  1. mrTECHNICER posted this of his "second version of buggy. This time it got automated trafficators, 4-speed remote controled gear box, brakes and brakes lights. It's got suspension too."
  2. Yes, the 8052 does look like a Scania (a Swedish truck brand):
  3. On his Brickshelf gallery, Turkish AFOL "mysnoopy" posted 13 pictures of this "V8 Hot Car". It looks like a kind of "British" car, with classic lines:
  4. Crowkillers is auctioning his New Custom 2011 Lego Technic V8 Supercar Gold Edition; bidding ends this Sunday, January 30. He demonstrates all of the car's functions in this :
  5. @ Conchas: According to this Bricklink Catalog page, the 8880/8857/5533 sets DO USE the rare 2997 "Tire 81.6 x 34 ZR Technic Straight Tread" (see the first picture below). The x1825 "Tire 81.6 x 36 R Technic Straight Tread" (second picture below) is even more rare (and expensive) than the 2997 tire (according to this Bricklink Price Guide). Perhaps you got things backwards? I agree with you that both tires will fit the 44772 rims, since the Bricklink "Tire on Wheel" Relationship Match #280 shows them both.
  6. Kayteck111 posted this YouTube video of a "Lego Trike Bike - motorized and remote controlled." It sports a front suspension and return-to-center steering. He used one Power Functions (PF) Medium motor for steering, and one FP XL Motor for drive with a 2:1 gear ratio. It's quite nimble! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6VPpYU9OB4
  7. @ blueShinyApple: You really got a good deal on your 8851 set! In case you don't open your box, here is an excellent of the set done by redgoldeyes using Autodesk Inventor 2010 software:
  8. [WARNING: Heavy math content!] Nico71 posted this of his Lego Integraph (an instrument used in mathematics for plotting the integral of a graphically defined function). On SeTechnic, he explains his creation on this post (translated from French to English using Yahoo Babelfish). Here is a quick summary; click on the link above for more "mathématiques". "And after step badly of study of diagram and thanks to Strawberry, I built my first integraphe. The goal of a integraphe is to plot the integral curve of a definite curve which one traverses with a pointer. For example the curve integral of the right-hand side Y=x and Y=1/2x2 (parabola) with constant meadows."
  9. You paid 50 Pounds for it (about $80.02) on this recent eBay auction. Good deal!
  10. Be sure to check out Sariel's "Crusader" halftrack: http://sariel.pl/2009/04/crusader/ : Egwin14 posted this short (37 seconds) of his Lego Technic Halftrack with Power Functions: Lego7777777 posted this of his Halftrack that uses the small Technic Link chains: If you don't have a lot of parts, jojoguy10's Halftrack would work: .
  11. Nico71 has Building Instructions for this Great Ball Contraption "Wave Machine" posted on his website:
  12. Here are some photos of real Willys Jeep axles to help you decide:
  13. On TechnicBRICKS, Conchas posted Part 2 of the multi-part interview of the 8043 set designers. Part 3 of 3 is here.
  14. @ efferman: I like the idea of combining the 32197 "Wheel 81.6 x 34 ZR Three Spoke Swirl" (from the 8448 Super Street Sensation set) with the 54120 "Tire 94.8 x 44 R Balloon"! It just goes to show you that the Bricklink Tire on Wheel Relationships webpage does not show all possible combinations for their "Match #285". + = There are several Willys Jeeps driving around in here in the Pacific Northwest of the USA. Although it may not be common to see them "jacked up" with portal axles, I'm sure it has been done. Go for it!
  15. Can anybody think of uses for these unusual Lego "Liftarms" below, in a TECHNIC MOC? Please add some suggestions. 50904 "Bionicle Visorak Torso, Liftarm 8 x 3 x 2" -- I always thought that this could be used in some sort of Forklift, or for a Trial Truck's portal axle setup (to get greater ground clearance). Any ideas? 32079 "Technic, Liftarm 1 x 9 Offset Crossover" -- could the permanently-fixed pivot on the end may be useful in some steering element? The part was used in two Lego Technic motorcycle sets (8417 and 8430) and in the back of the 8462 Tow Truck (pictured below). Your suggestions? 32308 "Technic, Liftarm 3 x 7 x 2 Fork 3 Fingers" -- I think that TECHNIC AFOLs have a few of these, but don't use them much. They appeared in mostly Roboriders sets. The liftarm configuration would make a good "flipper" or something that requires lots of leverage -- any ideas? 45803 "Technic, Liftarm 3 x 7 L-Shape Double" -- Again, it could be useful in a Forklift, but its structure could be used for something else. It appeared in 8 Lego RC sets; it appears to be made out of rubber.... 45568 "Technic, Liftarm 3 x 11 Flexible Double", 45571 "Technic, Liftarm 3 x 11 x 3 Gooseneck Flexible Double", bb87 "Technic, Liftarm 3 x 15 x 3 Gooseneck Flexible Double", and bb91 "Technic, Liftarm 3 x 23 Flexible Double" (pictured in order below) -- These all were used in Lego RC sets (for their impact resistance), but could their rubber composition be useful in Trial Trucks?
  16. LEGOMASTERFREAK has developed an entire collection of Lego "Robot Wars"/ Lego Gladiators robots. On MOCpages, he said that they are all "My Lego Battlebots. Only Lego, rubberbands and cord. Everything studless and no modified lego pieces. Watch the !" The action/carnage starts at the 2:00 (2 minute) point. These are large, powerful creations that have lots of torque!
  17. On TechnicBRICKS, Conchas published Part 1 of a very interesting interview with the designer of the 8043 Lego Technic Motorized Excavator: To be continued....
  18. Sariel was correct -- the 8070 is on the right. I corrected my post above.
  19. On the Crowkillers website, Paul Boratko posted 13 pictures and this description of his 2011 Supercar: "I started building the chassis for my new Supercar in September 2010 after the first Preliminary Photos of the new 8070 Technic Supercar leaked out. I really liked what the designers at Lego had done with this new model. I had often thought about having the hood and doors open remotely before with some of my previous models, but I had always thought that this was actually a boring feature and really didn't offer up any type of challenge as I have done many doors and hoods that open and operate in many diferent ways in the past, but I was intrigued with how Lego was using a control box where the transmission would normally be to switch between all of these different functions and a motor to actually move them , so I decided to try my hand at something similar, but without the motor as I am not a big fan of the much too large battery boxes or power function motors. I instead went with a simple knob that I incorporated into the rear end of the car that opens all of the functions by turning it clockwise and closes them by turning it counter-clockwise. At first I was following the same pattern that Lego was using by having the 2 positions on the left (forward and back) to open and close each door, but I just felt that it would be better to have the proper position on each side of the control plate in the up position for the door on that side." There is another webpage showing 5 pairs of side-by-side comparison pictures between the upcoming Lego Technic 8070 Supercar (1H2011 model) and his 2011 Supercar. Crowkillers' 2011 Supercar (in a chalky, dull red color) is on the left, and the 8070 (in brighter red) is on the right:
  20. On his Brickshelf gallery, Miha2548 posted 60 images of his "Fifth trial-truck. Rear dependent suspension, 4x4, gear ratio is 4.66. Very high performance." The shows it in the high mountain snows of his country.
  21. In order to see the various building styles, I used Anio's list above to sort the various 500-piece-and-above Lego Technic models by the (primary) designers' name(s). I used Bricklink's catalog function to look up the pictures of the original set boxes. Can anybody draw any conclusions from the different building styles? 22. Slovakian AFOL "LUGSK" posted this short of TLG's 8068 animation. He wrote, "With this very realistic looking helicopters can perform daring aerial rescue. Move chainrings ensure simultaneous rotation ..."
  23. @ Apemax: Could you post new pictures of your new gear configurations? The original pictures do not show the current situation, so it's hard to diagnose the current problem with words alone....
  24. 6538b "Technic, Axle Connector (Ridged with x hole x orientation)":
  25. Jovel did post 48 renders of Building Instructions on his Brickshelf gallery. Maybe Jovel used one of Philo's (Phillippe Hurbain's) "Lego Accessories for Photographers".
