  1. I have two questions. 1: I understand multiple entries is allowed as long as it's in different categories. But can someone win multiple prizes by winning in more categories ? 2: I haven't been on this forum long enough to know what exactly defines a "pirate". We know Vikings were also technically pirates, and they were the masters of pillaging. Some of the first real pirates appeared in the Mediterranean and were from Africa. And there were also Chinese pirates. Are these allowed or are we to stick with the classic pirates from Lego? Just a question, I'm good even if the above are not allowed. Thanks! I can't wait to get building, I'm already having ideas.
  2. I should have been more explicit, it's not entirely based on the HL car, only 90% inspired by it. As you can see the in-game car doesn't have a gun on top either. As for the garden gnomes, shove 'em in the trunk Pencoin: I'm not that crazy about using minifigs in my creations, that's why I'm not an avid builder of minifig scales mocs. Thanks for all the comments! :D P.S. the headlights are viking helmets .... <_<
  3. Thank you for the comments! Gus & Zero: The name of the ship comes from a real ship that was sunk during WWII and is now a common diver's attraction. I know this because my job consists of building these shipwrecks in 3D program for diver's maps (these maps are destined for tourists and diver groups that want to explore shipwrecks, these maps are water resistant and show the swimming path that should be taken to explore the shipwreck).
  4. Thank you everyone! Gus: Surprisingly, the long stretch of cliff is the strongest part of the MOC, while I was sorting it a month ago that was the last part to come apart. It has some technic beams in the middle for good support. Cmdr. Tac: Thanks! It was quite ironic, the moderators there rejected it after a month, probably because they thought it was stolen. Thanks, Aliencat, I try to build in most themes.

    UCS V-wing

Thanks everyone for the comments! CopMike: Thank you, I bet it would have looked good next to the official models, I built it to be in the same scale as the UCS X-wing. Provisorak: It's not really fair to compare it to the official one, that was a pretty weak attempt at a minifig scale one, while mine is around 5-6 times larger. Sorry but I can't take any more pictures, I've taken it apart after the contest. Cpt.Pegleg: Thank you! Sure, Here's the contest thread. One of my favorites were the ARC-170 and GG's starfighter.

  7. I'm not a camera specialist, I just wanted to add this to the conversation: The quality of a picture does does not only depend on a good camera, but also the photographer's skills with any given camera. I own an 6 megapixel HP R717 camera, from the reviews I've read, HP is not known for their digital cameras. I've learned through experience how to use the camera, what are it's flaws and how to take a good picture with it. I know so many people who own the latest technology in digital cameras and don't know how to use them. Sinner is right on all three points. Flash kills any MOC, natural light source is your friend. Not necessarily direct sunlight, but as long as the light is not diffuse, but comes from only one direction, it will add to your MOC. Preparing to photograph the moc with a uniform background, and finally edit and crop the pictures. Back to the cameras. I've had my HP camera for 3-4 years now, I've been using it to photograph my MOCs for the last two years and I'm pleased with the results: The only reason I plan on buying a new camera is because there is a Fujifilm S5800 on sale for 200$ and I'd feel bad if I'd miss on the opportunity.

    UCS V-wing

I decided to post some of my more diverse creations in different categories here on EB for those who are curious what themes I prefer, and what my building style is. The MOCs I have chosen might not be the most representative for my style of build, some might be even two years old, and some of my influence has changed since then. Despite the fact that these might not be the freshest of my creations, and some of you might have already seen them, I hope that you all enjoy them and gather inspiration from them. I built this UCS scale V-wing when I first joined FBTB to enter my first contest. The UCS contest was held at that time. The tough competition that I had did somewhat bring my moral down, but in the end my model got 3rd place (with Pepa Quinn's ARC on 1st place, and Wintermoog's tri-fighter on 2nd). Brickshelf gallery The ship was mostly built out of parts from the new B-wing and V-wing sets that I owned at that time. I tried to incorporate as many functions to it as I could. I added folding wings, that would hold in place at 90degrees with the use of a technic spring mechanism. It also featured landing gear that would fold out if the lower engine was rotated. And a number of opening maintenance hatches. It also had one of the most detailed cockpits I have ever built (even until now). Thanks for viewing :) .

"Nedleh point was discovered forty years ago. A place of military importance, being situated at the crossroad of two of the largest empires and the Stoneguard. Also dangerously close to some of the feral Orc camps. Nedleh point, due to it's before mentioned situation, has served as a trading post, and has some of the best wares in all the south-western regions. The rock of Nedleh is a rare phenomenon that can happen only with special types of floating rocks. From rocks that spawn to life, to rocks that float through the clouds, the "Lapis volat banalis" is a species of rock that floats only after all water dries out of it. In this special case, the rock has been trying to escape, but due to the tide, it never gets to completely dry out, thus creating the elongated shape. The same phenomenon has been found elsewhere, but none are as inhabitable as this. Geologists and mages alike have clarified that there is no danger of the rock collapsing. " The small island is an important trading post for adventurers and a tempting victim for the pillaging Orcs. Access to the top is made either by crane, or for some of the empires richest, by flying machines, the outpost being equipped with a dock for them. Thanks for viewing :) . The "David Tucker' was once a feared pirate gunboat. It used to operate in the Hokkaido sector, successfully attacking armed convoys in unprotected hyperspace lanes. A large force was mobilized to neutralize the ship. Although it put up a hard fight, it's engines were disabled and immobilized. The gunboat was later destroyed in 5609 for an artificial space reef program. Thanks for viewing :) .

Although I haven't played the later installments of Half-Life. After watching some trailers and in-game footage, one vehicle grabbed my attention. It was Gordon's pimped and post-apocaliptized (?) Dodge challenger. This is the only real-life based (except for the post-apocalypse part :P ) car I have ever built. I still have this mode built and displayed on one of my shelves. Thanks for viewing :) .
  12. Well I'm utterly teased by the prizes! I'm in huge need of enlarging my pirates collection. So there are actually 12 prizes for 12 contestants who might win? What exactly does "creative critic" mean? something like most original MOC?
  13. Thank you for the warm welcome everyone! As for my favorite themes, I'll let my MOCs speak for themselves :) .
  14. Hi everyone! I just joined today and was almost going to post this, since it's my latest MOC. But thanks for posting it, actually it got the most attention here, most forums I posted it in got a maximum of four comments. I'm glad everyone likes it. I still have it built and displayed along with the Caribbean clipper docked next to it. One more moc that got posted on EB was my battle of bandwagons :D which as I've seen also got some attention here. Thanks for all the comments and I hope my MOCs inspire as many of you. Gen. Knowledge: yes, I am a LEGO ambassador for FBTB :) Mr Phes: Actually I'm active on numerous forums for at least two years, and I'm active on flickr, I guess it's just coincidence that some haven't seen my MOCs. Kpt. Pegleg: I'm not really sure who Kim T is ...
  15. Hi everyone, my name is Adrian Florea, I go by olog on most communities, and I'm glad I'm finally here with fellow European Lego fans. I'd first like to say that the rumors about my wooden leg are not true. I'm a 22 year old carbon based life form (that doesn't say too much, does it?) from Romania, and it would be great to meet some fellow AFOLs from around this area. If Romanian members aren't available at the moment, I'll take Mongolian AFOLs too, I hear they're great fun to hang out with. This is my Flickr page, and as soon as I finish building something new, I'll make sure to post it here too. I'm sure I must have forgotten to add something here...
