  1. They'd need the specific license (or at least the okay from Disney) and nothing has been announced.
  2. The mansion is good because the figures are good and you can recognise what it is instantly despite a small build. The others are eh, the boat is okay if you like boats. It's mainly the minifigs I'm in for.
  3. You posted this in the wrong topic, so it's the end of the world. No need to be so horribly unwelcoming. He's already apologised if he's posted it in the wrong place, so what's the point of jumping on him for it? You could just as easily answer his question rather than being sarcastic towards him. Lego fans really are nasty sometimes, even though the company is such a friendly one. EDIT: Furthered by your PM to me: Either stop being unpleasant, or just stop posting. There is no room for that on discussion forums. But anyway, get the Falcon. It was released way before the palace, so is more likely to get discontinued soon, and is just generally better value for money. Great figures and build, and an iconic ship, compared to the great figures of the Palace, but a quite simplistic build and lacking the iconic-ness of the Falcon.
  4. What's the source for the Ewok Village? Didn't it stem from people on here mistaking a Kashykk set for Endor, and then going on about how they'd like an Ewok Village and would pay up to £200 for one? At what point did people start to take as more than just fantasising? Unless I'm wrong about the original source.
  5. I mean the obsessing over whether it's technically Red Five or not. I mean, I enjoy discussing details like that, but it's a bit like....come on, people. An X-Wing is an X-Wing. That's all. :)
  6. I can't believe people are actually having this conversation.
  7. But then those of us who didn't get it the first time around have the opportunity to get it now. I agree that the line shouldn't be in the habit of rereleasing stuff, though. Not because old sets should keep their value/have a sort of 'exclusivity' to them, but just because there are a LOT of other ships that could do with being released. I'd be annoyed if the X-Wing was YET ANOTHER UCS rerelease, but it isn't - it's the first, so, right now, I'm okay with it. But this is Star Wars. There are kids who are VERY into it - they'll know who TC-14 is, they'll appreciate the white armour Boba Fett, they might even think the originals are the best. And if they see the promotion and think 'Oh, that's enough of a bonus for me to want to buy some sets', then they clearly DO want the promotional item, even if they might not completely know the character etc. Heck, I'm sure there are loads of AFOLs who got the TC-14 figure without having heard of/seen the character before. The age of the consumer is irrelevant to this. Lol, alright. I'd just be grateful that Lego, a children's toyline, is giving people the opportunity to get promotional figures of obscure characters, and is giving people generally high-quality, detailed versions of ships in their UCS line. No other Lego line has these kind of big, complicated models, and I think, to a degree, people are taking them for granted now. Lego could probably be absolutely fine focussing solely on their minifig lines - heck, they could probably focus entirely on Clone Wars sets and do very well. So, I see OT sets and, to a greater extent, UCS as bonuses for older fans. Not a given, not something to really complain about even if they are remakes. The fact that those lines continue is something to be thankful for in itself. I'm not saying we should lap up low-quality sets, but generally these sets consistently have great designs.
  8. There' still a definite air of sexism to it, though. Part of that is supporting the objectification of men (and that being 'the joke), the thread title of 'One for the ladies', as well as the audience being solely females. If the gender roles were switched, this moc wouldn't be considered 'funny', it'd be a strip club. The whole thing is kind of a can of worms. Then again, it makes a change from people going on about how HAWT the Princess Leia slave minifig is. That said, it IS a good moc. Clever use of a torso for a shirt.
  9. It's seems a lot more 'cheap advertisement for sets' than stuff like The Empire Strikes Out, which, whilst still an advertisement for sets, has a lot of wit and care taken over its production.
  10. The timeframe doesn't matter - the conversation had already flowed on, so you didn't need to tell them off for it. But 'sass' you? Er, I'm not doing that. All I was saying was that you don't really need to moderate a situation that has already resolved itself. And I really don't like this 'I'm the mod so you aren't allowed to say anything about me/query my judgement' attitude. It creates a really negative atmosphere, stifles discussion and is really just unwelcoming. The most enjoyable sites are ones where mods treat members as equals - not taking every opportunity to tell people off where it isn't necessary. And your response to me is simply needlessly aggressive. Had I insulted you then such an approach might be ok, but all I did was query it. Its upsetting and worrying that that is considered an okay way to respond to members. At our cores we are both Lego fans, so lets drop all the 'I'm a mod so shut up' approach and respond to eachother as intelligent adults. :)
  11. I don't get your point at all. I don't think the X-Wing is particularly boring at all, and I don't know why you're using 'iconic' as a criticism. The previous UCS version came out aaaaages ago, so there's nothing wrong with a rerelease. And what's your problem with kids getting the May 4th bonus? They are intended for kids...... and I think calling them 'stupid kids' comes off as incredibly miserable and just plain nasty, as well as being a complete opposition to the entire point, motto and backbone of Lego. You sound the sort of AFOL who'd take the last Millenium Falcon set out of a child's hands in the middle of the store....
  12. The discussion had kind of moved on from those brief comments anyway.... But yeah, Black Widow minifig kinda sucks, it's way off on everything really.
  13. It has to sell, though. So simply using the UCS series to make big ships isn't a good direction to go in. They have to be recognisable and iconic - they have to encourage buyers to shell out the extra money, and I doubt they'd do so for quite a lot of your suggestions. We probably aren't going to get a bigger/more detailed Sandcrawler than we already have, and that's really just minifig scale, and not an instantly recognisable/visually appealing design compared to a B-Wing, the Falcon or Slave I.
  14. Well, there would certainly be a way for them to get around that, I'm sure. If not, just release a Slave I with a display stand. My main reason for wanting a UCS version is so it can be displayed upright.
  15. I think UCS sets should limit themselves to the most iconic vehicles - so an AT-AT is a good choice, whilst the Sandcrawler is not. I really am surprised we got a B-Wing before a Slave I, though. The Slave I is such a great, unique design. Then again, so is the B-Wing. I don't know if I'll get this X-Wing - I sold my old minifig one to buy the recently released minifig one, but now might wait and get this....
  16. Free planet set with any purchase of £20 or more on Star Wars Lego at Toys R Us. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean I can get three planet sets for the £60 I'd be spending on a Rancor Pit. I'm waiting for that set to be cheaper, but if I got three planets for free then I'd go for it. Still, ONE free one is some incentive.
  17. I'm not disappointed with the mansion because we always knew it'd be small. It was never going to be a huge intricate set like the Arkham Asylum set. At least it's obvious what it is, and the minifigs are great.
  18. Who's the guy in the boat?
  19. Gotta be the Skiff - a great redesign, four great figs, very reasonable price.
  20. I think that's a really tenuous link. For one thing, this complaint about the Lego set was made by a handful of people and nothing significant came of it - it was reported almost as a funny story, which it was. To find it hilarious is fine, as it has no connection or influence or anything on peaceful relations between countries. It's a tenuous link.
  21. Aha, that was my comment. Glad you liked it. But yeah, this is a jokey nonsense story, BUT the amount of casual racism in this thread and on the same topic on other discussion forums is shocking.
