  1. You never know - the city could be flooded one day, might be useful to have a swamp boat then. :-D Imagination ON! (Oh god, now I'm starting...)
  2. Hello, and welcome to Eurobricks, Beastboy_Fan. We should get an admin to group you right as well - the ladies are few and far between here, so they have their own rank which makes them stand out. That way nobody will mistake you for a guy.
  3. Hard to say. Caf
  4. I'm also a bit worried about having them timed so close to each other, from an AFOL/ALE's perspective at least. I know I have no chance of going to Denmark in that time period, though. Term papers, deadlines and whatnot will make sure of that. I will go to the norwegian one, though.
  5. Me neither. At first I thought it was a glich, since the look isn't very complete, and marks the control links in white (i.e. "My controls" "log out", "my assistant" etc). If this is a halloween skin, I hope it's just a preliminary one, since it's not very good. :-P
  6. I wouldn't consider the transmission a surprise, since it's the only way to use one motor to power multiple functions. It's even mentioned on the box that you "shift" to control the arm's movements. But I'm still hoping for a big, fancy technic machine with the functions of previous "halo" models.
  7. BIG PICTURE!!! :-D Finally (not that we've been waiting very long), we can spot all the small details.
  8. Sweet!!! I can't see one bit wrong with that set. The petrol-station is awesome, the cinema is awesome, the town-hall is awesome, the cars and acessories are awesome. And a nice touch that Kjeld himself is one the box too. Sweet touch with the reference on the corner of the box. I am so getting minimum one of this set. edit: Censorship's recommended words didn't have the same punch as the intended word. :D Ah, never mind. Athos: Take a good look at the box, it clearly states that it's Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen that's portrayed on the box.
  9. Ditto. I too prefer the new impulse-sets. Not only because they are sets focused around the minifig itself, but even comes with a bit of acessory, to increase play value. The old set pictured above is just "two figures with nothing", as most kids would see. There's no extra punch in it, and while it may have worked then, not a chance it would work today.
  10. Not if they want to save money, then they'll probably use Megablocks or some cheap, poisinous, chinese knock-off bricks, and we can have our LEGO for ourselves.
  11. Poets of the Fall. Both albums in a single playlist, with shuffle-mode on. I can, will and have listened to them several hours straight - their tracks are so varied it's impossible to get bored.
  12. PM the admins, they will know for sure if, and if so, where to put one up.

    City 2008

It is likely that it uses the same wing-piece as the other aircraft, which would be this piece; 56 studs wide. If you intend to make the hangar big enough for 7893, make room for an 18 stud wider wingspan, because that particular set has extensions on its wings.
  14. That's it!? Dude, I've kept every catalog since '92, and they are all in nearly mint condition - they still smell new. Pluss I've got two in rags, one from '91 and one from '89. For storing, and I do this to building instructions as well, pack them in plastic folders, which are then archived. Eliminates the need to punch holes in the instructions, too.
  15. SPOILER A HEAD! REVEALS SECRET CHARACTER (which might not be a big surprise)! Gameplay video I'm considering getting me a Nintendo Wii, maybe I should pick up this game if I do get one? It looks fun.
  16. These two sets were available in scandinavian Donald Duck magazines some time ago. They were distributed along with the magazine in the polybag only, which would explain the printed bag inside the boxes. FYI; Donald Duck is known by his american name in Norway, but is known as Anders And in Denmark and Kalle Anka in Sweden. Just in case anyone's searching for the thread, if there is one.
  17. I get that one a lot. "Do you want me to wrap it in for you?" "No thanks, I'll take it just as it is". |-/ BTW; I'm born 5. Jan '86. You do the maths, and if you get anything but 21, you're wrong*. *Statement not valid after January 5th 2008.
  18. I knew I saw these somewhere else! I like the attention to detail you have in them, but what I really like is that there is life in them, i.e. like in vignettes, there is something happening, but it's frozen in time. I love that.
  19. It is that one, yes. Obviously without the road pattern. Makes a neat bridge, if I might add. The harbour is composed of two such bases, plus two 16x8 tiles, plus four studs for the small booth and storage area. So the harbour is 84 studs long and 22 studs wide, including the ramp.
  20. That is a truly awesome MOC. All those functions/i] crammed into what basically is a mini-fig scale crash truck. I've been experimenting with suspension design in minifig vehicles myself, and know how hard it can be to get something functional without it taking up to much space. The most similar and/or related MOC using water I can remember, was a fountain - which had its hydrapneumatics motorised, so it would shoot some beams by itself. The water in that MOC went through a loop of sorts, so it didn't need refills to often. It was displayed and used in a town layout on a show, if I remember correctly. It probably is out there on brickshelf, somewhere.
  21. Right, everybody knows the 8448, right? It's soon a decade old, and because of that also engineered for the motor available at that time - those who own it know that it has a small bay underneath for the motor, just slide it in a secure it, and all is done. Curiousity struck, when I noticed how small the new motors are. I initially only had the Ferris Wheel, and because of that only had the small motor, but it fit like a glove. Two extra pins, remove the driving gear (for the old motor) and hook it up. The chassis needs no modification, to my great surprise, there's ample space inside and the motor does not intrude on overall design, there's still space for the engine, so the result is that the car ends up looking like it did a decade ago. Well, knowing that this new motor system has a remote-control module, I got myself 4958, and with minor modification, could fit in the XL Motor as well, with the small motor moving forwards, hooked up to the steering rack and now acting as the car's servo steering. Because of the image size, and me being a noob on the new camera, I'm just going to give you all a link that will take a lil' while to load. Edit: And when you're done staring: watch it in motion (31 megs, beware!) There are some teething problems - it chooses to jump gears when put in a high gear ratio or whenever there's some resistance, so in the clip I'm actually driving the car in reverse gear. I've been thinking of maybe replacing it with an automatic gearbox, just for ease of operation. So, what do you think?
  22. With the exception of the police seaplane, I like all of the 2008 City sets. And I'll be getting me two 7733s because of the first realistic fork-lift in a set, ever. I love the police station. This more than makes up for the disapointment that seaplane was.
  23. Alvin and the Chipmunks & the Chipettes - The Girls & Boys of Rock'n Roll. ...on YouTube
  24. The police truck is using the low-level train base as a hull. That's a big thumbs up from me, since I thought that piece had been retired. I also like the roof of the tractor, and the small building is nice too. I'll be getting the truck, but I'll also be redesigning it so it will look more like the other trucks, there's too much going on at the front of it. Knowing it's also a preliminary picture, I do hope TLC replaces the blue stickers with black ones (alternatively with green "Polizei" stickers, like they've done the last years), just so it will fit in with the older stuff. Vader: Where did you get these pictures? Or did you force-choke someone to hand them over to you? (And do you have any more. More specifically, the new police-station?)
