  1. That's a really nice rendition of one of my favourite German diesels. It's very hard to do the nose with all those subtle curves but it's easily recognisable. Well done.
  2. The instructions have been changed. I've downloaded the file again and this time I've the instructions with the 1x1 brick (and two steps 4). I'm not sure about the round plate but the axle in step 5 should go through the 1x1 brick, preventing the gear in the middle to come off its axle.
  3. That's odd, this picture is from the pdf I've downloaded... That's Killaloe, co Clare, Ireland. I didn't know there's a Killaloe in Ontario. That'll be he ;-)
  4. Why call it a shunter? I thought shunters were engines that work shunting yards or do short trips. In Europe this type of engine is often used to pull freight trains over long distances. Is this one slightly longer than the green/white one?
  5. I'm lost. Which 1x1 brick and which golden stud?
  6. ...and that's before you take different materials into consideration... If you do test runs on paper to match the colour, chances are it's going to look different again when you use the actual sticker.
  7. Two problems with transparent stickers: The printed colours are slightly translucent, making it hard to use them on dark colours. Laser and inkjet printers don't have white ink...
  8. Eurobricks invasion???
  9. Can't find a link now but I remember there was someone who sold sheets of train stickers on eBay. They were screen-printed; white on clear, and they were reprints of various stickers from the 80's. No idea what happened to him. Printing stickers on a white base can be done with a colour laser printer. Printing on clear is much harder...
  10. It's an interesting looking ugly duckling. You can easily enter it for the Ugly train contest over on Flickr. I agree with Aawsum though, one of the stand-out features of the original is the all-around windows which you haven't captured. So thumbs up for looks, thumbs down for likeness.
  11. If they're grey they're from the 12V era, but how on earth can you tell from that photo that it's the inside and not the outside?
  12. Thanks Capt'n ;-)
  13. There's five pages here of people telling you whether or not it's worth it...
  14. Nice engine. I like the colour scheme; the diagonals are a nice touch and the yellow steps a nice accent. I did a similar thing on my Baldwin:
  15. Pretty good for a first attempt. Instantly recognised the Hobby train front ;-)
  16. Dare I say you could try and come up with your own design? I think it's know as a 'MOC' around here...
  17. Let's assume they do after 40 years of selling trains. ;-)
  18. Quick look at the pictures/instructions: The box says the whole train is 69cm long. Engine is 32 studs long, tender is 14, so that's about 37cm. Add buffers and a gap between the two and you're just over 40cm for the combination, leaving just over 25cm for the passenger car.
  19. It's a nice idea but impossible to get to work. If you do it like in the real world you still need metal track. It'll be difficult and possibly expensive to make the overhead wires. Using the double overhead wires would make it even more difficult to make; you'd need something like the overhead wires for trolley buses. Switches will be a nightmare. It would be an interesting exercise but I can't see it working reliably for displays and I can't see it being cost-effective.
  20. Let's hope that this one will actually look like a steam train now that they have the big drivers...
  21. That would make perfect sense: it's wide enough for a train and a truck, so the crane can lift a container from one to the other... Just to remove any doubt, here's a proper picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/45850206@N06/...57622932020553/ So the red train is not a monorail and is not elevated. Wonder why it says 'New flexible track' on the box as it looks like just an oval...
  22. Some people never give up... 9V is dead. Get over it. PF on batteries is the future.
  23. Nice set of cars! Red or blue for the next one?
  24. The axles come in packs of two called "Prepack With 2 Asle" and they're available in the US. I've got most of my train wheels through Bricklink but I've also ordered some from S@H. I don't have a layout so can't answer that question ;-)
  25. Like I said on Flickr: absolutely brilliant!
