That purple one is like... Amazing. [Edit] In regard to spraying pieces.... It would take quite some time to get the finish right, and you will probably only get a handful of placements before it would chip, so it would be a single time build, with little or no mistakes. I have spray paint, so I might try it out when the weather gets better (so probably next week)

I've recently got back into Lego and have had 3 grey 1/2 bush pieces crack while under no stress (other than being on an axle) These were brand new pieces. Other than these I've not had a problem. Yay for spares.

Is that possible? I haven't even made a simple gear box, as I wouldn't know where to start, but making one that would shift for more torque when needed? I don't think there would be enough room in the chassis for it... It would have to be a new build from scratch, right?

Honestly, the differentials kinda make it slightly more challenging. I have been thinking about changing them, though I wasn't sure what with. I will try it out and see how it goes when the new parts arrive. :)

I have had a look through those threads, I was going to buy a set of new tyres, but they are far more pricey over here in the UK. I had a good glance through the 9398 thread, however I could do with a refresher, thanks. :) Thanks for that, I have a video uploading to YouTube at the moment. Thanks for that Blakbird, good to know. The new motors arrived for the 4x4, though currently struggling for pieces for the adjustment :(. will see how I get on lol.

Thanks for that reply. I don't have a 'local' hobby store, but there is always Ebay. I have 'air-fix' glue (plastic) if that would do the same job? Onto the ratio then... using 8/24 with XL motors would make it hideously slow.... Would stock be better or even 16/16? I've seen video's but not many using XL motors, they all seem quite sketchy about applying them to the model. I may have to experiement once I have the parts. This seems like a reasonable option to try before glue, as I'd rather not risk damaging or even heavily marking the plastics. 50p is nothing compaired to what I have spent on Technic in the last week. :)

Hey guys, newbie here! As per my introduction, I've come back to Lego after at least 10 years. I picked up the 9398 as a spontaneous purchase for my greedy self the other day *yay* It was a very fun build, took just over a day, as I work and stuff. So far I have played with a few gear ratios and have settled with the drive ratio of 8/24, for torque. However I'm currently having trouble with the rims slipping on the tyres when put under force, like a step or a large incline. Does anyone have a fix for this? On a side note, how do the XL motors work on the 9398, with the ratio 8/24? I purchased loads of motors for the 42006, and will have some spare, as I over-ordered. :) I'm looking at a few other mods for the 9398, but I will be doing one at a time. -Steve

No other interests at the moment. Considering I didn't even think about Lego before Sunday. I just purchased the 42006 as well as £100 worth of motors, ect. This alone is a slippery slope. Batteries are going to be a fortune! The Lego Systems 'box' used to be a wide range of models, but I think over time parts have gone missing so there wont be a single model worth trying to rebuild. I'd just crush it with the 4x4 anyway. :) -Steve

Thanks for the welcome! It looks like I may need to butter up the right people regarding the Bionicles. I live in Kent, used to live in West Midlands. :) I managed to sort through all the Technic and Bionicle into part types. Took 3 hours. I'll cry when it gets round to re-building the models.

Good day! I'm Steve. A few days ago I was walking around a shopping centre (UK) and went into the Lego store to buy a new keyring for the lady, as her Indiana 'lego' Jones lost a leg and an arm. Disappointed by all of these we decided to walk around the store, where I came across a beast of a Lego model, the 9398. I spent a good 30 minutes debating if I should be buying it, just after spending a fortune on our 5th anniversary of us being together (yay). We left the store only to return a few hours later and I purchased it, along with a MineCraft lego set (for the miss) and 3 build your own lego men which will be made into DIY keyrings. So when we got back home I went 12 year old Rambo on the Technic set. Building it inbetween work and life was hard work, but 24 hours later and it was finished. I love it. Since it being finished I figured that most of the gears could be changed out, so I climbed into the loft and pulled my lego box down. to my dismay, I no longer had the gears that I thought I had, so I ordered them online. I've even looked at getting different tires, as the ones included seem a little pants. However, they are quite expensive over on this side of the pond. I have many hobbies. I build and fix PC's/laptops but that may now be replaced by Lego. I know I'm along the newbies, but I hope to come one of your friends in the near future. PS. Do people still like Bionicle? I seem to have plenty of sets/half sets that I no longer want. Kind regards -Steve
