Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
UsernameMDM replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
Like I said, it gives high level PCs something to look forward to instead of retiring a character. If you don't like it, just don't play it. ;) Sandy doesn't like it, so it probably won't pass, but I think I am going to flesh the idea out anyway just for fun. -

Yeah, we got that. You're one for talking about 'roleplaying with yourself.' What about Finnegan, Barty, CMP's chicken, etc? If you played Diablo II, you most likely utilized the Mercenaries. This is what a Partisan would be like. Plus it could add more roleplay. -

Exactly. Think of the Partisan as a living, breathing artefact or a familiar. Imagine a noble knight in battle with his page/squire, or a ranger and his apprentice. How about a cleric and their acolyte? -

How often will you get to play your second character in the same quest as your original? As to the "point" - to have fun! Adds a little flavor with the Houses, etc. -

Kinda like having a familiar/sidekick, like on Torchlight. Also, it gives an incentive for PCs/QMs to keep the Houses alive in their story arcs, as they seem to be important to Sandy's overall story. I am thinking MOST PCs won't be able to get Exceptional reputation until they are lvl 50-60, so it's something else to look forward to. -

I figured you would say that! That's why I was saying that the PCs' dice rolls would be the Partisans'. Like if a PC rolled a 1, the partisan would strike the same target. If a PC rolled a 5, the partisan would take half the damage the PC takes, etc. It wouldn't be another roll of dice or set of instructions for another person in the order. -

It's a BIG work in progress, but how about: House Partisan You're dedication to the major Houses in Eubric has not gone unnoticed. You now have a representative from your patron House accompanying you at all times! Basically, you get to play a second character that follows your PC around. It would require a level and EXCEPTIONAL reputation with a house (complete 4 successful quests). They would effectively be half your level/HP/ether. They could use the weapons/artefacts in your inventory, but scaled back a bit (something like only 1 artefact at a time, etc). The actions are directly linked to the PC's rolls. As for the Partisan: You could choose 3 options: melee, ranged, or magic user. Melee could use only melee weapons and has to fight from the front row. Ranged could only use ranged weapons and has to fight from the back row. Magic user could only use gems/scrolls and has to fight from the back row. OR Individual house flavors: Hinckwells - Bodyguard - your life is their honor Bonapartes - Grenadier - lobs bombs to damage/stricken your enemies Shadeaux - Acolyte - uses their vampiric abilities to keep you alive Ziegfrieds - Apprentice - magic weaves itself around you Guild of Invision - Provides mixtures for stat bonuses Jei Pei - Automaton - deals elemental damage with supplied gems. Can carry/use up to 3 gems at one time. Wolfgang - Thief - Steals gold and lets you pocket the profits Like I said, big work in progress. -

I deleted Hoke's age. Didn't feel like keeping up with it since there isn't a definitive enough time lapse in game for me to understand. He started as 21, which I understand is when knighthood is bestowed.
-
I don't think Hoke has used a tool, besides a bedroll, other than scavenging around after battles to find more loot.
-
Hoke leans over and looks into the bag. He straightens up. Then gives Thormanil a sidelong glance, then Alexandre.
-
Has any QM had an instance in a quest where a PC needed to use a tool from the Marketplace to succeed (besides a bedroll to regain HP & Ether)?
-
Hoke looks to Arthur with a slight chuckle. "See what I mean?"
-
Yep, just have to get my hands on that piece. Hopefully, it will work with the visor-ed helmet or a samurai helmet. And that is what I was going for with Hoke: humble origins/newb to grizzled veteran. Gems, yes, scrolls, no. Found that out the 'hard' way.
-
Excuses, excuses.... You should probably quit mucking around and start Quest 103 already.
-
Guess you didn't bother to click the link...

"Indeed it was. I'm no king maker or country shaper, but I was hired to protect that bridge. Hopefully that was a just decision."
-
You can take the H off as it's a 1x1 round tile. Would be need to put a pearl silver/gold 1x1 round tile for decoration. OR, like I want to do with Hoke's shield, put a trans-(insert appropriate color here) 1x1 round tile if there is an imbued elemental gem for immunities

Does anyone know if the new minifig scale Hero Factory armor will fit on a normal minifig with the knight helmet/visor combo? http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=15339&in=M

"Even if you were there, you wouldn't know the whole story," Hoke said as he walked up to the group.
-
Ooooooh...makes sense.
-
Is Arthur giving himself presents, or did I miss something?
-
"I am unaware of any exchange. Mayhaps you can leave the gold with the barkeep as I, hopefully, will not be in the Hall much longer."
-
"Something was left for you." Hoke hands Grimwald the Robes of the Disciple of Ennoc.
