pueumatic 8043 excavator
Milan replied to Alasdair Ryan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I can offer my knowledge regarding this: She definitely stops building with LEGO. With her last model, iconic JCB Excavator built in 2003, she didn't even provide info about new projects and her LEGO building future. There are few marks in her mobile crane section that she had desire to build another new mobile crane, but nothing happened, so far. She build quite few models, these models are quite finished and, I could say almost perfect for their size and parts availability at the time. Her best two creations are, arguably, JCB JS220 Excavator and her DEMAG Mobile Crane, radio controlled models, using HiTechnic parts (PF wasn't introduced back than in 2002). She didn't lose contact with LEGO, however. She started an Bricklink store. After LEGO, she seems to turn on her another hobby, Music. She is a professional bass player, session musician, band leader, arranger, and musical director with over twenty years of experience. I wish her all the luck in her future music career, I would like I could say that I wish it for her LEGO hobby as well, but I am afraid she will never make return. I can see sometimes that she leaves kind comments on some YouTube LEGO creations, and I am always pleased to see her be near LEGO, at least sometimes. Too bad, as she is definitely my most inspiring and dedicated and persistent LEGO builder of all the time and one person that brought me back into the LEGO. She will always have my gratitude for that! -

8043 with pneumatics in the video really sucks. LAs are best for its size and functions. Pneumatics have other use, but not on this set. -
Tan 12 bevel gear that power the LAs would slip as soon as there are some torque involved. Change that. Put Battery Box at the back of the Loader, it will make room for LAs drive. I don't like your track drive either, your loader would move way to fast, and it will lack power, you need to make at least 1/10 reduction when using M motor to power the loader, especially the crawled one, which has much more friction on the surface, than wheeled one.

I think the same thing...XLs would be better choice. But we will wait for the video to see it in action. -

Incredible, as always! Chrome bricks are really important on your MOCs. They give them great touch. I like your rigs more, but this is a nice addition. -

Models for 2H of 2011
Milan replied to menad's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I wouldn't like to see both LAs and Pneumatic in one set, it is better and more realistic if the set has only one type of actuators. But, this LA-versus-Pneumatic discussion is better to leave for appropriate and already existing thread here on EB. -

WOW. I don't want any set, I just want those Unimog TIRES! I tried to make comparison between unimog's white lights...those are 2 studs in height, vertically looking, and front tire. I got value between 9 and 12 studs diameter. -

Unimog rules! I would also like that this set has no PF, even if I LOVE PF, but to have more parts, preferably quite few new ones! -
hook lift truck

I would suggest 24x43 wheels, they are perfect for 24studs wide truck, but they will fit in your 22studs wide truck, too. I use them in my wip crane. These 62.4 looks small, imo. Not steering, I was talking about the drive motors are struggling a bit, judging by the sound. Based on the picture of the real truck you provided, I think that another stud between back tires would be improvement! If you have problems with placing gears between axles, just use drivetrain concept form 8868. -
Impressive MOC! I like the table, the paint in a cups, the water tank with Cleo and Figaro playing with it! Pinocchio scene you made is really nice!

Nice, I would have prefer that it is built in studfull, but I like how you did it in studless. Speed is ok to me. Overall, pretty good MOC! -

Nice base of the cab! It looks like the tires are a little bit small for the 22-studs wide truck cabin... Maybe you should separate the two back axles a little bit. They look too close to each other. It sounds like your motor is struggling to power the truck, or is it just me? Good luck with your truck, I like the progress so far! -
I wont jump to buy them, they seem strong, maybe in next BL order, for now old 16t are working good for me. But I would like to have few (dozen) of them

(MOC) Liebherr LTM 1050
Milan replied to Milan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Found some older photos of new chassis, probably my best frame yet, regarding realistic scale, and the fact that there is not a single stud in length that empty. Everything is packed with modules. Tan pins are center point of 3 axles, above them is shock absorbers mounting points, vertical beams-and-bricks combo are actual axle support-holders. Those holders are connected to axle's turntables, which are taking off pressure from drive cross axle, so it can spin freely. Most front and back parts, with black pins are holding the outriggers modules, with 8 pins per outrigger. Empty section between first and second axle is drivetrain module, packed with gears and pulleys, drive will be via 2 or 4 red rubber belts. Above all that stand another layer of Technic bricks, so the chassis has total of 3 vertical layers of Technic bricks, which makes it very strong and prone to twist when supported on outriggers. Next will post picture of frame with axles, motors, drivetrain, CODE Pilot and outriggers. -

I forgot to wrote here that video is dark on purpose, I don't want to show it fully until the crane is completed. Final video will be in HD res. Ryan, no, but I have 3 same super-strong axles, made of two layers of beams, you have a picture few posts above. Maybe you should posta picture of in, so people can advice. On THIS truck I had the same problem, I have used 8466 suspension on it and it solved the issue with bending. -

Ok, next update. Outriggers are fully functional and installed into the chassis, well secured, both to the chassis and well braced vertically, and they work great. Quick info: They are fully RC, both extension, and pneumatics extend/retract. Outrigger box is just 4 studs wide, and they extend in length exactly like real LTM1050 (in scale terms) Here is a small video of outriggers in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nq_WPL_RKfQ&feature=feedu Next video will show the CODE Pilot unit installed and how it works (sounds) when the chassis is rolling, with all the acceleration and deceleration truck sounds, 3 different sounds regarding speed of the chassis! It sounds awesome!
