  1. The Minigun is awesome
  2. Thanks for the comments Another quick shot with my Bonsai- thought of the idea yesterday when shooting the Scout Troopers and couldn't resist taking it today as the weathers nice again- Stormtrooper Picnic
  3. Couple more Scout Trooper shots (with my long suffering Bonsai tree!- perfect minifig scale ) Couldn't decide if i liked the landscape or the portrait versions better... so i put em both up
  4. Thanks, yeah I loved the little sun glare!, was a happy accident when i was taking the shot Hehe- was intentional, glad that comes across , its kinda hard to get across with such small figures with limited articulation
  5. Thanks for the comments- was pretty pleased with how Slimer turned out, was pretty hard to make him minifig scale! Gonna have a go at ecto-1 but i'll have to wait till i can get some white bricks for it. Yeah Slimer can be removed from his pole- i made a hole before i baked him in the oven to harden him, so he can easily be taken on and off.
  6. Posted a couple of shots of these up in the brickforge thread- but thought id give em their own topic as i've taken a couple more shots Anyways here's my Ghostbusters minifigs- proton packs from Brickforge, and Slimer hand made from Fimo by Me ^^^"It's right here, Ray. It's... looking at me" ^^^"He Slimed Me!"
  7. Thanks- prob best to check out my flickr page for all my shots together; would be a bit of a picture heavy post if i put em all up at the start I've got a set just for all my lego shots
  8. Yeah that was really bugging me too! Almost didnt put it because of it- i can be a bit of a perfectionist at times The brickarms guns are great- placed my first order recently, very pleased with the quality- gonna have to get some of the new weapons they've just put up.
  9. Hehe - very true! Thanks - yeah i did think about swapping his body for one of the german soldiers, so as to match the shot in the film, but just didn't look much like Indy anymore- so kept him in his traditional outfit. Had a look at the Star Wars shots from yesterday again today, didnt quite turn out how I wanted but thought id up em anyways- C-3PO trying to hail a Sandcrawler And yet ANOTHER Sandtrooper shot... I live near the beach and seemingly cant go without taking a couple of troopers with me! Oh well, kinda like how the shot turned out so thought id pop it up
  10. Thanks General Armendariz Quick Indy shot from today (Bit off-topic as not Star Wars but seemed daft starting a new thread for one shot). I took a couple of Star Wars ones too, but they didn't turn out how I wanted them too
  11. Used a blue light for this, so no real photoshopping- was going for something a bit more stylised- the saturation mostly comes more from how close the light source was and the exposure time. The only editing was a wee bit of contrast adjustment, and framing. But fair point about the saturation- its quite a hard one to get spot on with the white troopers, and a close up light source. All comments gratefully received Good luck with your new light- be cool to see how you get on- post up your results
  12. Thanks very much Perfectly ok to save em for your own personal use. A lot of my shots make good wallpapers so very happy and flattered that people want to save them- just so long as they dont get reposted on the web, or used for any commercial purposes.
  13. Very cool- I heartily endorse this tread And thanks for the bigup Clone O'Patra Really really like your first shots- and really great angle on the second one - you get a really cool sense of scale with the tree trunks- though just as an idea sometimes if you move away leaves etc on the ground it can make the minifigs look even more lifesize. But its a great first attempt- i think the key thing is to just have fun, and enjoy taking your shots- I've only been taking mine for a couple of years, but the best way to learn is to just do it. If i were to offer any advice id just say take a whole LOAD of shots when your shooting- you'll often find the best angle composition can sometimes be a complete fluke- happens a lot with my shots! The other thing is give your shots a quick edit in a photo editing package. I never used to do anything with mine, but youd be suprised how a quick edit can really give your shots a boost. All i ever do on mine now is to boost the contrast slightly and sometimes drop the brightness a notch. Most basic photo editing software will let you so that- you dont need photoshop etc.. It can sometimes really give your shots a much more cinematic feel, and is really quick and easy to do. I started taking shots of my toys after being inspired by Brian McCarty's shots of Vinyl art toys- have a look here- Brian McCarty's Flickr Page His stuff is amazing, so so cool. I just wanted to have a go at creating some shots that look as good as his, think i've gotten better with time, and i just really enjoy doing it Very cool to think i've inspired someone to take photo's of their stuff! And keep them coming I want to see more!
  14. New Snowtrooper shot- Did one very similar for the hasbro Snowtrooper action figure (up on my photostream), but thought id do a lego version as well
  15. Wow! Thats pretty awesome- cant wait to see it finished.
  16. New shot from today- was feeling in a silly mood :D 'The Ghost Of Speedy Hollow' The Scout Troopers often tell of the skeletal figure which has been spotted in endor's forests on dark and spooky nights. Legend has it that the Scout fell prey to some particularly vicious little ewoks- and now the ghostly trooper roams the woods hunting down the little furballs!
  17. Thanks All i can say is give it a go So long as you have a digital camera you should have a macro setting, find an interesting backdrop/ location- a garden's always good for some endoresque scenery and shoot away! The main thing is to take loads of pictures- for most of my shots i can take up to 50 photos of the same thing!. With digital you just delete the ones you dont like- i'll usually only end up with 1 or 2 that i really like. Get as close as the macro on your camera will allow you- for a good sense of scale its worth getting as low down as you can as well so your on the same level as the figs. Try lots of different angles, just play around with the composition and see what looks best. If your shooting outdoors, try and do it on a sunny/ bright day for best results. Let me know how you get on- and post the shots up in here, be cool to see em
  18. Thanks again for all the comments I've got a fujifilm S8100- only a bridge type camera so it has a fixed lens- have a look at the top of page 4 in this thread, i posted about what apertures etc... i use.
  19. That made me smile- alas i have no studio, my photo's are taken in an incredibly low-tech way! Indoor ones are usually just a piece of white A4 paper taped to the wall on my desk, its a great size for lego minifigs- think id stuggle with shooting anything larger though A few pages back there's a post on how i light em- again pretty low-tech. Glad you like the shots
  20. Haha! Everyone play nice and share the wallpapers ...Or be the envy of all your friends and buy a print of one of them for your wall Back on topic- Here's a couple of the new ones hot of the press!
  21. The rifle's from Little Armory- as are all my minifig weapons. Did a big-ish order from them 3/4 years ago now, and so far have had enough to match up to all my figs since then
