on how to make a Lego Gatling Gun RBP (Rubber Band Pistol). It can shoot 90 rubber bands!
  25. 1992's "Air Tech Claw Rig" Set 8868 is regarded as one of the best Lego TECHNIC sets. As an old-style "studded" model, the 970-piece set used pneumatics in its "claw". On his Brickshelf folder http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=433149 , "Benny3000" has made "A studless adaptation of the legendary 8868 set. Made for a Setechnic challenge." He has 4 pages of photo-sequence building instructions for those who want to replicate it.
