Dale: I think the couch foam could make a lot of sense here to try and soak up the bumps. The only other thing I might add is trying to find some temperature sensitive foam or one of the squishy footpads people use when they have to stand a lot at work. Then you could create a sandwich construction of various foam densities to absorb the bumps and vibrations. Can't wait to see you again! -Dave

Brilliant idea! As others have said, I might have preferred a rectangular table in the long run, but this is fantastic. The craftsmanship looks really well done too! A great addition to any living room. -Davey

Great work. These are wicked cute! The last picture reminds me of when I pull up next to a Hummer/Yukon/Navigator/etc in my MINI Cooper S. -Davey

Yes...yes we do.

Looking good Dennis! It's always nice to have some of your vehicles on the ToT-LUG layout. -Davey

Well done Dave! I think this captures the essence of the Vic Viper and will be a great addition to the fly-in at Brickworld. I'm really glad you were able to put something together. You'll be there in spirit even if you can't make it physically. -Davey

Great work! You MOC really captures the look of the Cessna 150/152 that is in that front yard. I also like your approach to the wing lift struts. I haven't seen that technique before. Is that tile just held in place by friction and the weight of the wing? -Davey

There are so many cool things planned for this year and it will be great to see old friends and meet new ones. Brickworld is the highlight of my LEGO year and I can't wait for June to be here. Now I just need to kick it into high gear and get all of my MOC's complete. -Davey

Thanks Scouts! Yeah...it's even a little bigger than your picture. I'm crossing my fingers that everything works out. -Davey

Happy Birthday guys! Best wishes for happiness, health, and lots of LEGO. -Davey

Not exactly. I was shopping for something a little...bigger. I'm looking at a Piper Tri-Pacer. -Davey

Wow! Now THAT is a Hogwarts Express. Very well done. I love the pin-striping work and the pistons are amazing. Have you tried running this for a long period of time to see if there is any binding once the axles and driving rods heat up? Great work! -Davey

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! I had a fantabulous birthday weekend. Collectible Minifigs on Friday night. Then Toy Story 3 and LEGO Farm (from Mom and Dad) on Saturday night. And...I got to go 'airplane shopping' with Stacy on Saturday morning. For those of you coming to Brickworld 2010, I look forward to seeing you all in a couple weeks. This is going to be the best BW yet!!! Again...thanks for the birthday wishes and thanks for the birthday cake Ricecracker! -Davey

I picked up two boxes at my local TRU yesterday and Stacy and I opened one box last night. It had the same distribution as White Fang's so it looks like the packaging must be the same all over the world. As far as quality goes, we were very impressed with the level of quality of the color and printing. These are definitely on par with anything that is coming out in sets right now. Happy hunting! -Davey

I scored my Collectible Minifigs tonight. TRU in LaCrosse, WI had them in the 'back room' as they said there wasn't enough room on the floor right now. Glad I got there when I did. We unwrapped a box tonight and the quality of the figs is great. On par with anything that is out in sets right now. -Davey

You might also try this as the center of your turnstile. Good luck! -Davey

I want to use a pressure injection molding machine
Davey replied to dakota_bones's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
You might also want to check out Protomold in Maple Plain, MN. They do short run prototype work and have reasonable tooling costs. Regardless, plan to spend a couple thousand dollars to get some parts. The biggest portion of the expense is in the tooling. The material and labor for molding is cheap in comparison. Here is a link to Protomold: http://www.protomold.com/ -Davey -
Here's a little sneak peak at our layout for Brickworld 2010 (you can click the picture for a larger view). It will be 12.5' x 18' and will be using primarily the 'Cafe Corner Building Standard'. We have also made a significant LifeLites purchase and will have most of our buildings lit for the 'World of Lights'. Enjoy! -Davey

Shackelton: Have you sent me your layout information? If you are registered you would have received an e-mail from the Train Coordination Team providing a bunch of train-related information. Make sure you read through that and get the information to the appropriate coordinators. Thanks and I look forward to meeting you at Brickworld 2010!!! Best Regards, Davey (Sterling) Brickworld 2010 Train Co-Coordinator

Really nice design here, especially the crane! This is definitely much more appealing than the officially released set. I'm guessing your crane may have used some pieces from the Launch'N'Load Seaport? This MOC has me thinking I might revamp my own seaport as I really like the way you have put yours together. Great work! -Davey

MOC: Power Functions High Sped Train with automatic doors
Davey replied to Esben Kolind's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Awesome work!!! I love the use of the RC and PF components and I think this really goes a long way to show what kind of innovative options those two systems bring to the Train community. I applaud you for embracing both systems and especially on a display layout! The working doors and lights just really add realism that makes this MOC fantastic. And the SNOT work to get the nose of the train to look right is spot on. Really nice work. Soon to be... -Davey -
Have you read "The Dirt" or "The Heroin Diaries"? Both good bios on The Crue. Rock'n'roll is all just hookers and blow. -Davey

Great work there Deathdog! Always nice to see a cool biplane MOC. I like the overall shape of the aircraft and the telescopes for wing struts is a nice touch. -Davey

Great review of a set that I wish I had been able to get as a child. I had the smaller Shell Service Station and always lusted after the 'big city' Metro Park Service Tower. I also loved the comparison between the older and newer LEGO vehicles. It's amazing how much of a difference 4-wide to 6-wide makes. I'll be staying with 4-wide on my layout and I am glad that LEGO is putting out some more 4-wide vehicles this year for us Classic Town fans. Again, great review and thanks for putting this together! -Davey

Fantastic work here! You have really managed to capture the look of Edward from the FMA series. I love the hair done with the sculpey, but the coat is absolutely stunning!!! Really nice work here. -Davey
