I've read the diary, I'm just bemoaning the fact that you can't get Doctor Octogonapus without buying a more expensive set. Looks like it to me.

Holy snap he does. It's a biggun, too. :O And yeah, people have commented that they look like differently-colored Tridax pods. Also the red box guy looks kinda like a Piraka. Can't wait to see bigger images. x3

Why is Mr. Octopus in all the big and most likely more expensive sets? ;_; But anyway, yeah, those look awesome. The diver base (?) looks a bit strange, though.

This is something more geared toward a fantasy pirates or PotC line than a classic pirates line, but there needs to be more fish people; minifigs with attributes of various undersea creatures. The Atlantis figs show that it can be done, and this could add some more awesomeness to the Pirates brand. Clawed arms could be made with a part similar to this, a new peg leg piece could be added, and/or new head molds or prints. And maybe some new musket or pistol pieces that don't have the big trumpet thing at the end. I think having a variety would look nice.

They're actually rather old-ish pieces, even in black. Again, awesome set that I really want.

Doubting that they're images of the new line. They look more like prototypes or just random images thrown up there for effect. Like the guys in the background of the winter Glatorian canisters.

Not quite sure I see the similarities, but the head looks a bit like the Kraahkan.

What does Mr. Cthulhu look like with his "legs" reversed? Better? Worse?

Any way of getting a Davy Jones fig and figs that look like his crew members is fine with me (I want to buy several Manta Man impulses to make such a crew). Plus the possibility of new skeleton pieces if they go for sets based on the first movie. I also want a seaweed-covered Jonesey ship. :3

Except that happens almost every year for a lot of themes. TLG takes advantage of the Christmas/Hanukkah/whatever rush to release their sets so more people will buy them as gifts. They're still 2010 sets.
