the older piece has been around for about 25 years and its a classic. its much better in design as it is much more complicated and it is the ideal piece to build sturdy castles. the new piece is nothing but a square wall with a window in the middle and i dont think that castles are going to look better with it. that is why its a step back (in my book) the old piece will be missed

maybe they are made out of cheap plastic just to show in the fair..

the base looks very promising cant wait to see the interior!

on a closer look these sets look like a step back for the castle line.. the classic castle walls seem to be gone and they have been replaced by the simple square once that were used in the new pirate like fort. the big castle itself lacks in design and originality and as far as the smaller sets go there isnt much there.. im only happy about the jester and the green wizard. hope that the big castle is better than it looks here cause i really had my eye on it.. (i miss the fantasy castle era already)

i was checking lego shop@home and i cant find the green grocer anywhere!! is this a mistake of the site or is this set gone for good?

thanx for this great review zorba! i SO want this set now even though i dont have the farm and it might look a bit off standing alone.. its a good thing that Greece gets sets in time but something has to be done about the prices here!

i love the limo but i would rather it was alone in the set. the heli is pretty nice but i am not in love with it! maybe i can build the limo from the parts i have already im so happy its 4 wide!! thanx for the review!!

so its gonna cost me that much here in Greece?? what terrible pricing! i hope one day we can be on shop at home to maybe have better prices in what store did you find the new set?

the pig farm looks a lot better than it did at first but i dont know if its worth it if you dont have the big farm set as this is more of an ad on rather than a stand alone set.. and as we can get pigs with the impulse set the pig farm seems a lot less interesting. (would be great to have an ad on to the medieval market with pigs!)

must have been this one!and i loved it! i still have it but a few pieces are missing. the second was this one or was it the other way around?? i cant remember! but i had great fun with both of them!

oh come on September is too far away! at least bring them to us for summer! my birthday is in August and i am dreaming about the caste already! i find the castle to be the best set of them all in design the "evil" smallest castle reminds me of something Japanese or Chinese or smth and i dont really like that dark green, the tower with the evil catapult looks so empty and boring the impulse sets look very nice! the color on the boxes have a peaceful look and nothing screams war (although there apparently is a conflict ) i really dont get why the Castle line ended and we went from the fairytale back to "reality" there was so much more TLG could have done with that line and when i think of all the new and amazing minifigures and creatures it makes me feel sad. we were all so hoping to get more dwarfs as they were only in a couple of sets and we wanted to see elves and more evil characters! i am not so much amazed by this new line as i was when i first saw the Castle line first picture.. maybe they will turn out better than they look. (and the dwarfs might return!..one can only dream) and let me point out that we cant clearly see a female character in the line so far...i miss the queen the princess and the village girls :(

the best set of the atlantis series so far smooth and great design but SO expensive! if it costs 65 euro where you live then it will be around 85 in Greece and that is not worth it.. but i so want to get this one so i will try! thnx for the review!!

it would be really sad if lego stops the fantasy theme here. there would be so much more they could do with it.. so no more dwarfs and orcs? :(

can Woddy bend his legs like any other minifigure? can you take of his legs torso and head?

i just got it today! its the first time i see an advent calendar in Greece so i grabbed it without thinking! paid 25 euro for it although it is 20 euro for the rest of Europe (if you check lego shop@home) i really wanted the mermaid minifig and this is the best way to get it! havent opened it yet and im not sure if im gonna save it for December or open it up right now.. hmm...

thanx legomilk for the great news!! that house is simply amazing!! this looks like classic town updated! sooo nice such great detail!! cant wait for it. I have all the creator houses besides the latest one which i didnt like so much but this looks so unique!

well actually if you check the creator, city, and the exclusive sets sections you will find that we like (most of) them! its not like we hate EVERY set of EVERY theme. i my self have a few mars mission and a few exo force sets (and ofcourse the new castle line) but we DO have a right to say that these sets are too violent and too "non" lego-ish i dont know how old you are but i am 29 and when i was 10 the city theme had more to offer than police and the other themes werent so violent with guns and machine-guns and giant bionicle monsters. i know that themes like this one keep the company going and so i have made my peace with most of them The fact that power miners or agents might sell well dosent make me like them more. it dosent go like that.. So i do have a right to give my perspective and opinion on any new theme since i am a member of this forum. Dont you have a theme that you dont like? do you LOVE every lego set or line?? and so that i keep you updated the best selling set in the lego company is usually the fire or police department. You can find that mentioned in lego's annual report. and thank you for remembering our opinions all these years! (and by the way yes this is a line that i find good enough for what lego is doing these days and i look forward to buying a few of these sets!)

even though im not a big fun of themes like this one (power miners, exo force mars mission, aqua riders, which one im i forgetting?) i have to say this is the best designed of them all!! especially better than power miners in design of both the vehicles and the minifigers. it reminds me of how yell designed and smooth was the second wave of mars mission. just shows that lego can do great work in play themes as well!! and i have to say that im gonna want to buy a few of these!!

i only have three and they are all from the new castle sets..

so i send an email to lego and asked them if they plan to continue the castle line and if they plan to discontinue the existing sets. this is the answer i got. "We never abandon our original ideas and the design team in Denmark comes back to the themes which are popular. We will stop producing the King's Castle Siege set in 12.2009, which we launched in 2007. However, it doesn't mean it won't be available- it actually depends on retailer's stock. If you enquire that castle sets are sold really fast in your area, you should probably start stocking on them. Despite this, don't worry you will never be able to buy castle sets, because we launch new ones, slightly upgraded and different, so that our customerrs never get bored! We can't give you the information about future sets before their release, but please check our website for any new information. "
