  1. I'm with Mister Phes and Bonaparte. Subforums aren't needed and have already been tried once and would just be a lot of unnecessary work.
  2. So far I've purchased: --Shipwreck Hideout (TRU) --Cannon Battle (TRU) --Soldier's Arsenal (BL) --1 Additional Imperial Soldiers II minifig and 4 additional Imperial Soldiers torso (used to upgrade my four shako-wearing bluecoats). --A few additional pirates (old and new) I plan to purchase: --Soldiers Fort --(another) Cannon Battle --(possibly) Loot Island (for the sake of having another island) --(possibly) Builder Set w/ Pirate The only reason I'm not buying the big ship is because I already have like 15 other BSB/SES-sized Lego ships...and basically that leaves me with no room to add more. I'm focusing on small ships (6277 style) and islands right now.
  3. I've always loved ships and I have focused on them until recently; however, there is definitely a need for islands and forts...without them, your ships have no places to dock, visit, pillage, or bury treasure. To me, play is an important factor (I'm an ESPG fan).
  4. I got one of these (mainly because TRU had no Forts and I wanted the limited edition female pirate) and was pleasantly surprised at how fun it was to build.
  5. That's impressive. Where did you get yours? I don't see a location on your profile.
  6. I noticed in mine that the directions said to put the goatee head on the pirate body and the stubble head on the Imperial Soldier body, lol. That's the opposite from the box art.
  7. In the USA, the original dark gray (shooting) cannons were quickly replaced with the intermediate, inoperative (black handle) cannon and then the non-shooting cannon (with the emblem on top). Now, with the Pirates back in production, we have a new cannon--the pearl dark gray ones...but did LEGO reduce the spring power in order to meet USA safety regulations? Before I fired it, I figured the new cannon would shoot further because it had a newer spring...but this was not the case. In testing one of the new cannons, I found it has only around 50 to 60 percent of the range of the old shooting cannons. I'm glad to have shooting cannons back, though.
  8. Found some at Toys R Us in Lithonia, GA...they had Cannon Battle, Loot Island and Shipwreck Hideout. Bought a Hideout and a Cannon Battle (left the other cannon battle for some lucky kid who will hopefully grow up to be an AFOL).
  9. Think about it: Making stores the only option at first means higher figures for those stores. This is intentional, because LEGO wants stores to say "These sell well. Let's get more." The point is to help keep Lego selling in stores. There may also be some sort of agreement between TLC and its sellers, to benefit the sellers by not competing directly with them for X period of time.
  10. HEY GUYS! Look what I found! TRU 15% off coupon, valid today through the 20th! http://blogs.toysrus.com/deals/
  11. Maybe the black button ones were from the re-issues in the early nineties?
  12. Just bought two pirates and the Imperial Armory set on Bricklink!
  13. Evil Stevie's Pirate Game.
  14. I no longer have the URLs... I deleted the auctions from my watch list after I posted the data here. I did find another interesting auction: Black Seas Barracuda on eBay Some lucky guy got a BSB for only $50! That's an amazing deal!
  15. I do not plan to buy any more large ships -- I already have an excess and need to focus more on islands and small craft for now.
  16. The 6277 is a fantastic centerpiece for your collection. It's a good home base for your Imperials, merchants, and such, and can easily be expanded onto.
  17. I really like your dock-side scene, and the pirate warning.
  18. Thanks for the complements. I Hope to post better pics of the 12-gun flagship sometime in the future. Most of the sets were bought used, but there were a few BSBs I got MISB. Nothing stays MISB at my house, though. I only buy to build with!
  19. Okay, Mr. Phes, here's some stats for you from my watch list: Final selling prices from recently sold 6285s: 5 bids, $102.50 8 bids, $101.78 17 bids, $130.10 12 bids, $187.50 A 6286 (seems to be much more rare) 25 bids, $278.99 Another interesting find: 6277 Merchant ship ONLY: 7 bids, $41.01 Anyone have a spare $3000? http://cgi.ebay.com/LEGO-PIRATE-10040-6289...Q2em118Q2el1247
  20. Well, originally I think I bought: 3x 6274 Caribbean Clippers 3x 6285 Black Seas Barracuda 2x 10040 Black Seas Barracuda 2x 6286 Skull's Eye Schooner 2x Imperial Flagships 2x Armada Flagships I have also bought at least 5 ship hulls on bricklink, and parts. Three of them are RBR hull parts, but with an extra center section (so they have 3 center sections each). I bought 800 to 900 pirates from torquay's bulk store on Bricklink, and I have about 120 or so bluecoats. I use red for the standard guys and yellow epaulettes for the higher ranking guys (to fit with Lego's sets). My bluecoats use the Western weapons, though, because they were cheaper at the time. One of the parts of my collection that I don't have a photo of is my treasure...I went on a spending binge one time and literally bought half the gold coins on Bricklink...so now I have enough gold to fill up three BSB-size hulls end to end, and enough jewels to fill up a fourth. I have too many ships and not enough docks and land, so my latest project is to build a large dock and many islands. As for building a large ship, there's another (not pictured) ship-rigged two-decker that I've slowly been working on. It has four center sections. I intend to use my collection productively by running Evil Stevie's Pirate Game in public venues like DragonCon.
  21. ISS Advantage 60a, ISS Adventure 60c Here's some pictures of some of my ships: My flagship, ISS Advantage. There are two 6274s behind it. ISS Adventure (Red Sides), a 6285, 6277, and a redcoat BSB-size ship in the mirror. Small vessels and an Imperial Base (sorry for the blurriness) An Imperial fort (somewhat overmanned) and a small vessel, the ISS Little Red Dragon. A BSB-size ship with sand green. Needs some windows. 6286 Misc WIPs and merchant ships
  22. Thanks for the edits; they were a good idea. I love the colors on this MOC. Matt has created a good, consistent color scheme. The custom main sail looks good and the masts are nicely placed, with lots of room in between for playability. I like the ladders used to extend the shrouds on the mainmast, and I think the sterncastle looks fine. It's also a creative use of Western theme figs and symbols for Pirate theme purposes.
  23. 59-b Found this: MOC Page Gallery I've used the US guys from the cavalry sets as another high-seas faction, too. :D
  24. I love it! The hold looks excellent!
