  1. The 6 sets of wave 1 are now up for pre-order on TRU's Canadian web site with a shipping date of June 1st.
  2. Interesting factors to consider. Thanks for the input, all! Sounds like white would get dirtier quicker but black would show the dust more. Sounds like black with a glass door might be the way to go.
  3. So I am looking into buying a large bookcase and another similar large unit with a bunch of square niche-like shelves. Both will be used for displaying my LEGO collection and MOCs. I also will be purchasing a new desk and chair (these will both be black). I would like my bookcase/unit to be black so to match my other stuff, but I was just wondering how that might affect the aesthetics of my displays. At first it seemed logical to go with black, as colours tend to pop like crazy on black surfaces. Then I remembered how almost every MOC is photographed around entirely white backgrounds, probably to create that negative space and focus all attention on the bricks and not the area around them. I would imagine the white would look cleaner, but the black might look more realistic for space displays or things in dark caves (upcoming Space Police and Power Miners). I also don't like the idea of white furniture, as it is harder on the eyes. This is the logic behind my current presumptions, so any further reasoning I haven't mentioned would be appreciated. What are your opinions on the issue of black vs white display shelves? Perhaps someone could post pics of their collection to demonstrate a thing or two. If the overwhelming concensus is that white is the way to go, then I might just get a white chair/desk instead. I will be moving out next year and would like all my stuff to more or less match.
  4. I find those compartments to be too small. I had something similar but ended up ditching it because those compartments filled up way too fast. I just don't need to sort that specifically. There becomes a point where you can't find things because they are too sorted, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I've been on a massive crusade of sorting. I'm using those 7 drawer towers you see a lot of, with office drawer separators in some of the smaller drawers for my really tiny bits. I'm guessing I should have around 6-8 of these towers full by the time I'm done. It's a heck of a lot of work, but it's rewarding to see it come together. I will for sure post pics when I'm done.
  5. I agree with the majority on this wave. As much as I absolutely love the first wave (own and adore every set and their great functions), these new sets don't exactly have me stoked right now. The Titanium Rig is the only one I would even think of displaying with my current sets, and even then it would be the clear loser of the bunch. The saw thing is hideous; it looks like no amount of mods can save that thing. As for the Crystal King, I just might pick it up and take a crack at completely rebuilding him my way. Any chance that these are still gonna see some post-prelim changes? If not, the only decent thing to come out of these will be the mid size monsters, and even then they aren't amazing. If this is all wave 2 has to offer, I also forsee a swift end to this line .
  6. Pliskin? As in... Iroquois Pliskin? That would be way too awesome.
  7. Picked up the PM Claw Digger, Thunder Driller, and Crystal Sweeper yesterday, and I absolutely adore them all. This is the first time I've bought sets to build and not for parts in a long time. The Claw Digger is my fav of the three, but I will for sure be picking up the rest ASAP. LEGO really hit the nail on the head with this theme, despite low expectations.
