Zero Damage (Ridiculously lucky here) Bers, his system malfunctioning, manages to straighten his posture and steel his nerves enough to wallop the Dread Bear that was assaulting him. Polaris moves in to follow up with her boomerang, but fails to connect with her target as the weapon returns to her. Yelana takes to the wind and disperses from combat with the murderous toy. Despite the calm, the scrapped play-things continue their advance, driving deep into the heroes field. Crystalgon is dispelled by the remaining Caustic Bear's slashes while the remaining Dread Bear peps up the hulking endo-skeleton as it moves in to eviscerate Yelana. A deft block with her rifle absorbs the attack, but it is clear that the dead-code robot was out for blood as it presses further towards her. The battle continues... "... Merei is right." Zaria bluntly comments. "We are not freeing the innocents enthralled by this beast unless we sever the connection they have. I will keep the lesser Hydras at bay while you two take time freeing the captured crew." Zaria confidently turns to Varen and Viper. "Alright, you two. This is about to get rough, but with proper coordination we can handle this. Viper," Zaria points to Hydra Sprout B. "That's your target. Varen, you have a tendency to take heavy damage. Let me rectify that, if only temporarily." Zaria casts Interposing Ward on Varen as she invokes Varuth's name.

Zaria looked to Merei sternly. She shook her head in anger, scowling: not at Merei, but in general disdain towards the Hydra. She was ready to fight and send this creature to its final journey, one she silently prayed Varuth would plague with troubles. As much as Varuth could show the way, he could equally hinder it. "If this creature's goal is to spread it's tendrils across the stars, Merei, then you know which action I support taking."

Two Damage The combat continues ferociously as Bers revs his chainsword, striking one of the stuffed bears, sending electrical sparks and stuffing flying as the toy's mechanical wires are exposed. Yelana's rifle rips through one of the stuffed animals as the peal of sniper rounds echo through the scrapyard. Polaris quickly follows up on Bers attack as she throws an icy cold boomerang on the mangy toy bear barely holding itself together. The boomerang cracks against the toy's head, dropping it as the weapon returns to Polaris. The remaining toys get into melee range as Yelana is assailed by one of the gooey, dripping toys sharpened claws and teeth while Polaris is the recipient of the hulking endo-skeletons serrated claws. Bers is blasted by his assailant with a blast of energy and noise akin to the sound of nails on a chalk board. A ringing, disorienting cacophony washes over Bers as the stuffed toy emits a tinny, canned giggle. The battle continues... Zaria looked to Viper suspiciously, giving him a wary look of understanding as the series of events that set her down this path were revealed to her. Turning back to the Hydra, she looked at what lay before her, not sure who to address, but still off put by its presence. "Then if what you desire is survival, then your goal is doomed to fail." Zaria responds. "Not from the might of my blade or the strength of my faith, but rather the force of gravity around us. This vessel is between the gravitational pull of two stars. Eventually the pull will rip this... domain asunder and you along with it, along with everyone else on this vessel. I do not know if you can survive in the cold abyss of space, but there is nothing out there for you to feed upon once you are out there. Eventually you will be drawn into the orbit of one of the two suns, where you will burn into nothingness." Zaria still gripped her sword as she considered her next action carefully. This creature was evil. It's destructive path through the ship, ripping and tearing through people was enough reason to slay the beast, sapient or not. Would it have done the same in different circumstances? She was certain it would if this was what it was doing now. She believed it saw itself as the predator in its analogy and would tear them limb from limb if given the chance. What she didn't know if she could do was convince her comrades of this position and save the crew members.

Zaria grips her sword tightly. She wasn't sure if this was a better or worse discovery than she initially envisioned, but it unsettled her nonetheless. She thought back to the Hydra attacking the chimera and sneered. "At least we now know it's sapient." She growled. If there's was one thing about this that bothered her most, it was this creature's ability to think and reason. It meant it was not doing these deeds through primal instinct, but with purpose and reason.

Endo Skeleton Dashes to E6 The heroes move into positions as Bers dashes ahead as his chainsword roars to life. Moving on top of a colossal tire, Yelana places a well aimed shot onto one of the mechanical teddy bears as it begins to clamber towards her and her fellow adventurers, sending fluff, rusted metal, and knotted fur flying. Still, with an uncanny, static-riddled giggle it presses on. Polaris summons a familiar: a large, glimmering snowflake. It isn't long before the scrapped toys are on the heroes. Bers is assaulted on multiple angles as one of the green bears jabs through his armour, piercing him with a toxic looking, oozing claw. A black furred bear crawls over the couch and gets close enough to blast him with an ear piercing bang from its music box. However, shortly afterwards the sound of short circuiting and sparking wire cut the magical blast short. Meanwhile, Crystalgon is hammered by an encroaching stuffed bear while another succeeds at causing the summoned creature to fall asleep, it's form drifting slower, more rhythmically to the crackly lullaby being emitted from it's music box. The large, creaking endoskeleton rushes past Bers, deeper into the heroes position. The battle continues... "If there is residue of blaster fire in here it means there were people in here attacking something." Zaria approaches the eviscerated crate cautiously, peering inside.

“Then we should head to the cargo container cautiously. The last thing we need is to run into another of those larger Hydra creatures and not be ready to face it.” Zaria takes a moment to adjust her belts and pouches before nodding to the rest of the group, moving to the cargo hold.”

"Hmm..." Fix-It looks over MILES with interest, feeling at certain joints and metals with a leather gloved hand. "I could... perhaps see places that could use an upgrade. I have a lot on my plate, but if you give me some time I am certain I could present you with something." At the mention of his "birth" name, Fix-It scratches his beard as he thinks. "Hmm... not really. No." Yelana Insight Check (DC: 2): (3,3,3,4) One Success Although Yelana's insight is correct that 500 credits is a lot of money to throw around, she cannot gleam anything else from the transaction taking place. "A shotgun?!" Fix-It stammers out, hesitantly reaching out for the weapon. "I-I am not sure I should be handling such a deadly weapon. "I am in agreement with Fix-It." Avgustus grabs the shotgun before the tinkerer can grab it, opening it and examining the breach before cocking the weapon. "Should anything make it to us, I have enough training to defend us. We shall head inside-" "I shall not have you ruin the surprise for the children!" Fix-It demands, towering over Avgustus in an act of intimidation. The professor frowns. "Fine. Is there some other place we can lay low?" Meerabeau points to the a small shack off the main building. "The maintenance shed! We can head there and wait this out, if it is anything at all." "You can never be too cautious, my dear." Avgustus turns to the heroes. "Right, Heroica, best you knock before opening the maintenance shed door. I'd hate to greet you with mouthful of lead. May the gods watch over you." Avgustus turns leads the tinker and his assistant towards the maintenance shed while the heroes prepare for whatever comes next. Yelana Perception Check (DC: 2): (1,3,3,4 +1 Success) Two Successes Bers Perception Check (DC: 2): (3,3,4,6) Two Successes Looking into the piles of scrap surrounding the metal workshop, the heroes can make out small shapes scrambling through the trash. The sounds of scampering feet and scraping iron echo through the yard. It becomes apparent quickly that with the heroes out in the open, they are ripe for an ambush. Moving towards a more advantageous position, the party prepares to confront whatever is skulking in the scrap. A screeching, siren-like sound erupts around them as ghoulish, deformed toys made of fur and metal emerge from the scrap heaps, their paws serrated into formidable weapons, and their voice boxes emitting a horrible static. Lurching out of the pile, an eight foot tall endo-skeleton shambles forward, it's hydraulic presses and rotting fur ripping from it as it opens its jaw filled with jagged metal teeth. Zaria squints suspiciously at the eye stalk. She moves around it and into the operating station. "What are we looking at, Kirwin?" Zaria asks.

Zaria remorsefully purses her lips. "Why the Joyful Hotelier would decide to litter the paths of mortals with grief, tragedy, and violence? I do not know fully. Most of us are here but a brief moment, for a tiny fraction of time. So much pain. So much sorrow. So much joy. So much fleeting happiness. We are all just fragile things, soft and small..." Zaria reaches into her bag and produces the birthday gift Duncan left for Dean as well as his badge. "No life can be spent without feeling grief or misery. What matters is we keep moving on. This gift means nothing to me, but clearly your friend meant for you to have this." Zaria silently shakes her head in disbelief. "Do you understand me?" She asks the eye. She expects no response, but this Hydra had proven far more wily and intelligent than she initially thought.

Tell me what the issue is and I'll see to it that the issue is resolved." "I beg your pardon, sir. Mr. Fix-It? I am Avgustus Leopold, Professor at the University of Ghintara." Avgustus speaks up as he bows respectfully, the weight of his bag clearly straining him. "If the young miss is also handing you something, I would request you look at this projector. The sooner the better." "Hmm..." Fix-It opens the satchel and looks over the broken projector. "This can certainly be fixed... I do have quite a backlog-" "Then let me expedite the process." Avgustus cuts Fix-It off as he reaches into his pant pocket and reveals a fine leather wallet, from which he produces 500 physical credits. "Holy crap! That kind of money doesn't come easy!" Meerabeau's eyes widen like saucers as Avgustus forcibly places the money in Fix-It's hands. "I... well, er... I don't believe I can accept such a generous offer-" "You're going to accept it. I would not want to shortchange the most brilliant tinker on Aluriel." Fix-It looks at the money in his hands awkwardly, as if the physical cash was as revolting as it was tempting. "Well... when you put it like-" From a large heap of junk, a deafening clatter erupts as scrap metal and dented plastic clang in the air, breaking the awkward tension. It is at this point the heroes realize they're the only ones left in Fix-It's scrap yard, the rest of the crowd having left during their discussion. "Do you have guard dogs around here? Something that could make that racket?" "No, we don't." Meerabeau frowns. "We keep the scrap fairly well stacked." She eyes the perimeter of the yard, looking for movement. "Squirrels and other varmints tend to avoid our scrap yard. Nothing to eat, and nothing to nest in."
