  1. This is just too cute! I love the way you did the pistons and driving rods! Have you run it much to see if the rods bind after awhile? I also like the boiler design. You've really captured the shape. Great work! -Dave ToT-LUG
  2. Congratulations! It's great to see you taking the initiative to go out and work to earn your keep. Getting a job is one of the most empowering events in a person's life. By working, you control your own destiny. I applaud you for doing this. -Dave ToT-LUG
  3. Now THAT is a big train. Great LDD work! I'm always impressed when people build these massive MOC's in LDD. That takes a lot of time and talent. I really like the interior work and the 10-wide really allows you to capture a lot of great detail. Excellent job and welcome to Eurobricks! -Dave ToT-LUG
  4. Stacy and I keep thinking of doing this and I think it makes a lot of sense. I think the only downside would be that you might get 'into a rut' with the pieces you decide to use. With our current sorting system and the number of elements in the LEGO palette, I very often find myself looking for one part and then finding something else only to exclaim 'WOW...I forgot about THIS part'. So, is sorting by usefulness a good idea. My answer is maybe. I may give it a try soon here as I need to revamp my storage solutions due to the explosive growth of our collection the past year or so. -Dave
  5. That is an awesome collection of buildings! I really like the varied color schemes that you used and the varied detail designs. My favorite has to the the hotel though. That one is just awesome! The blue with the black accents really 'pops'. I can't wait to see your pictures of the whole town put together! -Dave ToT-LUG

    Hi

Hey Crystal! Welcome to Eurobricks. It's great to see another FFOL (Female Fan of LEGO) cruising the Eurobricks forum. I'm sure my wife Stacy will stop by to say hi and introduce herself. Do you happen to have some links to pictures of your LEGO MOC's? I'm sure the Eurobricks community would love to check them out. Again, welcome to Eurobricks!!! -Dave ToT-LUG
  7. Hi guys. I'm thinking it would be a good idea to enroll in the Ivy League Eurobricks Reviewers Academy. I'd love to learn more about doing set reviews to help out Classic-Town.net with reviewing some of the Classic Town sets. Who do I send my ACT scores, GPA, extra-curricular activities lists, and application to? -Dave
  8. No problem Teddy. This MOC totally deserves it. You really did an amazing job here and this MOC is just full of intricate details and great part usage. Combine that with the eye catching overall look and you really are hitting on all cylinders here. Please keep up the great work as I love seeing the stellar MOC's you come up with. Have a great day! -Dave ToT-LUG
  9. Geez...how blasted do we look in this picture? I think Stacy is the only one who looks remotely sober. I'm still recovering from that week. I've realized I'm not as 'seasoned' at partying as I was in college. This was a lot of fun! I sincerely hope this will be an ongoing Brickworld tradition. It was nice to finally hang out with good friends and just build for the sake of building. I have to say that the results were actually pretty impressive. Now that I am back from Brickworld (and somewhat recovered) and have had some time to reflect, I will share my thoughts. Pillars of Awesomeness: Hanging out with a bunch of great AFOL friends. Meeting tons of new people who were all really cool! Getting to meet some of the TFOL's (Ricecracker, -Five-, George, etc.) who are brilliant builders and are future AFOL's. Seeing tons of amazing MOC's. I'm certainly going to have to step it up next year. Drunk Build Hanging with Hinckley & CopMike all week. Stacy and I miss you guys! Meeting Stash2Sixx BW SigFig Picture Scoring big at the LEGO store. Awesome PAB at the event. Meeting Kjeld & Jørgen. Presenting Kjeld, Jørgen, and Tormod with official 'ToT-LUG' containers. Things I Wish I'd Done: Take more pictures. Brought Plexi. Built more containers to trade. Swapped contact information with more people. Attended more sessions and panel discussions. All in all, Birckworld was great! Adam, Bryan, and the whole organizational team did a great job pulling everything together. I am confident that 2010 will be even better...make plans to attend now. -Dave ToT-LUG
  10. You are correct WhiteFang. Hinckley asked me this past weekend to come on board on ClassicTown.net and do some blogging and I am incredibly honored to have the chance to work with you guys. I'll probably post an 'introduction' sometime today so everyone knows what's going on. -Dave ToT-LUG
  11. Hey Chris! Welcome to Eurobricks. Your stuff at Brickworld was amazing. I love the concert scene and all of the amazing light work you did there. I must have spent a half-hour mesmerized by the lights and thumping beat during the World of Lights on Saturday night. -Dave ToT-LUG
  12. I saw today that this bag is now available on S@H for $29.99. Has anyone ordered/received one? If so, what are the dimensions? How is the quality? Thanks, Dave
  13. Stacy and I are coming in on the Tuesday before the event again next year. And...since we won't have the HP exhibit to go to, we will have all day on Wednesday to hang out. Now...if we can just find a way into the event halls on Wednesday. -Dave
  14. I loved seeing this in person. Hinckley is such an amazing builder and an even more amazing person. His building techniques are second to none and I hope he doesn't mind if I start emulating his style. He's so...well...stylish. -Dave ToT-LUG
  15. Ya know...I was trying to figure that out too! I have like one or two pics of you. What gives? I know we hung out way more than that. Guess I just never had the camera handy when you were there. We'll fix that next year. It was great to meet you Ricecracker. Stacy and I had a great time hanging with you! -Dave
  16. Some pictures from Brickworld are up on my Flickr Photostream. Enjoy! -Dave
  17. Back from Brickworld and it was a blast. It was great to meet a bunch of the Eurobricks crowd over there. I still can't believe how much fun we managed to cram into four days. If you have the chance, go to Brickworld next year. Now for the incriminating evidence... http://www.flickr.com/photos/tot-lug/sets/72157620402826854/ I took mostly pictures of people this year versus MOC's. There's already a ton of pictures out there showing all the cool creations. These pictures are all about the community. You'll see Hinckley and CopMike in quite a few. -Dave
  18. This was awesome. I saw this setup in person and Stash did a great job. The figs even managed to remain standing during the public expo! Many thanks again for Stash for setting this up. It was great to meet everyone I hadn't met before and even better to see old friends. I'll post pictures as soon as I recover. -Dave
  19. This is just awesome. I would love to see this in a 'messenger bag' size. If LEGO doesn't make one I just might have to do a little custom work to make my own. I just hope the quality on this bag is top-notch. -Dave ToT-LUG
  20. Spyder: Not entirely sure. I know what all we have for sets and, according to LUGNET, that accounts for about 241,000 pieces. However, we have also purchased a number of collections on E-Bay, at garage sales, and from colleagues at work in addition to doing a ton of Bricklink-ing over the past 3-4 years. I haven't done the best job of keeping track of these purchases so I'm a little fuzzy on the exact count. My best guess is that we are somewhere around 300,000 pieces right now (give or take 25,000). There is a link to our setlist on LUGNET in my signature. -Dave ToT-LUG
  21. I have no idea what this means but I am certainly intrigued. Gladly I only have to wait a couple more days to find out. -Dave ToT-LUG
  22. Be sure to stop by the ToT-LUG layout and say hi! Always nice to meet another Eurobricks member in person. Brickworld is going to be EPIC this year on so many levels. T-minus 3.5 hours until I leave... -Dave ToT-LUG
  23. This is sweet! Every layout should really have a sausage factory. I really like the details that you managed to cram into this MOC. I really hope you are bringing this one to Brickworld! -Dave ToT-LUG
  24. Just thought we would let everyone know...we packed the van tonight. Working until 11 am tomorrow morning and then we are off to Chi-Town!!! We'll be getting into town about 5 or 6 pm I imagine. Looking forward to seeing all of you soon. -Dave ToT-LUG
  25. Ahh...an excellent addition to the modular buildings we have already seen. The brick work on the front is great and I really like the interior details. Price is about right on for the number of elements you are getting. In fact, as many have pointed out, it is probably one of the most favorably priced sets in the modular line in terms of price/piece. I can understand some people's disappointment with the outside detail after the GG, but I still think TLG has done a spectacular job here and this will be a great set. Way to go TLG! Thanks for continuing to bring us great Town sets! -Dave ToT-LUG
