  1. This thread should be sticky
  2. There are three large-sized City sets coming out in 2009 and none of them has a roadplate: 7633 Construction Site 7641 City Corner 7642 Garage Do you think it might be a new LEGO policy for the upcoming years, not to include roadplates in sets and instead to sell roadplates separately? I think it might be true, and I actually like it. It lowers the price of such sets probably by a good 5$/5e. It allows the design to be unconstrained by roadplate size, although this may be something that many people don't like (see Garage and previously the Fire Station). It's good for people who already have many roadplates and don't need more. It's good for people who prefer older types of roadplates over the current ones. What do you think?
  3. I'm barely out of my dark ages, so I don't yet have a storing system. But I know that my ultimate target storage system will be this:
  4. Nice review! I'm not so positive on the set tho. It seems one of the least useful impulse sets to me, if not the worst of them. The minifig itself is great, no question. Actually I like this face more than most of the faces in 2009 pirate sets. But the accessories are IMHO not good at all.
  5. Other than the fact that the minifigs' faces are merrier in the old sets and angrier in the new sets, I don't see any incompatibility IMO the most important compatibility issue is that the old and new ships' bases can be combined together (so at least they should have similar widths).
  6. I bought the 7905 Building Crane for 38e (originally listed at 75e), the 7893 Passenger Plane for 25e (originally 55e) and the 7898 Cargo Train Deluxe for 77e (don't remember the full price...). That's my best luck so far. Other heavily discounted sets I've found but didn't buy have been the 7249 XXL Mobile Crane for 25e (originally ~50e) and the 7894 Airport for 40e (originally 75e). Unfortunately the starting prices here in Finland are very high, so finding the occasional clearance sale is a bless.
  7. Shredder here... well, sort of. I'm at amateur level. I'm 33 and have been playing since age 17, but with some long black-out period in between. I played in 4 bands overtime (3 before the black-out), but only 2 were serious enough to get some gigging. I studied with private teachers for the first 5 years, then turn to self-teaching. My last band stopped activity about 5 months ago due to drummer's health problems which aren't solved yet; out of respect for her, we didn't seek another drummist and we're instead planning to turn from a gig-oriented cover band to recording originals, which supposedly should be less demanding for her health. I owned several pieces of equipment through the years, but today I'm downsized to just the minimum: one electric (Charvel), one classical (non-famous brand), one effect processor (Boss GT-8), and one amp (Squier). I'm a rock-type guitarist: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Lenny Kravitz... not much "shread" here, but as part of personal studies and exercise I've always challenged myself with some classic shread too, mostly Satriani, Vai and Petrucci (some lucky songs by them I can play, but definitely not the majority).
  8. Here's my first post on Eurobricks forums. I think I've read somewhere that your first attempt must always be a "Hello World!" err... Legoland of course I already post on a few other Lego forums on the web, always with the same nickname. I'm an AFOL getting out of his dark ages. I won't post much but I hope I can provide the occasional interesting comment and probably some set reviews. At the moment I will probably get much more benefits from Eurobricks than Eurobricks will get from my presence... I hope to find here good building technique suggestions and inspirations. Happy building!
