  1. you're right, POV-Ray has an extreme quality by default, that's why it takes so long. I'm not trying to compete with povray of course, just doing some experiments as it comes really cheap (95% of the code is from blueprint). It could still be useful to have an alternative :) Here's another render, this time with correct colors (i was skewing them in previous render :P) Thanks :) I dealt with full quality povray renders and i know what that mean :)
  2. Yes, it's Chrome. I think it's becouse the file is new (obviously) and the server i'm hosting it sees very little traffic (it's a personal space of mine). I still think google should apply presumption of innocence, but that's another story. Strange, you have a 64bit setup but can't run the 64 bit executable? Maybe you have a 32bit java installed? You could check by opening the command prompt and entering the command: java -d64 -version I'm not sure what those are. Possibly some part that could not be found.. Could you post a screenshot of the problem if you have the time? Thanks :)
  3. You missed the frontpage news ? :P It's a roleplay game where you build stuff to get points and resources. Nice stuff :)
  4. well thanks :) yes, it's a moc of mine, the Octan Mule X4. It's my first entry for Andromeda's Gate. You can find a little comic strip about it (and building instructions!) here.
  5. Hi there, while working on blueprint i had the idea to try and pass the model geometry to a simple free java renderer, Sunflow. It's a small software but kind of cool and super easy to integrate. I did a quick hack and this is the result, i tought i might share it with you. What do you think? It's far from POV, but it's also quite fast, this render took less than two minutes (1024x768, average pc). Perhaps it could be something between the terrible LDD screenshots and the high quality POV renders, if i ever find the time to make it into a proper program. The original
  6. Installed, great little addition! There's a minor issue: if i use the "Very big icons" view, the size of the thumbnail is the same as the "big icons" view, so it's way smaller than the surrounding. Perhaps it should be scaled up?
  7. LOL, that doesn't look like 100x100.. try again! :)
  8. those seamless doors and legs are super! very nice spaceship
  9. love the plot twist, rock creatures that don't trigger organic life sensors, awesome great hovercraft and also great work with the glow
  10. great little station! i like it!
  11. So we are settled to build on H5? I'm already preparing my second entry :P Looks like i'll need to bricklink some Octan marked parts if i keep with this game :)
  12. Yes, partly on Benny and Emmet, but i also took inspiration from Spongebob: always smiling and taking it good despite the oppressive and exploiting corporation. I think it makes for a different character than usual :) Thanks! To think they were taken with my trusty nexus 4..! Thanks everybody for your feedback, very very appreciated!
  13. Planet: Farmolis (i hope some in-character humor is permitted :) if not, let me know) (man i love the idea of using the comic format but... it's sooo much work! I don't know if i'll to this again) Octan Mule X4 Edit: Building instructions:
  14. Finally :) Name: Andy Rigel Job: Pilot Faction: Octan Corp. Pilot Andy Rigel reporting in! Avatar: And now let's hope i can take decent pics of white models..
  15. A question: can i build for Farmolis, our homeworld? I would like to start the story there, before moving to anywhere you guys need. If i understood correctly there are no dominion points in the homeworlds to start with, so the build would not waste points..
  16. You can get it by clicking the "sigfig" link under you username in the player and planet index :) PS i haven't entered the game yet (finding the time to take the pictures!) but i'll be Octan :)
  17. I have some questions on the entries: i understood they have to be some sort of narrative of your character, right? so putting just a picture of your model with the avatar is not enought i guess? How many picture should we post? Is it possible to present the entry in the form of a comic (with speech baloon etc)? Also, how do we know how many point the entry takes? Will the judges reply to the thread? Thanks, sorry if they are stupid questions.
  18. so unusual :) coo! I've just built my first elves set today, looking forward to make some elves style moc!
  19. this is beyond awesome! Kudos to all organizers of the game, it look like it was a lot of work to set up everything, but it looks great! I'm also a little worried about the color scheme requirements, i hope there will be some tolerance on it. I'll surely enter the game, i hope to have some time this weekend! even if i'll not be much active i guess.
  20. you cannot actually export in PDF, but you can export in png, with the Export PNG command. The program will create a serie of images with the building pages, that you can copy around (or upload) and use without any support. It was never supposed to be necessary to have the program to use the instructions :) Btw i was experimenting with PDF just the some days ago, it doesn't look hard, maybe i'll implement it, even if i don't really use it.
  21. New version ready :) Here's the new version of Blueprint. The main changes are: unlimited undo/redo. This may still have a couple of little bugs but usually works perfectly. Feels much more like a professional program now! better memory management. Turns out i was.. ehm.. wasting quite a lot of memory by keeping all the geometries in memory in different formats.. uh.. multiple times.. but hey enough details, the program should be faster and use much less memory now. There is probably more margin to save but that's enought for now. flexible part support! Chain, tubes, hoses etc should render correctly in most cases now. Page setup is now available in program (before it was only limitedly available from the settings file). You can specify page size and separate zoom value for assemblies and part lists. better import of LXF files: no more empty submodels and now it supports subgroups small bug fixing I've also written a tutorial explaining basic use and workflow. You can currently find it here: http://bricksafe.com...eprint/Tutorial (it's basically a collection of commented screenshot) Let me know if you find any bug or problem! You can download the new version here.
  22. it's like the little prince :) great work man!
  23. top quality work, love every single detail
  24. great to hear it handled 2400 parts :) (that's probably the biggest file ever opened with Blueprint :P) It's clear that the max size of openable projects vary greatly with the system and probably with the project characteristics. Looking forward for improvements suggestions! I'm currently working mainly on bringing the "undo" feature, which required refactoring of a LOT of code. Also added an interface to change page size and project level "zooming" for assemblies and parts in part list (currently only hackerable in the config file). I guess in a couple of week i could release a new version.
