  1. Yep the top pic is from the Go Miniman Go video. I like the look of the ISS set- and if those 2x4 tile solar panels are printed then that will be enough to make me buy it. I can't see them expecting a kid to stick on over 16 identical stickers. Then again, if they were printed then we probably wouldn't have ended up with stickered panels in the recent City house.
  2. What's the deal with shipping from Barnes and Noble? On their site they have shipping costs for books, vhs, music, games/consoles, but no toys. Can anyone enlighten me?
  3. Now that there's one in Calgary it's only a matter of time.
  4. Yup, I totally agree. Basebrick is excellent!
  5. I've downloaded Brickstore, I just want to ask two questions: -To keep track of my inventory do I have to manually open the inventory of every set I own and copy+paste the parts into one sheet? If so it seems like too much work and I'll just use Basebrick, which is indeed very nice, apart from problems it seems to have consolidating all the different colours of a part I have under a single "group". -How do I get rid of the Tier P1 / Tier Q1 etc. columns?
  6. I tend to think of minifigs as having the same proportions as midget humans I'm using a rough scale of 1.33 for a Combino tram I'm building at the moment. By the way, thanks for making that converter DaveE, I bookmarked it a while ago and find it very useful for converting bricks to studs! Useful for large scale snot building.
  7. Ah, hello there! I'm assuming the source of this info is LEGO Australia? Any idea how they will evaluate this "test"? A PaB would be nice, but of course a proper LEGO Store would be better. I have heard from someone on the Mugs List that a source told them that the LEGO Store creation team has been pre-booked to create a store in Sydney in 2013/14, but I don't know how true that is.
  8. The new LEGO section in the renovated Melbourne CBD Myer opened yesterday, and boy is it lurvly! Here are some piccies for you Adelaidians, New South Welshmen, Banana Benders etc. to drool over... (click on the photo!)
  9. These are just things that other people have typed into the survey and it wants to know what you think of these ideas. I voted for more frequent surveys for AFOLS/TFOLS on desired parts/colours, and more uncommon colours in sets, e.g. sand blue.
  10. Welcome to the forums Mark! I also live in Victoria, in Melbourne. You will very likely be interested in Brickvention. Stay tuned to that site for details on Brickvention 2011, which will be in January next year. Also, if you live near the Melbourne Metro area you might be interested in MUGS
  11. Time for me to report in. I went to Myer Melbourne CBD yesterday and got a Hagrid's Hut, Hogwarts Express and The Burrow. I would have got the others but they had none left. After I left they had 1 hut, about 15 Expresses and about 15 Burrows. Armed with my Myer One extra 10% offer, there was some confusion over how the discount worked (on the ladies' part). I told them I should get 30% off because 20% and 10% make 30%. They said that was wrong and the 10% comes off the discounted price. Then somehow the purchase came to a few cents over $200, a 31% discount, so I have no idea how that works, but I am pleased nonetheless. I am currently on my way to a Target to get the remaining sets at 20% off. Lucky Myer had the more expensive ones! Also, the lady in Myer told me that level 3 of the Bourke St Store (where the LEGO section will be moving) is opening on October 21. According to a member of the MUGS list, there will be a "LEGO Store within a store" inside the madeover Bourke St store, including a shipping crate of sculptures from the Czech Republic and proper LEGO fitout. However it won't be a proper store and apparently is unlikely to feature a PaB. Personally I'm super excited to see this new LEGO section, and I hope its success launches proper LEGO stores in Aus. EDIT: Also, this scrambling to buy Emporiums at RRP is making me not regret getting it at RRP from S@H a while back :) I'd be kicking myself if I could have saved $50...
  12. Thanks for posting those nice pics dhc6, before today I had no idea what that element did!
  13. Unfortunately I live on the other side of the world from there But hopefully a Nürnberger reading this thread will be able to help you out

On a side note, when LEGO started building Stores in the early noughties, they had to close some around 2005 because they had "expanded too quickly". I wonder why they're doing this again then?
  15. MyerOne members should be getting a docket in the mail that lets you get a further 10% off the already reduced prices there. Also I thought I'd have a pricing whine - has anyone realised that at $230, the Australian price for the passenger train is $30 more than the Swedish price? Yes, the SWEDISH PRICE! Goodness me, I don't know what the world is coming too. Luckily, the MyerOne offer brings the train down to almost $150.
  16. Whoahhh   This is such an amazing set, just like the old HP sets in that it is such a treasure trove of nice parts! And printed parts! Sand green! Olivander! And at such a reasonable price too. I'll defs be picking one of these up. Nice to have an answer as to the set Svelte was hinting at a while ago.
  17. I don't think Peeron's "winding down" in the same way Lugnet has. Lugnet has become disused because LEGO fans wanted less formal / more specific forums for different themes, while there is still strong support for Peeron within the AFOL community, and a desire to keep using it. Peeron is starting to seem not all that crash-hot because it's lacking in new inventories and updates, and I think this has something to do with the inaction of the admins. I have submitted corrections, scans and inventories quite a few times, and only one has appeared on the site. It's enough to make anyone stop bothering to complete inventories! If everyone's updates get ignored then is it any surprise the site isn't a thriving hub of the community like Brickset? What Peeron really needs is new admins to deal promptly with submissions and keep the inventories in good order. I for one would be willing! If this happened then Peeron would receive more submissions and once more become the best website for keeping track of one's inventory. Or perhaps Peeron should look into an open-edit model like Wikipedia? Then changes would be instant and those updating the inventories would be able to see the results of their labour immediately. Peeron is by far the web's best site for seeing how many of which part you have, and which sets they come from. And the interface is lovely and easy to use, considering its age. Does anyone know how I could more directly contact one of the current admins, because emailing the inv@... email address feels like talking to a brick wall.
  18. You could use MLCAD. Monorail curves have recently been added to the LDRAW parts library. You'd need to hop to and get someone (or yourself) to model ramps and points though to complete the track collection.
  19. They were $4 each last week, but $3.75 yesterday when I went to get an extra of one I wanted. Didn't make a difference to me though because I got the $4 ones when they were 20% off
  20. Series 2 figs are starting to pop up in Melbourne Targets. They were $3.20 each today if you were lucky enough to find them before the sale finished.
  21. Excellent MOC, even if the subject matter is somewhat disturbing.. The idea of a loud and proud slaughterhouse in the middle of a CC town amuses me in a twisted Burtonesque sort of way :S Also I don't see why everyone's feeling queasy. If you eat meat, chances are it comes from somewhere far worse than a happy ABS modular run by minifigs :S Already am :P
  22. No idea. Has it got something to do with this I wonder: http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=846 Both sets contain the same linear actuators. Otherwise maybe they're being crafty and are planning to have a sale soon which they don't want to include that set in. I'd say that's unlikely though.
  23. If anyone has seen the HP Boardgame in a Melbourne Myer could they please give an ahoy? There were none in Chaddy on wednesday and none in the cbd yesterday.
  24. ^^ Thanks for that mega necessary bump LDD. It says how long it took in his first post. No need to bump a 1,5 year old thread.
  25. I saw this on Google news. All I will say is that I reckon it was a Megablock, confused with a LEGO brick by a clueless doctor. LEGO bricks are a force of good after all.
