  1. I have to admit that lately, I buy mainly sets for the minis. When i was young, Minis were really similar from one set to the other. Remember the Blacktrons. Only 1 type for all the sets, same with M-tron... or the forestmen. only 3 types of torsos and 2 hat colors for all the sets. At this time, I was buying a set only for a new building. But lately, look at those aliens from Space Police!!! it's giving heat in the head! So much cool characters. So much creativity!!! and the Castle fantasy line!!! I think Lately, Lego is much more creative with the minis than with the buildings. For exemple with "Kingdoms", it's the come back of the main big classic castle, then the little tower and then the carriage and to finish a little catapult. For an old Lego buyer like me, I feel like I saw those sets again and again since the crusaders. I understand Lego can't do something else than those sets as they are what kids are looking for, but for me, except the new minis with new hats and new prints, those sets don't have so much interest. 1 more castle...mmh. Maybe Lego needs to do a set for AFOLs in each new theme. something never seen before like a medieval port or a medieval fortified farm. A set like Medieval Village is interesting for both buldings and minis for exemple! in the castle fantasy line, a lot of sets were interesting too like the dwarves'mines! :) I think it's the main reason I collect Lego more for Minis lately.
  2. I just discovered a similar topic: "Surging minifig popularity?" please moderators, delete my topic as it is exactly the same question. sorry.
  3. I don't know if this question was discussed before, but it's something I asked myself lately. I'm an Old 33years old Lego buyer and I remember buying a set for a new building before. For exemple, I could buy a forestmen's 6077 "Forestmen's River Fortress" just because of the tower in the tree and all the stories i would imagine/play with it. This, even if I already had all the previous forestmen sets and then, all the different type of forestmen possible. So I was buying a set without looking at the "Minis" that would come in double, but more looking at the buldings. Lately, I have to say i buy a set exclusively for the minis. the buildings, space ships and all what can turn arround is important still, but not essential. I prefer a set with amazing minis and poor buildings/vehicles than the opposite. And the Minis only make me choose what set I will buy or not. An exemple: My "worst" purchase was the 7661 (Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive Booster Ring) only to have Kit fisto...at this time he was only in this set. And even if I had no interest in this starfighter's Hyperdrive, I bought it stupidly... This is since TLG is doing an amazing work on Minis. Is it good? is it bad? I really don't know. But i definitly saw big changes in my way to buy Lego sets. I'm curious to see what you think and if you feel the same? Do you buy a set more for: 1- Minis 2- Buildings and Vehicles 3- 50-50
  4. very nice review. This set is a must have for me too. But yeah, 50$ is really too much for such a few pieces. Anyway, I will buy as it is the only way to have cad bane and senate guards without buying priceless sets. Finally, we are all ready to put this price because the minis are essential ones for Star wars collection...
  5. Hey hey! Nice Really good for your age! You are on the good road tobecome a good Lego drawer!:)
  6. Yes!!! :D you can say it like this too! I didn't want to put any real name not to give any problems to the forum. ;)
  7. I collect: Castle Kingdoms Space Police Star Wars Pirates Atlantis I buy a lot of sets (for pieces and cause they are amazing) from Prince of Persia Indiana Jones Harry Potter My son collects Sponge Bob Toy story and I plan to collect soon world racers new harry potter line + I still buy old sets connected with space and castle theme i missed when I was younger. too much good stuff done by Lego lately. I burn too much money every month. Fortunatly, we live in Paris and our flat as most of the parisian flats is small, and soon I will have reach my space limit. ...so I think...that... we will have to move to a bigger flat soon! :D
  8. Very nice MoC! :)
  9. Thanks for the comments guys! :) Def: Thanks to you for the precious informations! ;) Captain Bayonet: For the space man decal, just look a little upper in the thread. You got a High Res Button asside of the pic. It's clean enough to print. You will just have to "detach" the torso, legs and face elements from the background mini. For the templar, sorry. I still don't have a clean vectorial draw. I can't satisfy your request. :( AhabDarab: May the gods of Lego and TLG listen to you now! who knows... ;) Catanas: thanks! :) Aanchir: thanks!:) yeah. My aim is really not to fool people. I just wanted to put the minis in the same background to see if they can "look like" and fit the TLG style. (and it's always cool to dream and imagine them being official minis! ;) ) For a minifigure design, depends what you mean: For a sketch like you can see little sketches in Monster Theme, let's say 2 or 3 minutes. A fast rough with blue col-erase (not to see so much the rough lines after. I hate rough grey dirt) and then i pass fast over the main lines with a black pencil. For a Photoshop cheating (like the page with 8 minis): it's a little longer. approximatly 2 or 3 hours. I did the 8 minis in a week end. But week end fully. Did close to nothing else. And you can see if you look carefully that the work is not so clean. Maybe I will do a tutorial to explain how I mix pictures, adjust colors, aply the decals "virtually" and how you have to play with layers to have this result. Masked Builder: thanks. Yeah, monster Theme is maybe the Lego theme I miss the most. I would like so much that they develope it. they already teased us a little with the "Studio" theme and the sets with Dracula, Mommy, Frankenstein... I got a lot more ideas for this Monster theme. Unlimited concept. Hound Knight : thanks. SirWacky: ahah! 5 hobos?! :D what would you do with them? it would be crisis time in Lego city too?! :D thanks a lot for comment! and yes, it looks basket Ball player comes in front of the other minis very often as the favorit one. Strange. I tought the "Imperial/Revolutionary War Soldier" and "Swamp monster" would come first. again, thanks for all comments.
  10. I think it would be a total succes with both adults and kids. Adults: because we all wait for something fresh. Even if the new line of Castle is nice, an ancient theme or a Mythology theme would be a revolution! Personnaly, it's maybe the theme i wait the most (with classic monsters theme.) Kids: too much people underestimate kids maybe. Kids are not as limited. They dream about a lot more than middle age knights. Just remember what you liked when you were kid. What books, what films, what cartoons. The peplums. Conan the barbarian. In france for exemple, the little Asterix is really popular and there is no Asterix without ROMANS. For the latest kids, Gladiator is printed in there heads forever. So yes, definitly Kids would adore Roman armies, gladiators, spartans, mythologic warriors, cyclops, minotaurs, barbarians. there is the same problem in cartoon industry. Today we only got contemporary school themes as most of the channels fear that our kids won't be able to understand and transpose themselves in another time. (past especially). What a joke. Adults thinking that way are the limited minds and they slow down creativity and variety. Themes like Ancient, Mythology, Celtic legends, Legendary monsters are without risks. it's a garanty of succes cause it got all what kids are looking for.
  11. yes, i knew about the homage. I won't tell you I had the very first sets as I was 1 only in 1978 but I had those white and red space men. For the print on the Vintage Minifigure collection, yes, i can understand it disturbs you. But honestly, nothing big. Then if you really want to be a purist, you need to buy real vintage ones with classic helmet. And thank you for the nice review KimT. I forgot it in my first message! ;)
  12. What I've noticed first is the mising part on the hand of the space man pic. Strange they didn't notice it before putting online... If not the mini was already in the Vintage Minifigures collection pack Vol.2 so nothing new. Anyway, as a good nerd that I am, I ordered for more than 55 Euros to recieve it. But as a good dumb that i am, I forgot to put the code in my command!!! :D Fortunatly Lego Sellers are super cool and they sent me one after i explained them my mistake! Thanks to them! :) But what about a lime green space man for the next one! And an orange one!!! I dream to have them in those colors. Just the colors they got in the lego game: Lunar Command. here...
  13. Ahaha! Excelent! It's the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the Clown Haircut and asked to myself in what custom it could be used. Not so easy to reuse this red haircut for anything else... You did it amazingly!! Bravo!
  14. cool. Asking what customers want! Lego understood all! anyway i'm surprised by the questions. especialy "Do you use a smartphone?"... I looked at questions a seconde time and I've noticed that options for the question "What could we do at The LEGO Group to become even better in your opinion?" are changing all the time. So finally, the panel of questions is really large.
  15. I applied too. Did my application fast in 15 days. Went to print it in a hurry, sent it fast with a fast delivery service...All this to know 2 days after we had one month more!!! :D:D:D oh....nevermind! The more applications there will be the more TLG will find the best people and the more we will have amazing minis! So all in all it's good to have one month to let time to the maximum people to apply! Good luck to everybody.
  16. thanks a lot for all those cool comments! :) SlyOwl: Yes! it's exactly this. I played with pictures. And most of the pics came from the previous Minifigures serie 1 and 2 render. And as you saw, there is some drawing too for new pieces. I like to customise that way as it is really fastly done and you can imagine the future minifig better. Lately, I modeled a Lego figure in 3DSmax and I plan to do different poses and render them with Vray to have new poses with a realistic aspect. Then it will be easy to customise them fast. first model I did with the 3D model is the swamp thing. here is the whole "Development" i did for it. Def: Yes, I saw your minifigs designs and they are Fresh! we can feel you took pleasure doing them. A lot of nice ideas. I like the Hotel theme and the Hipster the most! Keep up the fun work!!! :) Lego Hero: Thanks for this detailed comment! :) Basket Ball player: Yes, i wanted to give him a 70's touch with Afro and 70's Mustach. To make him more "2010" you would just have to change the head. Stewardess: It was a dilem. As i tried to respect the Lego style. And they never did headgears that way. Most of the time it's 1 color headgear (except when there is feathers or visor...) But I thought it would be cool to have a type of Men and women hair with possibility to plug a little hat with different color on it(stewardess, waitress, Cook, Flower, Bunny Girl! :D ) Imperial/Revolutionary War Soldier: Yes! they need to do the Wigs (Aristocrat Headgear). it was one of the 1st requests in the "Parts request" done by Classic Pirate community. here Creature From the Black Lagoon: I would like to see the whole "Classic monsters" theme developed by lego. Would be too nice. here some rough showing what it can look like. Hobo: Yes...limited use. But what is a city without a charismatic Hobo under the bridge? :) Hat can be used for Dr Watson and a lot of 1800's/western figs in general. Old Guy: Same as the Hobo. Would be cool to have a set with the whole family. With Grand pa and Grand ma. Not to forget a part of our society. :) Space Guy: I tried to have a mix inbetween Classic Space which I adore and giving it a "Warhammer 40k" touch with the destroyer space suit. By this armor, you can feel that Life in Space is not Hollidays everyday!!! :D Thanks again for the kind words.
  17. completed! :) Good Luck.
  18. Thanks for the comments! :) Rayman: No for the moment, I don't have any plans on realising them because of a serious lack of time. But time will come... For WhiteFang, KieldaMan, Cardinal Brick and all the people who like the stewardess, the decal. Feel free to use it. Hi-Res here
  19. I wanted to share with you some minis/decals I developed/custmised those last days. I based myself on the latest amazing Minifigures collection and i customised what I would like to see in the series to come. Hi-Res here Hi-Res here Hi-Res here Hi-Res here If the pics are too large, let me know, I will reduce. For the decals, if you want to use them, do. Cool if you mention my name.
  20. Today i was looking at those magnets after I took away some Star wars minis from them. And I asked myself why Ooooh why lego did such dumb pieces? And suddently, while looking at a Space Police space ship freshly bought... Here is a cool way to finally use those magnets http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IV9W5sKJdTg/S5bU...withmagnets.jpg Now you can fixe your space ships on every metallic doors/Fridge you want. It's wife that will be happy! :D I know, I know... it's genious idea!
  21. Shmails 3 BlackRabbit 2 TinyPiesRUs 2
  22. thanks for the review! :) And yes, I agree with you for the price... 16,90 was better. When you think you can have 2 sets of Army men for this price...the choice is done! :D Moreover, it will be possible to have woody and Buzz in 2 other sets that are more interesting. So you really need to have an interest in the little car to buy this set...
  23. I prefer the Playmobil plastic Flags. they got both "realistic look" and "Plastic" advantages of the old flags. you can see here on top of this boat: http://www.playmobil-butikken.com/KMSKRS/b...mobil/4424b.jpg Lego have to copy playmobil for Flags. It's possible to use Playmobil flags on lego boats but it needs a little adjustment.
  24. I saw lately an amazing way to do Tree branches. I can't find the pic on the net but it was a MOC of Endor Ewok trees. And the guy used Brown Lego technic connectors. The one with different angles. Connecting them all together and plugging leaves on it is doing amazing branches. I wil try to find the pic.
  25. I didn't see it. The worst is that I searched at this high resolution poster for a long time without finding. And even worst is that I looked at this second link you posted... Maybe cause the topics ot too much infos inside for a single thread... Better to separate a little imo But maybe it's only me. I don't have time to pass long hours to read the thread so I just pass fast over them and try to find what i really search. Sorry to open an unusefull topic. Maybe it will be usefull one for guys like me?! :D
