Great review! I have one question--are the hats on Sparrow and the others able to be removed from the hair pieces? Or are they molded together?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 4 discussion
Still Raindrop replied to legokuate's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I was at the LEGO store yesterday and managed to find most of what I was looking for just fine. However, in my unfruitful search for the gnome, I found about three or four mad scientists! (only bought one) -
EB Members Trading Collectable Minifigs Portal
Still Raindrop replied to WhiteFang's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I don't have any collectible minifigures that I need; however, I do have a few that I would be willing to trade. See my other topic for specifics. -
Their realization that yellow looks like nudity makes it all the more confusing as to why they would give the new Atlantis divers yellow arms I voted for the pantsless guy, by the way.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 4 discussion

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but LEGO made a sly reference to their double-sided heads in the Hazmat guy's profile on the minifigs website. -
Eurobricks: Strategic change!
Still Raindrop replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
Bah--this is all terrible compared to the earlier Hello Kitty stuff from the 70s. Why don't they just re-release the old Hello Kitty products? That's what all true AFOHKs want! -
What I wonder is, with other LEGO themes seeming to start to switch to regular plates rather than baseplates, will the modular series be doing the same thing? Honestly, I would kind of prefer regular plates, as it would aid in making more realistic street scenes. On the other hand, modular buildings with plates wouldn't be compatible with the older ones, and would therefore no longer be modular.

18) Wrestler, Karate Master & Sumo Wrestler Entry (Build by gabe)--One Point Very nice dojo--great architecture 19) Magician, Mime Artist & Tennis Player Entry (Build by CorneliusMurdock) I love all the little details, especially the garden gnome! 20) Nurse, Surfer & Space Villain Entry (Build by Darkblane) Brilliant, and very well built. -

7) Pilot Entry (Build by Dan Church)--One Point Great use of forced perspective, and that balloon looks beautiful! 25) Pilot Entry (Build by mookage)--One Point Very nice. I like the size of the plane that is hinted at; very clever just to do a small section (which is nevertheless very realistic) 41) Space Alien Entry (Build by Atin) Fantastic and horrific. Great job on the tentacles. And great job, everyone! -
Brilliant! The story was fun, and the model was phenomenal! Such detail! Very expertly done. I like how you mixed in non-town minifigures to give it a very zany feel--it captured the LEGO spirit.

I'm sure this has all been brought up before, but I really am rather disappointed with the new Qui-Gon face. The original was one of the few faces from the first batch of LEGO Star Wars that actually captured the actor's look brilliantly. The new Obi-Wan face is brilliant--it looks a lot like Ewan McGregor--but that makes the new Qui-Gon face that much more disappointing; particularly since his old face in flesh costs so much on BL. I also question the figure choice in the podracing set. Anakin, Watto, Wald, and Sebulba are great, but the Mos Espa Podrace set of 1999 gave us Qui-Gon, Padme, and Jar Jar--all of whom were in that scene in the movie. In this one we get Obi-Wan, who wasn't even there. Shmi would have been nice. Nevertheless, the podracers set is beautiful, and I think I'm going to try to save up for it.

I received this set as a gift yesterday, and I built it last night and this morning. Truly a beautiful set (although terribly overpriced--if I hadn't gotten it for free, I wouldn't have gotten it at all). I think that, if the color scheme had been more realistic, the architecture itself wouldn't have stood out as much. I like it as it is, and it's now proudly displayed in my apartment.

TLG looking for good storytellers!
Still Raindrop replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have not received my set yet, although I am a bit farther away from Denmark than you are (I'm in the United States). What was your set? I wonder if they'll be the same across the board. -
Wow. Even though I don't spend very much on castle, I will have to pick up that blacksmith set. Is that bucket a new mold? It would be perfect for my beach scene.

I think that's just a reflection of his eyebrow/wrinkles. -
I'm not sure what I think. I mean, Fabuland did have sort of a return with the Mickey Mouse sets . . . not strictly Fabuland, but pretty darn close. I don't think those sold too well, did they? We never saw more than one wave.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
Still Raindrop replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I recently found these here in Colorado Springs (finally!), and some of the bags had dots, and others didn't. It was very confusing, and I didn't end up getting the tennis player like I wanted. I did get all the others I wanted, though (and I have two of the fishermen--I spent $12 and got the same amount of fishermen as people who spend $60!). -
Standardized Action Theme?
Still Raindrop replied to Searcher's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I thought we weren't supposed to talk about the writing process we did for LEGO . . . wasn't that what the NDA and the other sheet were for? -
Good review. I picked this up yesterday and, though I dismantled it for parts already, I really do like the catapult function. Very clever. I was disappointed to see the square-hilt katana, though--when I looked in the individual figure boxes (with see-through plastic), I saw the old-style katana in the new silver color, and I had my hopes on getting one of those. Alas. . . .

Thanks--I'm not entirely sure how to work with that much SNOT.

Indeed, I'm a bit unhappy with that, as well. I don't think I have enough green plates to fix it at the moment, but I'll put more on my Bricklink list.

Hello, everyone! Recently I've been fiddling around with microscale. I wanted to build a lighthouse, but didn't have enough pieces to make one in minifig scale. So here is Rossville's first microscale building: Cape Donna Lighthouse (named after my wife's aunt, who loves lighthouses). Let me know what you think.

You, Your City, and Your Special Someone
Still Raindrop replied to LEGO Guy Bri's topic in LEGO Town
I strongly disagree with this, and I'm sure many others here do, too. Not only is this idea rather degrading (you say "For other people it's really nothing more than a kid's toy (like small matchbox car or a even a teddybear - let's face it, that's what the women think)"), but it's impractical. I couldn't hide my love for LEGO from my wife--we live together in a small apartment! Anyway, my wife knew I was an AFOL before we even got engaged, and she saw the city at my parents' house. She doesn't build with LEGO, but she loves the things I build. -
Good work, Murdoch. John and Ringo look fantastic. Paul's torso looks a little off (it should be a dark grey suit), as does George's face, but I suppose those are the difficulties in working with LDD> Oh, and darth yogi, I'm pretty sure that's 50 kph.

Which is your favourite police station
Still Raindrop replied to The Yellow Brick's topic in LEGO Town
Canada_7, that's because the police station in LEGO Island was, in fact, 6598. It brings back memories for me--I never owned the set, but I loved playing LEGO Island. If I could have voted for it, I would have, but since this is about the City police stations, I chose the one that perhaps reminds me most of 6598.
