Spanish Churros Van is equally as awesome as the jam donut van. There's also a little cafe in there called Romeo's, if you're quick enough to get one of Nonna's Lasagne's before she sells out around midday you're in for a treat. Better than any lasagne you'll get anywhere in Melbourne, and that's saying something with our Italian population.

a) I saw your work at "Art of the Brick" at Fed Square, very impressive. b) It's amazing how people look at the QVM as an icon......unless they've worked there. It's a shame that this MOC only makes me shudder at the thought of working two of the most miserable years of my life there. When you're at Uni money is hard to come by, boy did I have to suck it up for a while there. FYI: NEVER EVER BUY A FOOTBALL/SOCCER SHIRT THERE THAT SOMEBODY TELLS YOU IS "AUTHENTIC". They would be lying through their teeth and taking your ripped off money laughing to all the way to the bank.

Target toy sale coming up. Kicks off July 21st. -
You could try raising the height of the plate between the bogies but outside of that I wouldn't think there would be much that can be done about it. It's a painful problem I agree. That being said the only real thing that goes wrong is that clip sound, it doesn't normall derail or anything like that.
-
Agree, but get yourself the relevant PF bits and pieces for it ASAP as it makes the thing so much more enjoyable. I put it off for 6 months but when I finally got them it was worth it!

If you have a spare 12V lamp you can remove the front circle plate and place a clear 1x1 round plate in it's place. It looks a lot nicer with three lights at the front.
-
Nice find! Make sure you get enough cabling to get through all of the carriages for the lighting. I'm waiting on a 7750 to turn up.....one of my most expensive buys ever. lol
-
Nice, what did it set you back in the end? Those things are hard to get at a reasonable price in good condition.

My GF bought me the tower bridge for Christmas. It sits beautifully on a polished wood display cabinet. Highly recommend it!

WTB: 12v sets, track and accessories
Brickaroo replied to Sokratesz's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
In the last two years I have amassed a damned fine collection, although personally I always attempt to "perfect sets" that I collect. This means that I look for good condition boxes, instructions, parts, stickers, etc, etc. I'm rather demanding and I will fork out for the privelege. Ebay can be great, don't just look inside your own country/region's ebay either. There are bargains to be had worldwide so make sure you check the "Worldwide" checkbox under the region. I've perfected most of my sets by scavanging from different sets I've bought. I will buy 2 or 3 of the same set, take the best parts that I want and then rebuild a second "inferior" set and sell it off for usually the same amount that I paid for it. There's only wins to be had doing this! Bricklink is best, if you buy sets with missing parts they're easily found there for a decent price mostly. The best sellers with the most stock usually have premium prices, depending on how much you're into the collectors aspect you'll fork out eventually. I have paid up to $800 AUD for sets to come into Australia. (just today I hit that mark actually) Switch tracks can be purchased second hand on Ebay starting from around $40 AUD, new ones sell from $75 and up depending on how lucky you get. Signal sets can get rather expensive but every now and again someone puts one up for $100 AUD on BUY IT NOW and I tend to jump at those! Anyway, below is what I've come to and I cannot begin to explain how much enjoyment I get out of playing with this collection: Some tips that I can share from my experience: - Cabling: DO NOT (and I cannot stress this enough) bother wasting your money on the Lego 12V grey cabling. It's hiddeously overpriced for what it is. I buy rolls of bell wire from electronic shops for roughly $20 AUD per 100M roll. That's a TON of cable, it costs a fraction of what the same amount in lego branded cable will AND it has positive/negative cables so you know what's hooking up where. Get the connectors/pins from bricklink and you're set. Make sure they're complete though and not missing the screws otherwise....you're screwed. - If you see a set on sale (particularly on ebay) at a price that you think would be around the threshold of what you're willing to pay, check what it's worth on ebay and see what it might get up to. If it's well below, snap it up fast. - Bidding on Ebay: if you want something, don't go off bidding early and inflating the price for yourself further. Others will do this regardless. Wait until the last minute and snipe that item at the death. If you don't win it, you've cranked up to what you were willing to pay and haven't overstepped your mark. If you're really after something, snipe high and make sure you're winning it. - Check the sellers feedback history: this is critical. Both Bricklink and Ebay offer this service and it's crucial to what you're about to get from your seller. If they've got less than 99% with thousands of sales go in and have a look at the reasons. You'll find that the more sales you have the more likely you're going to have an idiot buy something from you and give you idiotic feedback for no reason. If they've sold 10 items and have 2 or three negatives, steer clear. The content of why it was negative is important as some people will moan than they had to pay $2 more for shipping when their item weighed 843kg and needed to be shipped from Antarctica to the Faroe Islands. - Engine Rubbers: don't waste your money on the original Lego rubbers. They're expensive and surprisingly inferior quality and stiffen up much faster than the "home made" replicas. You can get 6 rubbers (enough for a 12V motor) for between $6 - $15 AUD on ebay, just search for "Lego train rubber" and something is usually around. This guy sells replicas and I've bought many from him: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=mcali17&itemID=18204606 he's the same guy on ebay currently. Buy from Bricklink and you'll dodge some fees and so will he. :-) Anyway, I could go on and on and on. I hope this essay doesn't blind you. Good luck! -
9. And a brilliant thread haha.

Allow the following to be remotely controlled and we're on the right track (boom-tish):

Whatever they do if they're not making great additions to the train range as they did in the 80's then they're not getting it IMO. I prefer 12V but that's only because of the complete playability of it. PF had that potential but they haven't grasped it. Trying to make a switch track is OK but gee it costs a lot to do it for each one. Requires a battery box + parts + motor + RF. 12V train switches sell for between $40 - $80 depending on condition. If PF costs so much more to get up in this case than 12V then they've failed. I know this is a small example but I feel that it illustrates the point.

I have wanted this all my life....it will arrive shortly....and it burnt a hole through my rear...... Worth every cent.

Once again I'd just like to say how much I enjoy using this software. Thanks.

I would go back to her, provide her with the contact details for a VERY GOOD optometrist, and bid her a fond farewell. lol, don't be like that.

I love shunters, I really do. They are my favourite Lego trains and this one is exceptional. Well done!

Welcome to the obsession kyphur....it never stops......ever.

Agree with this. I have some outrageous ideas for track ballasting/landscaping around a track setup but it will take some time (and investment) so I will just chip away at it as we go. It's not like I plan on ever giving up my passion for Lego trains so I've got plenty of time to work on it slowly. :-) Bojane, odakle si majstore?

Bojaneeee! Svaka ti cast, to je super! Pozdrav is Australije!

You're better off not risking it and getting one of these from a local electronics retailer: http://dicksmith.com.au/product/M9927/regulated-international-voltage-power-adaptor.jsp?bmForm=selImgPathSubFrom&bmFormID=iW.U2tX&bmUID=iW.U2tY&bmIsForm=true&bmPrevTemplate=%2Fproduct%2FM9927%2Fregulated-international-voltage-power-adaptor.jsp&bmEditable=selImgPathHdn&bmHidden=selImgPathHdn&selImgPathHdn=%2Fmedia%2FDSAU%2FProduct%2F300x300%2FM9927_0_0037023_med_v1_m56577569830762167.jpg&bmSubmit=selImgPathSub&selImgPathSub=Submit+Query&bmHidden=PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441781529&bmHidden=FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302025590&bmFields=bmFormID%2CbmHidden%2CbmIsForm%2CbmUID%2CbmForm%2CbmEditable%2CbmPrevTemplate%2CbmSubmit&bmHash=46edf9e35375c24efc4ada138d2b098ddd8de01f I've used a few on 9V sets and they work like a charm.
