  1. Very nice review, thank you! Shame the hat isn't removable, that seems like an odd move, and I really liked the look of it. Still, at least it still looks well-sculpted, I mean it doesn't look surgically attached at all. All pieces being printed is also a surprise, though I suppose the splash parts of RC are too complicated for stickers. This is one of the sets I hope to get, so thanks again for the blowout!
  2. Sweet! Open 'em! Thanks also for the prices in euro, legomilk, since that's what I use. 'Bout what I expected, except in Buzz's case, which is about €7 more than I'd been hoping
  3. Thanks, guys. I'll build the rest of the set first to make sure there's nothing else missing. There definitely must have been a second bag for the mech, but I don't think I'm missing any truly unique parts (other than minifig elements) so it's unlikely that Lego wouldn't have any left. It'll be a pain, itemizing what's missing when it's clear that it's all in one bag, but that's a comprehensive enough system they have. I can't bring it back to the shop because it was the only one they had. I'm delighted to have found it at all, Exo+Force being my favourite line.
  4. Does anybodz have this set? I seem to be missing a bag from it; is there supposed to be two #1s? I'm trying to build the white robot but half the parts are missing. No Ryu head or hair, for a start. Who would I contact about this? Cheers for any help!
  5. Jedi Starfighter? The official Starfighter set? I had no idea the prizes were that big, I thought the most they'd be would be from the really small sets (like the city ones with a vehicle and a minifig), ranging down to, say, a keyring.
  6. Could that link be put somewhere obvious? Or is it already somewhere obvious that isn't obvious enough for my type of brain? 'Cuz it's a pain, having to dig through this thread to find a link. 'Course, I have the calender bookmarked, but in principle, it's a pain. Congrats to round 2! I loved that fantastically random model iminifig submitted, that badly deserved to win something!
  7. Yep. Never mentioned it, but thanks, CopMike. Like I said, I really enjoyed the entries, and even if I'm not among them, I'm looking forward to seeing who wins every day. Sounds like loadsa fun.
  8. Those are last year's winners though, right? We don't know who'll be winning this year yet? Do forgive a weary old man his confusion....
  9. I have to say, I really enjoyed seeing the stuff people came up with. I loved following the thread. Raffle or no raffle, I'm sorry it's closed.... The one I posted (page seven or eight or so) was not only the first MOC I've posted here, it was my first MOC, period (not counting some Exo-Force set mashups). I'm more of a set-buyer-and-bricker-sorter-outer with very little time to actually build at the moment. 'Twas fun, and more importantly, it vindicated my brick sorting system! Everything I needed was exactly where I knew it should be!
  10. Speaking of Korean music, I have this strange soft spot for Arirang. It's just one of those songs I heard at some point and have never been able to forget. Me, though, I'm going through a bit of a Red Hot Chili Peppers phase right now. It'll probably pass.
  11. Okay, I've pulled this together in the last hour or so. Apologies for the crappy camerawork, it's my first attempt to post a MOC here. Breakdown = Opportunity
  12. Power Miners is my favourite current line, and this is easily one of the best sets of the lot. There's a huge lot going on, it's a lovely, chunky, swooshable (in subterranean tunnel terms) build, and the price point is great for the contents.
  13. True, I can't think of a single other movie scene that would make a nice set. Maybe the elevator battle between Buzz and Zurg, but that was basically just a flat grey box. Possibly even the "flying" scene from the first movie, where Buzz convinces the other toys that he can fly; it'd have some track and blocks and things but I dunno what else.
  14. I did some rummaging yesterday (my only real shopping day) and didn't find much. The UPIM store (I may be misspelling that) in the Termini station is one of a chain of general clothes/homeware stores and had some of the larger sets and a couple of Bionicles. They're having a sale right now so I picked up the huge Power Miners drilll rig for a tenner less than at home, but normal price was about a tenner more. Not a great range, and it was big sets only. The only actual shopping mall I found was out at the Cinecitta Metro stop. There was a small toy shop there too, not a huge range but it was the fantastic pokey kind of place that might have an old set jammed in the back somewhere if you look hard. They had a Jack Stone set; first time I've ever actually seen one. Also the Death Star, Eiffel Tower, the Exo-Force construction yard and a few other cool ginormous sets. They also had Vader's TIE Fighter for €48.99 and the triple set with Vader's TIE and two battlepacks for €49.99 I picked up an Exo-Force 'mech I didn't already own and a Space Police Gold Heist set because for some reason, I can't get Space Police at home. So, no fantastic finds but there's bound to be more to the city than what I saw.
  15. I have an idea for a MOC. I'll try and post it before the deadline, but I'm traveling at the moment and am separated from my bricks. I should be home tomorrow evening. Scraping it pretty tight...
  16. I think a certain amount of leeway in that specialized-parts policy is to be expected in licensed sets, and particularly in the minifigs. I doubt that the interview response covered those. I'd hate to see a Spongebob Squarepants minifig constructed from shelf elements, for example, or a brickbuilt head on the Build-A-Buzz. No problems with the custom minifig heads, and I absolutely adore the Toy Story-specific threaded-rim hats. That said, I'm not a fan of Woody's longer limbs. I'd have preferred if Woody and Jessie were to the regular scale. Woody's gonna look strange towering above my other Legomen. But within the license, I do think Woody looks good taller than Buzz and Pete, and Buzz would've looked plain daft with kiddie legs. It does raise the issue of just how future licensed minifigs will be modified to match the character. Could we get, for example, a "fat" Patrick (Spongebob)? At what point does it stop really being a Legoman?
  17. I'm here until Tuesday and I'm wondering if there's anywhere I can go to feed my guilty secret back in my hotel room.... I did a search; there is an old thread from about a year and a half ago with no answers, and I wasn't sure if I should necro it or start a new one. And, of course, the Store Locator on Lego.com only has diplomatic relations with five countries, the rest of the globe must be a nuclear wasteland. Any help'd be great!
  18. That's what I worried about when I saw it has a motor. How much space it takes up in the set, and how much it adds to the price. Looks like bad news in both cases, but still a nice little set.
  19. Well, since the theme has moved onto lava, maybe not every set is going to have crystals. Combustix mightn't have any, so they didn't make any.
  20. This. Is. WIN! Love it! Nice work, and a great demonstration.
  21. Heh, I WAS wondering about the back of the ring. Nice to see it has a stud. Also nice to see another sticker hater.... Hmm, I suppose this contains pretty much what I'd expected, though the soft rubber is a pain. Hope they don't start making all their pointy bits out of that stuff.
  22. Maybe it's not perfect, but it's hands-down better than "Constraction Figure...." These are the two sets I'm prioritizing so it's great to get such a good look at them. I really like the construction of the lime parts on Buzz's breastplate, though the limbs are still a letdown. I already knew he had no elbows, but his legs look pretty rigid too. Also, that head will forever freak me out. I suppose I could replace the mermaid on the pirate ship with it, see how that works out....
  23. Depends on the tournament and, of course, if you're even playing in one. I really do like the swamp box: It's got a perfect mix of stark function and decorative bits. The black one's also very cool, but like Jeffd984, I'd be a little paranoid about using it....
  24. I was eight when it came down, and didn't really get the fuss. However, now I'm a bit of a history buff, and I blame my old history teacher in the mid-nineties for that. I remember once during a class (it may have been about Germany or it may not have been; this guy was seriously energetic), the subject of the Wall came up, he mentioned he'd gone over to Berlin when the Wall was pulled down. Then he stuck his hand into his desk drawer and held up a little zip-lock bag with a small chunk of concrete in it: "Got me a piece of the Wall right here." He was one of those "awesome" teachers. It's all over the news and the papers here, too. Sounds like fun! I also love that Merkel photo, though really, any time I see that Doctor minifig it cracks me up.
  25. Right now, I have the Manic Street Preachers on. Thez'd be my favourite band on the planet, despite my other tastes in questionable continental stuff as described on pages previous. I just hope that you can forgive us, (der, ner-ner-nerrr) but Everything Must Go.
