  1. No prohibition in the UK :) Loosely based on a Morris Bullnose van. Tim
  2. I'm not sure if this is old news yet (28 pages is too much to read in full) but according to the LEGO rep I ran into today these will be released in Australia in August (July at Mr Toys) and will cost $230 for the passenger and $300 for the freight. Tim
  3. I'm busy trying to create a pizza layout (OK not quite a pizza but a small oval). Only a single layer of track with height used for the diorama. I feel that it offers a level of detail that is lacking in larger layouts. For me I'd much rather have a tiny layout done well than a large layout with sparse details, sets for filler and too many flat baseplates. Tim
  4. Really, really nice engine. The face is extremely well done. As others have said the lamp is a little big but there is an easy solution. Turn part 2444 upside down and stick a 1x1 clear round plate on top. Will be perfect. Tim
  5. I'll follow Sava in tooting my own horn and mention that I've got instructions up for a complete Western style train It's all fairly lightly detailed and you could strip it back even further or just use it as some basic inspiration. I tried to keep it all fairly simple. It was even slightly inspired by your work. I liked the elegant simplicity of your Western themed work and tried to imitate it a little. Tim
  6. Thanks people. I disagree that it doesn't look old enpough although agree somewhat about the handlebars. They should be a teensy bit longer at the wrist end of the hand but I'm not a big fan of the flex on wrist look. Tim
  7. Hi all, My last two 30s vehicles seemed to be quite popular here so I thought I'd share the latest one. Tim
  8. Thanks Brian, I agree about the extra support brackets but it would have made the build quite a bit more complicated so I felt it was easier to leave them off. I also originally planned the trackside accessories and then totally forgot them... bummer. Maybe a NY present. Probably won't have time before then :( Tim
  9. I believe it does. Certainly that was part of the plan from the very earliest day of it. Tim
  10. Just click up a couple of time on Brickshelf. Or follow the link trail in the first post in this thread. Or get them from RAILBRICKS ;) Tim
  11. That isn't quite true but the basic idea is right. Decisions had to be made about continuing to manufacture metal tracks given an increase in cose. The modern track is, in fact, about one quarter of the price of what metal track would have been had it been continued. Being condescending and wrong at the same time isn't a good look. It is clear to anyone who bothers to look that the track moulds are quite different. The metal goes over a skinnier rail, the joins at the end are fiddly and it is generally different in various ways. It is also obvious that it is much more expensive to make. Tim PS. Page 3 of this thread has many pleasing comments. Thanks to all the people that can see that creativity is alive and well in PFS trains and that dealing with the change is the best way forward.
  12. And now for the station :)
  13. Not as community minded as you writing this twice ;) It's fun to take a step back and go for more of a set-like style. Christmas is just an excuse. Tim
  14. Thanks. Just to make it clear that cactus design is very, very old. I'm not sure where I first saw it but Tony Sava used it quite recently. I can make no claims to its invention. Tim
  15. Second part is up. The platform and some accessories. Tim
  16. The cactus is sand green which is a great colour for a cactus but not so great in the instructions for some reason. It's easily built in green. Tim
  17. Hi all, Last year I worked on a Western Train along with instructions (and on EB). It was a project as a Christmas gift to the LEGO train community. This year my plan is to add accessories to the train so that a bit more of a train set can be created. I make these models on the fly so I don't know how many or what I will create but I've started with some trees. Please feel free to make suggestions but remember I'm not your beech. I'll keep the links from here to a minimum as they have a habit of changing but follow flickr to get the instructions. Tim PS. To the moderators: these are accessories for trains and refer to a project for train builders but might be better off in another forum. Please move it if you feel I've put it in the right place.
  18. Not quite right but close. The instructions were added before release but were printed too late to be added to the boxes. So they were sent separately. Tim
  19. If you can read ldraw files I can probably dig up my own models (6 and 22) and maybe some others. I'm happy to send my own but you'd need to get permission from the other builders before I'd send them. Tim PS. Although there's a chance they may not have been backed up properly... don't ask
  20. Really lovely work on this. Are they seven or eight wide? I'm sure you found the challenge in making dark green cars fun. I found an OK way to present a full rake was to take a photo of each car and photoshop them together like this. Tim
  21. Thanks all. I did use LPub to make the instructions as you will see if you follow the instructions link. Cheers, Tim
  22. Raphy, there is a reason I am blocking you and it's because I don't want to hear stuff like this. It is annoying and tedious. I do know and can use correct grammar. I did rather well at English and have continued my studies quite a bit further than you have or are likely to. I have, however, very rarely seen it used correctly when people ask for instructions and as such have used the common form rather than the correct form. I hope that explains a couple of things. Thanks for the compliment. Tim
  23. Batman looked like this just 10 years later ;) I suspect that the version without the door handles (the one in the instructions) should fit a minifig but I won't swear to it. The handles mean I have to fill out the insides too much. As for the steel... my choice was based as much on reducing part depletion as anything else. I had more light bley jumpers free :D Tim
  24. Hi all, I made this little car and it had a design that made instructions easy so I made some of them too. Cheers, Tim
  25. Really nice job. I've done this one before and it's hard to get it all looking right. To do so well on a first train MOC is fantstic. Tim PS. Pretty sure this one is a sister.
