    MOC: White car

Really nice work. You've used offsetting really effectively on this which is something a lot of people tend to miss. The only change I'd like to see made is the use of more chrome but that's a personal addiction ;) Tim
  2. Like suggested above I've always used and 1xN technic plates (I recommend using 1x6 or 1x8 if possible as 1x4 has too little attachment for lighter trains). I've also used studless technic before but found it was more of a pain than a benefit. Another way is to make a 4-wide base and use brackets to hold 2 x plates + a tile on the lower levels. You can then sit a 7-wide shell on top of that which will be pretty much the same size. This will be stronger and lighter but needs a bit of time to get used to and only works for certain prototypes. Tim
  3. Just a little open wagon I whipped up. Nothing super-special but most of it is upside-down to save me buying tiles :D Tim
  4. You are right about the wheels. They are a bit too small. But I'm unaware of any that fit the look and size so this is my best compromise so far. Remember that these old-style wheels are the same diameter as most wheels from modern town and IJ sets. Tim
  5. Thanks guys. I like building these 1930s vehicles. It's a very difficult era to build well and makes my life a bit hard again which is nice. The Indiana Jones sets are really nice but don't have the authenticity or scaling that I like. But they do provide good pieces :) Tim
  6. Some more 1930s stuff. This time a bus based on a late 30s Leyland Tiger. Was a lot harder than the truck. I spray-painted some parts in a craft 'chrome'. I really like the result but if you're a purist just pretend they're light bley.
  7. Hi k100m, I blogged you but I couldn't find a Roman letter version of your name. Could you tell me your real name? Tim
  8. Really nice truck. Matches the building well. Although USSR engine in US firestation? ;) Tim
  9. Thanks guys. I'll probably do some similar cars. As for the colour I have a goal of using a different colour for each model in my Ol' Brittania set and I'm slowly running out. Dark red is still free but I'm saving it. Tim
  10. Hi all, I built myself a 1930s style English lorry (truck to the rest of the world). I am slowly constructing a piece of 1930s England. Tim
  11. Thanks guys. I think the sand blue does make a nice weathered blue. It's a shame there's not an equivalent for red but yellow could be weathered to tan and light yellow. Tim
  12. Thanks everyone. The presentation is just an amusing bit of fun. I never really thought too much about it :) The box is a bit simpler than it looks in that the textures are fairly standard but it was still quite a bit of work. Was fun though. Already did :)
  13. I've never actually built the train. That's just computer graphics. Making it look nice for the crowd :) Tim
  14. More pics here I'm not really sure of your questions. The engine and each carriage has instructions. It is as simple as that. Tim
  15. Looks like a long lost crossover with the Western line. Cool. I'm a big fan of doing 'set' style models. Tim
  16. The Brickster's latest post reminded me that people here might be interested in a project I did last Christmas. It's a Western style train with different carriages and instructions for all sections. It was a kind of Christmas present to trainheads. You can also change the colours :) Anyway, hope you like it. Tim
  17. I'm running a weathering challenge over at the Flickr trains group and thought I'd share my own 'entry' here. It's set 4536 after 18 years of hard running.
  18. No post that I know of. They would have their own warehouses I imagine. Thanks. In my model those are cranes for raising and lowering goods. I think that's what they are on the real thing but the ones I used to pass were pretty run-down. To be honest I don't really know how these things worked exactly but I suspect they only occassionally loaded stuff onto trains. Tim
  19. That may help. Discussion includes some comments relevant to trains. Tim
  20. Hi, I'm Tim Gould (aka Gambort) and I've built and designed (in CAD) quite a few trains. You can see them at my Brickshelf trains folder and my flickr trains set. My current project is fleshing out my Ol' Brittania train set to make it feel like a proper toy train. I've also put various instructions up for trains. Most recently a Western train as a Christmas present. Tim
  21. You think wrong. They will not make the track again [1]. Tim [1] OK so if you made them a ridiculously good offer they might but then they would be much, much too expensive.
  22. Hmmm... I'm not sure I really want that sort of official hat. The information was actually gained before I was an Ambassador and I won't go into the details but it is very trustworthy. Tim
  23. I have a little inside insight into this and I can categorically (or at least very close to) state that this will never happen. Ever. If you want to continue with powered track then stock up on what you can while you still can. PFS is all you will be able to buy. Tim
  24. ENTERED Hi all, I spotted this contest and decided to enter category 3 with my latest work. It's a small warehouse like you see on the Manchester to Bolton line in Northern England. I used to pass this sort of thing all the time (although they were rotting and boarded up) and thought they were great little buildings. And since I'm just signing into Eurobricks hello to everyone. I'm Tim Gould and you may know me from such blogs and The Brothers Brick. Tim PS. I assume that 640x480 is a maximum size but if it is the only size allowed could a moderator let me know and I'll resubmit.
