Is EB still an exclusive adult site?
MetroiD replied to The Crazy One's topic in Forum Information and Help
It's full of kids and teens on EB, crazy one, and even though once in a while some of them decide to become annoying and earn themselves a ban, most of the time the mods/admins hardly have any problems with people below the age of 18 posting on Eurobricks. -
I was also curious about that... could you please enlighten us, Infomaniac?

Does anybody else like Motorcycles around here?

Finally! This was worth the wait :) А hilarious entry... which would have been downright erotic if we were talking about a female pirate captain I like the pirate's positioning and the way you've filled the bathtub with trans-blue round plates :) You could have used some trans-clear or even white ones as foam / bubbles here and there, but that's not much of an issue anyway. The two bottles of hair conditioner / body lotion also add to the fun value of this... I would never have imagined that pirates loved pampering themselves this much! A thing that I would have enjoyed seeing here is a bath curtain - that would give the whole MOC a "sneak-peek" kind of look... But it's also quite funny as it is right now. Good thing that you managed to take care of all these photo-related problems eventually - and best of luck in the contest :]

You're welcome. Tip #2: Your folder on Brickshelf won't become public before it's moderated. That will take some time. The pictures can still be deeplinked though, so you might wanna edit your post and use deeplinks - those are the [.img] [./img] codes, just without the dots - or you can simply click on the "Insert Image" icon above the text field. Otherwise your entry will probably not be viewable for some time - and that's considering the best case scenario, in which Brickshelf doesn't go down once again in a few hours...

Just make sure you don't hunt & catch it using cannonball fire, else there'd be nothing left for you to eat Which wouldn't be too bad, seeing as seagull meat has never really been much of a delicacy... I get your point regarding the cannonball and it sounds quite logical. A cannonball among all that blood and feathers might really look a bit too much. As to the smoke - this solution works just fine, I was merely suggesting something you could try out in the future, when those pirates start hunting griffins for example! And hey, don't take my comment about the gory details here too seriously - I like to think that I still have some twisted sense of humour, so I see this entry as a fun MOC, which is just what it is. I'm not going to start ranting about condoning hunting & animal violence, don't worry :)

Bart's piece of advice really proved useful here. The window in the background sort of makes this look as if it were taking place in a Captain's Cabin, so I guess it's quite a bit more believable now. If you'd had some more time left, I would have totally spurred you on to check out the Captain's Cabin contest and use some inspiration for a little piece of appropriate furniture here, but... given the time you had for this entry, it is still a very nice improvement :) Good luck mate!

Another last last last minute entry! Yay! (As a matter of fact, it's already 1. December in my corner of the world!) This one is pretty much in the balance as far as violence is concerned, at least in my books... SlyOwl did not specify whether animal violence is tolerated, but I think the contest administrators will go along with it - even though the sight of that seagull exploding is rather gory. That's a proper idea for a sport though - and it's just what I'd actually expect seadogs to start practicing, unlike Tereglith here who's pretty sure they can put those times of bloodshed and slaughter behind them and start putting away So there's a nice combination of originality and realism - likey! Another advange to this MOC is the usage of the best possible expressions - you didn't need to explain anything, from the sheer violent joy in the pirate lass' expression to the dissatisfied look in that Imperial soldier's face - it's all spot on and even though this might seem like an easy job given the current pattern of minifig face expressions, I still think it's often overlooked. I like how you've handled it here! As to the seagulls - you've made quite an accurate representation using clips and hands there - kudos for that, I myself enjoy seeing these pieces utilised in an innovative manner. Tereglith's suggestion about using tooth pieces is nice, but I'm not really sure you can actually find a way of connecting those without making the neck look too bulgy - and even if you did, seagulls don't generally have too long beaks, so I think you should keep the current design. Not that you have time to change it anyway... One thing I'm not certain about is the exploding bird. While I get the blood bursting out of it (and I admit, I'm not overjoyed by the sight... because I actually like seagulls quite a bit), I don't really see the cannonball that hit it. Where is it, has it vanished in thin air / blood? It should be pretty much the size of 2/3 the bird here, but I can't find it anywhere - have you perhaps forgotten to include it? And as to the smoke coming out of the cannon - it's a fine depiction, although I think that using the ice cream cone technique (i.e. piling ice cream cones on top of each other so that they look like smoke) would have looked better here. Another thing you could have used is the interconnecting skeleton arms technique - that way you could have shown the projectile of the cannonball hitting that poor, defenseless, innocent bird (gotcha there, didn't I :P). To sum it all up - a nice MOC with some very cool touches and a good (albeit bloody) idea. Good luck in the contest!

Not for anyone who's trying to provide some feedback it isn't

I wouldn't worry about that capto, you've got a wonderful entry here and it has a perfectly good chance of winning something nice for you! Besides, the ideas you've gathered along the way this time will help make your next MOC even more picturesque - I definitely enjoy your style and will be looking forward to seeing more from you mate :]

Agree 100%. That, the sleeping sailor in his hammock and the unicorn on her bow are the kind of little (but ever so important) touches that just go to show how much work was put in this MOC.

Nice! Yours are the first comic entries in this contest, extra points for originality there :) Quite current, the topic those two are discussing - I bet all of the entrants would love to join them as well. This is a fun and enjoyable MOC, well done. The construction is also very "relaxed" - especially with those palms in the center of the X-shaped island, very nice touch. My only (big!) concern is that if I were to go on a honeymoon, I'd rather pick a deserted island than one where sooo many pirates are doing so many different things . I wouldn't like to be in the shoes of that captain-groom - that's "Married with Children" in Colonial times right there! Is your next MOC still going to be a PTV II entry?! You do know you're limited to one entry per category, right? I'd love to see the story continued though

Anno 1701, her majesty whole proud almost done
MetroiD replied to maydayartist's topic in Pirate MOCs
Personally, I don't think this is such a big problem. It was a common thing for rails to be implemented after a ship was built so that she could be launched in the proper direction - and those can definitely be included here as well, so don't worry about that mate :) -
Good save! So that's why I couldn't see any pancakes there... You've definitely been a bad influence though mate! I'd really love some pancakes right now and I'll make sure I'll cook some first thing in the morning :)

I must agree with Bart - both on the rum part, and regarding the usage of grill tiles here... While I understand the notion of "finishing off" this little vignette with such a feature, I don't think grills are the most suitable piece to use. Other than that, I was wondering why it's only the redcoat who has a glass in his hand - discrimination anyone ? Or has the pirate already drunk up all the rum straight from the bottle... Talking of which - I did look hard and tried to find a bottle, but I finally gave up - this is indeed a small division entry, but it still could have used some higher-res pictures to really show people what's going on there... 640x480 would probably have been perfect - that way I could also really tell if there is an actual bottle stashed anywhere or not. That aside, this still is a very nice vig! I like the style of it and I'll be looking forward to seeing more from you danny :) Good luck in the contest!

Yep, that's precisely what I've been ranting about these last few days... Not only are the viewers/voters literally flooded with dozens of wonderful MOCs, but it's also extremely hard on everyone who's trying to provide any kind of feedback, seeing as that will not be useful in any way to the MOCcers with the contest ending in just a few hours. Nevertheless, it's good to have seen so many wonderful MOCs and this is no exception. I too enjoy this entry's "town planning" - as in, structures, fountains and beautification. I also love the way the fort's cannons have been built here! If there's one thing that's a bit of a disappointment here, it's the straight line that the dock follows throughout. Even though the use of red tiles works well to break off the monotony, the front still looks a bit too plain - a few more details there could have worked nicely, and a curved/ diagonal build would have been a really great choice. I'd say that the ship also suffers from more or less the same drawback in its construction - I'm not a fan of multi-coloured vessels, but a bright line or some elements in colours other than black or brown would have worked really nicely here, even if it were just to focus the viewers' attention on some specific detail. On the other hand though, this entry has some very original elements as well and I'm definitely not trying to be excessively negative :) For example, I love the sight of St. George's flag there; as well as the inclusion of a small island "retreat". There are also some wonderful scenes and great minifig usage throughout (the DIY-raft is a pure win here, and so is the "coming back together" scene taking place at the docks). Kudos for this wonderful entry, Lego_Warlord_8 :) And good luck with it!

This has got to be the best overall presentation in the entire contest. With so many pics, videos and even those teasers, you've nailed it down perfectly, NewRight! Marketing & advertising ftw The MOC itself doesn't disappoint either - and what I love about it the most is its modularity and full range of functions. Who doesn't like a well-built, sturdy yet fully playable diorama! I don't think you would have needed too much "creative / constructive criticism", since you've obviously known what you want to build and how you want to build it all along :) The details are lovely and I've definitely enjoyed looking for more and more interesting stuff in your flickr gallery. It's a shame though that this has been entered so late and so becomes one of the many wonderful (and HUGE) last-minute entries... But at least you made sure to build up our anticipation!! The only improvement I feel this one could have used is an increase in the size of buildings... It may just be me, but they seem a bit on the compact side, especially compared to the Governor's huge ship. I know it's a small colony in the process of rebuilding, but for some reason I feel the houses could have used an additional layer or two of bricks. As to the ship - she's definitely a beauty, but it looks to me that her stern is a bit too high above the water... You haven't provided too many angles of her though, so I might as well be mistaken here. Not trying to be fussy, just mentioning To sum it all up - I'm mighty glad I've finally seen this beauty of a MOC! Good luck in the contest NewRight!!!

Veeery nice setup with the trans-clear plate in the background - it's an absolute eyecatcher. This may not be the most complex build in the Medium division, but it still shows a nice (and happy!) story - and besides, the idea of dressing up those pirate boys and gals for the occasion has worked out wonderfully. Even though this entry could also have used some more detail (such as a church organ, for example), I like the way your story is developing... Can't wait to see part 3/3 - better hurry up with that!
-
I guess this works fine as an intro /first part to your story, but I still think you could have added some scenery to the MOC - it could have been situated in a room or hall of sorts... and then it would have been a perfectly fine Small division entry - after all, why enter it if it won't be subject to voting?

Absolutely. My experience with regular weight training shows that no other chemicals are good apart from proteins. Forget about weight gainers, that will only mess up your system and turn your liver into a mess. When I used to train hard, I didn't have enough time to eat 5 or 6 times a day - or sleep as much as I should have. So instead I had a protein milk shake ready every morning - and when I came back home to grab my gym stuff and go training, I chugged that thing down (even though I hated its chemically/sugary taste). Give it half an hour / an hour and start training, your body will by then have "consumed" the protein. That is very useful when you can't eat properly for one reason or another. It is also a good supplement to any diet, as long as you don't overdose on proteins - which has a fairly low chance of happening anyway. It could also help your body with its food rations and assist you in building up your weight. However, if you're not slim, it can also have a negative impact - after a few months of training with proteins, I gained in every department, but my hip size had also increased. Which is why I heartily recommend Milan's solution - first try dividing your food into portions so that you eat 5 or 6 times a day. That's the best way to actually teach your system how to "analyze" your diet and make the most out of it. On a sidenote - Milan, come over to Sofia bro, it's not too far off and besides I need a fitness buddy / instructor

Nice use of pieces all over!!! And an original idea too :) Those hedges do look alive - although for some of them this seems to be theit final breath. Knowing that any feedback is pretty much useless is a bit of a put-off, but the good thing is that I can't think of anything you could/should have changed here! Well done & good luck in the competition.

Well, we've actually had pirates mining on another separate occasion in the contest, apart from Tereglith's entry, as well as another captain digging up a treasure... But it doesn't matter anyway, digging up long-forgotten piles of gold is all you could expect from those old seadogs, right! Nice MOC and good use of those *URPs :) It does look a bit edgy to me, but then again I guess that's what the ground is supposed to look like if it's all dug up. It's just that this actually resembles a solid rock cavern as opposed to a hole that was dug in the ground - I think tan & brown would have worked better than gray & bley here. But that's just a nit-pick - overall, a nice entry and good job to you & your son!

My oh my, the bird on the balcony has got to be one of the most colourful parrots I've ever seen Cheers for entering the contest capto! You've got yourself a very nice entry featuring some wonderful scenes. The only thing I would have recommended (of course, now it's too late to alter anything, but still...) would be an increase in the size of the actual house as opposed to the size of the water / rocks / street. While all of those element have their own part to play here and contribute to your build, I feel that you've left such a tiny space for the building itself that it looks a bit too fragile there. I know it's only supposed to be the facade of the house and it is indeed a good idea - but with the space you had in the Medium division, I do feel you could have afforded to lose a line of bricks from the sea and the street in order to have a more evenly-matched representation of these three different parts of your build. That way you could also have included more furniture in the building. That said though, the non-round-bricks cobblestone street is a very nice touch, very easy on the eyes! And so is the building's facade - even though I feel the second floor could have used some more colours instead of just brown, such as for example white or silver for the railing of the balcony. Oh, and last but not least - the scenes you've created using that "ripped leg" technique look wonderfully and contribute to the "chilled" feel of this one - great job!
-
I really like your idea, but it looks to me that there's so much going on it's hard to actually grasp what it's all about unless one goes through your back-story... Even after doing so, I don't actually see too much in this MOC that would remind me of pancakes - to be perfectly honest, from the pics you've posted, I can't make out where the pancakes are supposed to be. And that's a shame because it's such an original concept (befitting a true entrepreneur!) While I totally enjoy the concept of having two levels and also depicting the underwater flora & fauna, I was a bit disappointed to find out that there's nothing actually going on in this nice submarine world that would relate to the story and be a part of it. Even though it's nicely done, I really think you should have considered adding a twist to your story as a sort of "excuse" to have such a vast part of your MOC situated below sea level.

Shipwreck Links, Hole 3 (featuring micro-scale Eldorado Fortress)
MetroiD replied to Pellaeon's topic in Pirate MOCs
Why am I not surprised Regarding that suggestion about Hole 3 - I just thought that would make the hole tougher to get in one shot, is all. Simply passing the gem under the Fortress just sounded a bit too easy. But then again, it doesn't have to be an expert golf course now does it :] Putt away!
