  1. Hi Guys, Just finished building the new red passenger train, picked it up for $199 at Toyworld. They're stocking all stores up with them for an upcoming catalogue, as well as the train station and the large fire station. As far as I know they're not advertising the cargo train. This thing is brilliant by the way, very happy with my purchase.
  2. Brilliant work! Please do share some tips, particularly with the switch tracks. Well done.
  3. Get yourself a metroliner and a train station and you'll have some nice hustle and bustle.
  4. I agree with the Vojvodinac, you need fences. There's no knowing what those neighbours will do to each other.
  5. 1 - Trains, I've always been fascinated with them. 2 - Town, just goes hand in hand with the first. 3 - Pirates, off on another tangent but I love them. :-)
  6. Personally I love to get home from work and see my package has arrived. I'll then take it down with me, put on a nice DVD and build in a nice and relaxed environment where I can really enjoy it. Seeing as the sets I tend to buy are older and rarer MISB sets that I wanted from my childhood (predominantly trains) I really try to savour that moment. I've got a bunch of pics I've been meaning to post of some rare builds of old sets from fresh MISB sets, gotta get around to it.
  7. Brilliant review of one of my all-time favourite sets. Well done! P.S Who's the jerk that scored a 1 in the votes??
  8. I agree with this, if you're looking to make some money there are better ways of doing it than Lego. Personally, I'm one of those guys that will pay for a MISB set just to have the pleasure of opening it. I have paid through the nose on more than one occasion for this honour, my most recent being the 4537 Octan Tanker from 1994 and the 4551 Crocodile Loco from 1991. Nothing brings me more joy than opening a brand new box of a set that I would have died for as a kid but could never have. Investors in Lego might think I'm crazy, but I'm in it for the happiness it brings.
  9. Ma joooojjjjjjjj, bravo brate! To je stvarno nesto drugo! Odlicno!! And now in English, that's simply amazing. Brillaint effort my Hrvatski friend.
  10. This topic got me thinking about the most expensive individual parts available. Some shockers here: 1. http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=fifi2...itemID=10477453 2. http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=stace...;itemID=9710385 3. http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=TASTE...;itemID=9199207 Search that I used: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?viewFr...ort=B&sz=25 Not sure anybody would be crazy enough to pay those prices.
  11. Bingo. Lego is a business, trains make up one of the most fanatical followings of Lego. They wouldn't dare not release a new series of trains to replace the discontinued lines worldwide, that would represent a massive hole in their budgets when the balance sheets are put together at the end of the financial year. They have a plan, they'll follow it through. Nothing to stress about.
  12. Purchased a Winter Toy Shop on backorder via lego.com.au. Also picked up a MISB 4551 crocodile loco via bricklink, I look forward to receiving that one in particular. Reliving my childhood, and that was never sold in Australia.
  13. Hi Thomas, worth having a look here if you're after those rather rare weighted bricks: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorI...amp;itemID=1602 They'll certainly add much more value to the set, even if they cost a pretty penny each!
  14. Hello all, This is my first post, so I wanted to make sure it was a good one. After much procrastinating I finally decided to dip into 12V trains and begin building an obsession that could not be afforded to me as a child (In Australia Lego is rather expensive, even more so when the 12V and 9V trains were going around, I'm 27 now FWIW and my parents were migrants from the old Yugoslavia). I've put together a rather nice collection, but the one that had always caught my eye was the 7760. After much researching and looking through photos sent to me from no less than 10 different sellers on Bricklink (seeing as I was spending a lot of money I wanted to be very anal retentive about this), I finally decided to make my move on one that I felt was in the best condition for the price. When it arrived I was very surprised to see how good it actually was! Box - perfect, Instructions - perfect, Stickers - perfect, Bricks - perfect! I've made a slight mod to it though (purists please don't shoot me), and installed some nice lighting to the set. I cut down the correct length of wire to ensure it was a perfect fit, and tracked down some stickers to place on the lighting bricks. The allure of this set is the rarity of the parts, in particular the blue weight bricks and the 3x2 blue windows (the windows cost an OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT on bricklink, with the cheapest selling for $29.00 US each, if you have any of these spare, CHERISH THEM!). In any case, below are some images of the progress of putting this beauty together, including the lighting modification. Quite an easy mod to make, and the effect when the train runs is priceless. I have to say that I'm a very, very proud and happy owner of one of these now, and won't be letting it go any time soon! That last shot shows the lights in action front the front as the train flies towards me. I hope that fellow owners of this magical piece of history enjoy it as much as I do.
