  1. I am kinda of happy to know the Singapore prices...It is somehow wonderful that Singapore prices are even used as a reference to estimate its pricing for US and Europe (Usually it is the other way round) Btw, are you involved in any of the Singaporean AFOL group/forum?
  2. Thanks for all the compliments The building is indeed modified from The Guarded Inn, with bricks more readily available in the Kingdoms sets and currently. It actually fit the castle better before I decided to increase all the height of the castle walls. I will take some close-up pictures when I can spare the time, probably in the weekend. I have seen the castle before and I must say it looks really good, probably way better than what I have done. However my design do not come from there, the whole castle is based mainly on 7946. It is modular - I can take them apart for storage or when I need to move them. Will probably take some pictures of them when they are stored up the shelves.
  3. I am hoping to see this in the US or somewhere on BL where prices/shipping are reasonable...so that I can ship it in. Because I probably will never see it in Singapore, or it will probably be imported in and sold at inflated prices by some retailers. Still it isn't a bad set with 22 nice minifigs to boot. Thanks for the review
  4. Thank you for all your comments. At present, I used 5 sets of 7946 and another close to 100 DBG panels/bricks for the lower level of the Castle walls. Yah...Bricklink plays a huge role in getting the rest of the parts. Currently in plans - to put in a Wizard Tower. Maybe doing up a room for the garrison forces to rest and maybe a dining room in the future. Will take some time to put all these in place and also the medieval civilian houses - trying hard to think of a suitable design; well MMV does a great job and I am thinking along those lines
  5. Just looking for a place to showcase my castle... Pardon me for showing the surrounding as well - in Singapore we don't have much space in our homes and I got to end up displaying the whole castle on my bed and when I sleeps, it goes back up to the shelves - that the good thing about it being modular. Treasury (also featured above, just much clearer here) With a removable rooftop Double gate - for more protection Stable Actually I am constantly meddling with it. Probably won't be expanding the size anymore and will now be concentrating on putting some medieval buildings within the castle walls.
  6. 1 each for ThePenguin Darkbane Morgan19 Looks fun and cool
  7. 1 point each to 12) Diver & Surfer Entry (Build by squiz) 10) Robot & Jungle Explorer Entry (Build by Darkblane) 3) Spaceman & Pharaoh Entry (Build by Optimus) I must say I like 12 a lot, unique and refreshing.
  8. The long wait Minifig from series 1: Nurse Imaginary Minifig from series 2: Vampire A nurse was struggling for her freedom - she was hung from the top of the roof. Captured by a bloodthirsty creature and locked tightly by the handcuffs, there is not even a single chance that she would escape from her certain fate. Yet she would not meet her maker immediately - it would have appeared that the foul creature was watching her terrified expressions as some sort of entertainment. It is going to be a long time before the final moments. Driven by fear and desperation, yet with nothing to turn to for help, all she could do is to imagine the creature was no longer there. That brought her some momentary peace and relief, even deep inside she knew her fate would be similar to something she was trained to do. Her blood would be drawn out by the nasty fangs, not unlike the syringe she had so often used on patients. At this very moment, at least enjoy the hallucination that it wasn't there and soon enough she will be relieved from the nightmare...
  9. I don't know why, but after browsing through I think there are only two piece of works I really like; even though all were quite masterfully done. Lorentzen - 3 (Myths, anecdotes, legends are made from the chaotic times of violence and turmoil, passed down by the scarred, surviving veterans to their young descendents, validated only by the treasures hidden deep from the surface of the peaceful times should it ever see daylight again.) Nate - 4 (A very medieval feeling that struck my castle-loving chord right within and looking at it closely makes me realize it is perfection without any protruding studs.)
  10. I like the cheerleader best; the caveman and clown are very good too Are they coming out with LEGO Monopoly boardgame any time soon? Since no. 8 look very much like the one in Monopoly. Just wonder how they going to distribute this...
  11. I thought the lower quality only applies to the tic tac toe and chess sets - they are afterall offering a huge amount of minifigs for relatively small price. But lower quality for this...it is a quite unacceptable; it is not as if they offering this battle packs at half the price of the tic tac toe sets.
  12. Lock on! Shoot... Bang! I have a piece of it too, medium well please
  13. Just got this today - $2 cheaper than the usual. First of all, I don't know if it is the usual style; my first time getting the calender set but the building instructions are inside the box itself? I am quite unwilling to cut out, got to use this review to build some of the stuff I couldn't figure out I think it would looks very nice with the upcoming Winter Toy Shop. In terms of the build, I like the fountain best; favourite part was probably the wand and favourite minifig in the set: the Santa Claus. Overall I think it is above average - the downside I think I would have wanted a few more pieces of bricks (as always) and probably the pictures not printed in the inner part of the box but as small booklet or something
  14. What is the troll doing in the castle for the good side? He is a good troll?
  15. The old days where I owned the Black Monarch Castle and the Black Falcons - it was always about different fractions. Sometimes I even have a hard time finding the bad guys as a kid. They had the same face back then; there is only one face until the pirates came out as far as I can remember. I love those fantasy build - if I had them in the past, it would be really fun. Bad guys got to look bad...of course that in itself is fantasy (These days, bad guys can look better than the good guys). The first one that came out was perhaps the ghost figure? And it added on, only sadly I grown up and had not much time for toys. Even in computer games, how realistic is the best selling Diablo and Warcraft series? I got to agree though, as an adult, I would really love those medieval castles built with elaborate details - hope that LEGO one day may come out with something like that and I think if medieval village take 1601 pieces; a realistic castle might take easily 100 times as many pieces to make, just check those elaborate MOCs. As educational as LEGO maybe...I think whether it follow realism or not isn't too important. But I won't mind a Mongolian theme to make my medieval experience more complete.
  16. The review is cool - the way the Trolls building the ship was nice. This set was often on my thoughts - since the castle sets I can get in Singapore is quite limited at the moment. And a jacked up price puts me further off. The ship looks bare - compared to something like the pirates ship, it is quite lacking in details - though no one expect the trolls to pay much attention to the details anyway. It reminded me of the Viking ship a little. The dragon though is a big plus
  17. Interesting topic I am new here, but certainly not new to LEGO. Today was cleaning some of the old remnant bricks I had - after washing twice, they still had some permanent marks there. Could even see there are like two era - one is very badly damaged; the other was still looking OK, but not spared from some of the lesser scars. I was wondering how differently I handled LEGO when I was young and now - certainly I don't damage the bricks anymore. The batch of old bricks came from the days where I was before 12; the badly damaged ones probably was from the age 7 or 8. As a kid, play is quite without limits - sometimes wanton destruction to them is actually quite fun. A lot of things don't come to mind; parents gave me them and I will play. Only till the time I started realize my next new set may take a year or more to come; I started taking care of them. Unfortunately playing still cause damage to the bricks, no matter how little. Now still playing; but being more careful and also lesser time to build and dismantle due to other committment. It is still a lot of fun; like the way I see dwarves should actually be allies of the trolls - different from humans. A world you dictate the time, the story and just about every details of your imagination springs to life. The only thing less was the carnage; I am no longer breaking all the swords, plates and shields and causing irreversible damage to the bricks. Escaping into a world no one in the reality would acknowledge to be in existence; a good way to relax from the hectic life. I am a kid at heart I guess.
