Don't be a jerk it's It's Christmas
GIR 3691 replied to Emperor Claudius Rome's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Very well done. Great use of mosaic builds for the backgrounds. -
Aww man... they just announced the fire station! My budget allows for one modular building a year, so I'll be waiting until 2011 for this one. :(

The pointedness and the little dip on top make it a moustache to me, but I totally see the mouth. A lot of faces with lines under the mouth create the same effect.

Is it possible to get it without box or instructions? Seems a tad wasteful and expensive compared to their previous method. I'm perfectly happy with a PDF instruction and the model shipped in a plain cardboard box.

It looks like they only expire the points if you don't buy anything for 24 months, which is better than points expire after 24 moths. If I'm reading right, as long as you go to a Lego store every 2 years and buy something, your points are safe. I'd like to throw my hat into the bucket for expanding this to S@H. It looks like they may do that in the future, since they ask for your e-mail account. If it's the same e-mail as your S@H account, it shouldn't be too hard to link them.

We're going to be seeing a lot of ODST customs with that helmet. It is a great looking new piece, and I hope it's readily available.

Petition: We want the Pirates Advent Calender in the United States
GIR 3691 replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
SIGNED! Because online petitions always work. :D -
I really like the odd numbered-wide aspect. The overall shape is perfect, from the truck bed to the front end. I'd love to see it with a trailer.

1.Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter by DutchRebel 2.Death Star by Baronsat 3.Minifig-scale Slayn & Korpil B-Wing by RenegadeClone 4.z74 Speederbike by Lars 5.Forward Position by Davor Man that was difficult to narrow down. I tried to get each from a different category and no repeat builders or builds.

The car is great! Nice use of the string elements for the megaphone. Jake and Elliot really need sunglasses though.

I just went to the LEGO store and didn't see this item, but I got the chrome Stormtrooper and some keychains, all of which had looser joints and those weird indents in the arms. All the sets I've gotten in the last few months have had regular minifigs, so I'm guessing it's just the non-set minifigs that are like this. The chrome minifig was really disappointing since they're charging $10 for it, and it uses these cheaper processes.

LUGBULK - New concept for the AFOL community
GIR 3691 replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I need to find a LUG. This seems pretty cool. I am imagining a lot of the parts ordered will be in dark tan, dark green, and other rare or expensive colors. This could do wonders for diversity of color and elements used in big displays and large-scale MOCs. I wish they had a bulk system open to whomever wanted it, like PAB with bulk discounts. I would also think that if BL ended up with large amounts of parts that could only be obtained through the program, they'd know people were re-selling them. But in the same vein, why are they not allowed to re-sell the bricks at a later date? They expect LUGs to keep the parts forever and ever? -
That was fantastic! The animation was flawless, the sets were very well designed (I particularly liked the crashed ship,) the characters were great, the lighing was great, and most importantly, the story was a great twist and I had no idea where it was going until it was revealed. Great stuff! I am thoroughly impressed.

... you spent hours perfecting a MOC and want to show it off to somebody, and you freak out because they pick it up and it completely falls apart in their hands because they grabbed it in the wrong spot. Happened to me several times.

That is a very impressive layout. My town layout consists right now of Green Grocer on a shelf, and several building fronts that I have used in animations as a city, but that's it. I plan on expanding with the other city buildings available to make a city block. You are much more ambitious here. Good luck, and I am eager to see it finished.

Space Police 3 is a good theme, but only the cargo truck with hidden laser really wows me. It doesn't really fit with my stylistic preferences for space. It's pretty good, and at least we are getting space sets again, but I think the sets and characters could be designed a little better. The police uniforms are kinda' lame and the monsters aren't doing anything for me.

Mmm... chrome.

Do you have pictures of the interior, if the sections are removable?

The year's not over yet. Might be a surprise exclusive on the way.

Right click on the picture you want and go to "copy image location" to get a link to just the picture. Or just go to Bricklink for a reference picture. That's be best head option, long as it has to be flesh. You might be able to get away with any of these, too: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb207 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb281 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb213 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb041 (really too bad this wasn't produced in flesh, it would work very well) The torso would work for Mac, with light tan legs. Also could get away with one of these torsos: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973px179c01 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=adv041 (he bears quite a resemblance, if you can mod the yellow to flesh) Brickforge makes a beret now, in numerous colors. They have a minimum order, but it's totally worth it to check out their site and pick up a few of their other accessories while there. Hope I've been some help. Best thing to do with custom minifigs (purist ones anyway) is to search Bricklink for existing elements that you can use.

The Youtube version is also a bit easier to see them with, since you can do full screen video in full resolution. It almost looks like the top right of the package has a wampa face on it.

Possible worldwide ban on the sale of lego on ebay?
GIR 3691 replied to Duck's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Doesn't sound like LEGO is one of the retailers mentioned, and it's impossible to tell from the above e-mail. Seems unlikely that they would push for this. This sounds more like companies that make high-priced electronics and such. -
They had large blue (wedge?) slopes at the Palisades Mall store a couple of years ago, and no mirrored piece. I asked why and was told that LEGO sends them the parts, they have no control over getting the "left" kind and not the "right" to go along with them. It's been so long since I've been to a PaB wall, I can't remember finding any unusual pieces.

Looks like I'll be getting this set. The double cheese slope does seem like a useless piece. I can't think of anything that it can do that two 1x1's can't. That bus looks awesome.
