Heroica RPG - The Henrys - 2nd Awards Celebration
Duvors replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
Well, I really should know better than to let Lind write for me by now. But anyway, I feel that this was a magnificent display, the number of people working together, the videos, this is far better than the first one, not that I'm not sad about not being here last time. Anyways congrats to everyone who did speeches, and a round of applause for Nerwen and Karie for their magnificent work here, I only wish I knew the tune of that song. I also have to compliment WBD on the videos, especially the Baltarok film trailer (seriously cannot wait for that to come out). And thank you Eric for that nice compliment of yours on my and Lind's speech (wow, that felt wrong). Now I wish I could stay for the caviar (imported from northern Dastan by the producers at great expense) and the magnificent selection of wines they have here, but sadly I must now return to the slightly-less-than-real world to forget all about this ever happening and be surprised by the sudden discovery of a small golden man in my inventory. Bye!- 33 replies

Heroica RPG- Quest #137: Where the Dead Go to Live
Duvors replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
<Earth? Well that's not really surprising, after all I haven't had a bath in ages, or any sleep, or food, or changed my clothes...><Hmm... maybe the card has something to to with the missing vendy-machine-thing? We can look into it later anyhow.> he said as he pocketed the card. <Look, why don't you follow us around for a bit? That way if we run across your master well be able to hand you over at once.> -

<Don't be stupid, How could your master change his basic scent? Unless he had an unholy amount of garlic. And I think everybody would notice that>Throlar stooped and picked up the Tarot card, examining it throughly. <Tell me, what is your master's name?> -

Throlar looks at the dog in surprise. "Where the hell did he come from?"He looked at the dog for a bewildered minute before answering his question. <No I am not your master, and neither is he. Who are you?> -

"Well bugger." He stood still for a moment before finally giving an invisible shrug. "Ah well, it'll sort itself out, come on, to the Last Chance!" -

"Shit. We'd better tell him."Throlar called after the undead. "Sir, I think you should know that the portal we used to get into the city is in that house, it should close sometime about midnight tomorrow." He looked back at Althior. "There, that should deal with the problem, now come on, we have a quarry to stalk." he said, replacing his Elven Shield with his Shield of Invisibility. -

"We cleared out some rats from a little rundown house in the north of the city, I don't think anybody's taken up residence in the interval." -
I was talking about how the agreement not to set foot in Spesialia specifically excludes Fenaro.
-
Nice loophole there Sandy, was it intentional or did it just appear by accident?

"Nothing violent I assure you." Throlar said, speaking diplomatically, "I'm Throlar Wineghilm, walking public relations disaster. And this is Althior Emorith, amoral prophet-cum-necromancer. We're here looking for a dangerous woman named Amber Makepeace, brunette, pale, wears black and red, usually accompanied by a shadow wraith of some sort. Have you seen her?" -

(I'm so sorry about being gone for four days, I'll try not to let it happen again.) -
I'd have to disagree with you, Poisoned isn't very threatening for high leveled characters who have tons of health, but for low leveled characters it can be deadly, and it stacks too, meaning that an enemy who deals poison constantly can eventually have a hero taking 50+ damage a turn, so even the really, really high level people can be brought down fast. And in conjunction with normal damage it gets worse. Of corse this doesn't matter that much to people who have remedies and grand potions coming out of their ears but you will run out eventually and then you're gone. Curse is even more dangerous because is removes maximum health, even if you use a remedy instantly there's still that tiny bit of health missing that you cannot regain by any means. Again, this is less dangerous to high-level players than to noobs, but it's still confers a disadvantage to you for the entire rest of the battle even if you remedy it instantly. Weakened halves the amount of damage you do, this can slow down a battle massively if applied to enough party members, and if the enemy you're fighting has higher defense than half your power you might as well start making daisy chains. Remedies can, again, bring an end to this quickly, and I think that's why so many negative effects are underrated, you have a special that makes me poisoned, cursed, weakened, and fragile? Well screw you, 'cause I have this really cheep consumable that I bought in the marketplace that removes them all at once!

"Righto, come on." Throlar said before leading his companion to the back alley. -

"Well bully for you then. But I don't trust you by yourself enough for me to leave. So yeah." "Yep, we could do that, of corse that leaves us with some time to kill. Althior, do you want to go to a dark black alleyway to investigate some noises a rat told me about?" -
Unfinished? Does that mean that the quest was incomplete when you started it? Shame on you!

"Sorry miss, we'll be going now, or at least I will, I don't know about my friend." -
Okay, thanks for clarifying that.

Really? Then the first post needs some alteration because it says that a quest pitch to him should also include some examples of enemy statistics, if this isn't for the purpose of checking for balancing problems then why is it there?
-
You know Sandy, I think your problem is that, as the creator of the game, you don't need to run your ideas past anybody, whereas everyone else has to run their ideas past you. This means that you have nobody to offer any criticism on your quests. There's nothing with your storywriting, that's top notch stuff, but the statistics tend to have balancing problems.

I'm not certain that a mind controlling brain slug that came all the way from out of left field counts as a nudge.
