  1. You can make it in four quarters, each on its separate baseplate, and connect the modules by technic pins. This way you can make an easily accessible interior as well: narrow hallways, tombs, etc.
  2. Ah, feels good to see this message again
  3. You know... you can attach them to each other, that's what Lego does best... (Sorry, couldn't resist) But 50 x 50 is indeed the largest, but hasn't been produced for decades, also it doesn't fit Lego's 'dimensions system' very well... stuff tends to be multiples of 8 and 16, especially when it comes to baseplates.
  4. Nicely spotted. Indeed: the top blue line on the plane appears to be constructed from tiles. I guess you'll be able to just take the roof off and that it isn't hinged.
  5. The red roof indeed adds some color to the whole structure, but are the beams(?) sticking out of the sides (represented by 1 x 1 round bricks) also supposed to be red. Wouldn't they look better in brown. Furthermore, I absolutely like the interior a lot. Looks very finished even though it's relatively 'simple'.
  6. Good point! Thanks for the reassurance.
  7. Probably a crazy idea, but wouldn't TLG consider spending some tens of thousands euros per year to keep a dedicated Lego image hosting site up and running, in exchange for all the inspiration they get from what the community comes up with and spotting talent that they could recruit for the company? For them it's probably peanuts, altough I guess that TLG sponsoring could hurt the independence of such a site, but as long as what's allowed on Brickshelf now would be allowed on a TLG sponsored site, I personally would be fine with that. But perhaps the more talented builders would move somewhere else.
  8. The horizontal 'stripes' makes in certainly look more realistic, I just don't like the vertical gaps when you put two or more of those wheels together. TLG could have really made them much more versatile if they thought twice while designing them for the Vikings(?) theme...
  9. Thanks for the hi-res pictures. Not much new (except the City impulse sets) to me content-wise. The fig that comes with the 'Smart' car is a BIG disappointment: how many more of those silly 'beardies' do we need? But did you notice they still sell the 2005 fire truck and fire car in 2010? This is a first in like 20 years that a set has lasted so long (except for baseplates and the like)!
  10. I think it would be more their disadvantage on price per piece ratio compared to clone brands than among Lego sets.
  11. Nice little bakery. I really like how you've kept the interior style the same as the Winter Toy shop. The oven door is really nice too.
  12. I really wish Kevin Loch (does he still run BS?) would post somewhere... he's not a star at communication And... I'd really like Brickshelf to return to what it was: no non-sense, reliable, Lego image hosting that every AFOL uses (but considering the reactions here, I guess that's not going to happen).
  13. Nice truck. Your Scania design is really good. What I don't like about the tank is the gaps in between the wheels, it just isn't smooth enough (not your fault, it's TLG to blame).
  14. Great work on the bathtub (wheel arches, flower decoration). I have to agree on the arm.
  15. Bluecoat soldier, Pirate (both sides, since in the first wave there will also be a Cowboy and an 'Indian), and a Roman soldier will be likely choices for the historical themes.
  16. Priceless quotes I bet TLG is already noting this down as a success, given all the discussion and speculation among AFOLs. Why is it so hard to wait? ... or to quote Eric Cartman waiting for the release of the Nintendo Wii: "Come on, come on..."
  17. If this is really true, it will be hideously expensive to get the whole collection on your own without trading. But then again: I guess it's the idea that you'll start trading with friends (fellow AFOLs on EB ). Any statistician who feels like calculating how many bags you need to buy to be 99% sure that you'll get them all if head body and legs are randomly distributed across packs? Or would they simply have 16 different bags with body parts, so that you'll always get a clowns head together with a robot body and a diver's feet? All this speculation... guess we'll just have to wait... and I hate waiting...

    Port Knox

Nice peaceful scene, packed on such a small area. What I like is the pooring water effect and especially the SNOT paved street.

One of the most creative ideas so far! Good work. Serious contender in the small category.
  20. That's a whale of a shark I really like all the detailing you did on the decks of the ship. You provided a nice cross-section. Really outstanding.
  21. So many great last minute entries. Again, a very nice idea for this contest (although not as original as Blackmoor's stranded ship, but still nice). I really like all the 'life' around the ship. And the building is also really well done.
  22. Hooray for complete minifigs per bag. Boohoo for no feeling bags Ah well, saves me the embarrassment of going to the store and trying to feel what fig is inside. May I ask where you got the info? Or have you even seen the bags?
  23. There'll be a second batch of figs. There is bound to be a pirate related fig in it, and I'm betting it'll be a bluecoat.
  24. Haha, very original idea for a MOC. Now build and Ikea around it
  25. As I also said on LowLUG: Excellent build. The dome turned out really nicely and I love that it has a detailed interior.
