LEGO: The Adventures of Clutch Powers
dieselboy m replied to Ryan_T's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Oh, that looks cool, I hadn't heard of that. Looking forward to checking it out later this year. Planning to make another trip to Legoland around June. Would still hope for another movie sequel though. -
LEGO: The Adventures of Clutch Powers

So, I watched it, and without getting into details right now, I loved it, was geeking out a lot while watching it. It was as fun as I was hoping for. So cool seeing the LEGO universe (System anyway) brought to life like that. Knowing very well that it's meant for kids, as Deinonychus mentioned, it isn't dumbed down, any adult with a child like sense of fun and imagination would enjoy it. And as Deinonychus also mentioned, there's a little nod to AFOLs early on, and a Star Wars joke as well (which I thought was really cool, being a huge SW fan). Also really cool seeing the various current themes used (like Power Miners, Agents, City of course, Space Police, Fantasy Era Castle, and more) and seeing particular sets from those various themes. Not much I didn't like about it, just really good fun, and lots of humor (very, very important). Would have liked to see more take place in LEGO City, but maybe next time. Really liking the characters of Clutch and his team, really hope we'll see them made into actual minifigs. I'll probably watch it again very soon. More thoughts later! :) -
LEGO: The Adventures of Clutch Powers

Picked up the DVD at Walmart today for $15.00. Based on the trailers and clips from the site, it looks like a really fun LEGO movie, looking forward to watching it. Will let you all know what I thought of it after I see it. -
I'm not too particular about something being 100% true to the source material, I love the Haloverse, but I only play the game casually (and only multiplayer). Although I could do without all the arctic versions simply because I've never been much of a fan of snow/arctic themes. I think it's cool dropping it to make it more than just Halo Wars. The Haloverse is pretty vast, and there's lots of cool stuff. I think they're on the right track. Loved all the Toy Fair showings (with the exception of the arctic versions that I don't need), and can't wait for them to hit shelves. Yeah, the reps really don't care too much for the source material, and it's not really their job to. They get press material to learn, and that's pretty much the extent of that. I experienced this first hand, while I was in the Philippines for over a year a couple years back, I headed a LEGO group and actually partnered with the local distributors of LEGO there and was involved with some of their shows and events.

Agents was probably my favorite new theme in a long time, and one of my all time favorite themes. But, I'm not sad to see the theme end. I'm more sad that the story won't continue through various medias rather than there not being any more sets. I bought almost every set (I only never got 2008's Deep Sea Quest and haven't yet gotten Robo Attack and Aerial Defense Unit), and most of them I got just for the mini figs and accessories, and maybe one vehicle (as most of them contained more than one vehicle) and I'd sell the rest of the set. I loved the theme, story and characters, but I really don't need that many different vehicles for them. That's why I'm not so disappointed that there's no further sets coming, I really wouldn't care for more vehicles. More characters could be cool, but there's enough characters already anyway. So, I'm just gonna enjoy what I've got, and until a better action theme comes along, Agents'll stay my favorite.

World Racers Summer 2010
dieselboy m replied to The Green Brick Giant's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
That's what's cool about it, it's not just cars, it's specialized vehicles for racing in various environments. That said, I'm probably most excited for this 2010 theme. I'm a big fan of action/combat racing. I grew up on Speed Racer and similar stuff, and this is that kind of theme exactly. Can't wait. :) -
Spotted these while at Toys R Us today. I picked up the Iron Man Mark IV set, will shoot a review shortly.

If anyone's interested, here's a photo review video I did of the Limited Edition Steel Spartan. - It's kind of a test as I've typically done photo and text reviews at my blog site. But, I'm wanting to cater more to the YouTube audience, but don't want to produce the average video review that's low lit and where you watch someone's hands playing with the toy the whole time, hehe. So, please check it out, and let me know what you think. I'll be making more soon with all my Mega Boks Halo sets, LEGO, other toys like Transformers, GI Joe, and more.
-
The sets are not bad, actually. Of course, not as high quality as LEGO, but I wouldn't say they're bad quality at all. Mega Bloks has improved a lot, and these Halo sets are very good.

So, I finally got around to building my Halo sets. I was excited about the Brute Chopper so I built that one first. Curious though, did your Brute Chopper also come with a purple 2x4 brick with some sort of serial number printing on it? The Halo sets have extra pieces like LEGO sets do, but they're spares of pieces actually used in the set. My Brute Chopper had a purple 2x4 brick with serial number printing. Wonder what that's about.

Awesome! I actually didn't even know these new sets were coming. I've been hoping for more, but hadn't heard anything about the continuation of the line 'til now. And all that I found at the Target was that single Brute Chopper, but now I'll probably go check out a few more Target stores later. I'm not very familiar with a lot of these vehicles from Halo Wars. That Wolverine and Gremlin look pretty cool though. I'm really into the Halo universe, but just a casual gamer, and I only play multiplayer. I'm most excited about the new weapons (geeking out over the MA5 rifle), figs, and the Covenant vehicles (those are my favorite to use when I play). The Wraith will be nice to have.

Was at Target today and surprised to find new a Halo Wars set... Pretty excited to see the other new sets too...

I've got five of the [smaller] Halo sets (the Warthog being the largest), plus the limited edition mail away Spartan. Huge fan of the Halo-verse (not a die hard gamer though), and not a LEGO purist as I love toys of all ranges. Not going to get into that whole issue, I'm just posting to say I'll probably shoot some review pics before long. Nothing too detailed, just a box pic and a few pics of the completed models. I haven't opened most of them yet, just a couple to play with the figs.

So, I went to McDonald's for a Happy Meal and was surprised to find that the toys were now LEGO Racers, last time I got a Happy Meal just days ago it was still the Beanie Babies toys. Anyway, I got #2 Rally Fire for now, so here's a few pics. They're very similar to the General Mills cereal LEGO Racers from a few months back, three pieces, but these are larger (the cereal ones were about 3/4 of the real Tiny Turbos, whereas these are about 7/8 their size). I'll do a review of the whole set after I've collected them all (check them out at the official Happy Meal site here).

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies. Sorry I haven't replied yet or added more pics. I spent some time earlier today taking more pics of the booth and its displays. As well as a few more close up shots of the Toy Story and Prince Of Persia stuff. I'll try to get those pics up tomorrow.

Actually, a couple days ago Comic-Con International released a limited number of passes on their official eBay account due to cancellations and such. I also had originally missed out on getting tickets because of the sell out, but was alerted to the passes released and took advantage of the deal right away. There were quite a lot actually, but as I write this there are only two 4 day memberships left, check them out here. So, if anyone is in the area and wants to go but missed out on tickets before, you still have a chance to get passes at cost. Did you do the San Diego Comic-Con International logo sculpture? I love it.

Here are just a few photos I took earlier tonight from Preview Night at SDCC. I will update it with more photos throughout the week as I'm attending all days of the Con. LEGO @ San Diego Comic-Con International 2009

Congrats! That's my most wanted from the set also. I went out the same night I found out about these and got a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, I scored the red Racer. I'll add a review soon as well.

LEGO in Film & TV: Index of Appearances
dieselboy m replied to Izzy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
For anyone interested, I posted a video of it - here. -
I hadn't seen this post and only found out about these today when I saw the commercial on TV (while watching Spongebob, hehe). I readied my camera so that when the commercial shows again I can record it. Here's the video for anyone interested - http://smutoys.multiply.com/video/item/21/...cers_Commercial I'm gonna go see if these are out in stores already, if so I'll grab one.
