Licensed Technic Sets.
The_Skirrid replied to JTS's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Actually the model isn't de-weaponised - it has the twin .30cal Vickers machine guns that fire through the prop, and was considered by most authorities to be a fighter. The 'bombs' used by Camel's pilots were often hand held Mills bombs aka grenades. Late war variants included the ability to carry four Cooper bombs [but it was still called a ground attack aircraft]. -
Licensed Technic Sets.
The_Skirrid replied to JTS's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, that shape of Defender is due for replacement next year [even though this year was the 65th anniversary for the Land Rover], I wouldn't be surprised if some version of a Lego Land Rover set made it into production next year. My only gripe is that licensing adds a few quid, non-licensed sets have a better price per piece ratio generally. Comparing the Unimog and Mobile Crane MkII bears this out. -
The 8466 Offroader
The_Skirrid replied to Darth Dino's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Agreed, needs the steering mod and better shocks. It sits very knock-kneed after a week, the original springs were a bit too weak. I bought one a while ago as a B-Model with no extra parts for the A-Model at all. Took about a tenner on BL to get the A-Model done. I like it a lot. The door function is groovy, it looks purposeful, and takes my niece sitting on it well. -
Finally managed to track down an 8288 for Β£28 from ebay, should arrive shortly. I have no idea why I wanted it in my dark ages, but looking forward to it. Also set 744 was a massive want, I lusted after it for a year - I think for the trans dark blue windscreen on the truck, it just looked so cool [but when you're ten a massive yellow truck with a huge dish on top is cool anyway].

Well, some guy is selling five [item 171094559722] on evilbay UK at Β£100 markup. Le sigh. One or two per buyer seems fair enough, but five?

I can't say I use Peeron much these days, but the rebrickable one is pretty accurate and agrees with the BL one [Full disclosure I've never had one of these MISB, and help with the inventories for Rebrickable]. The Peeron inventory has a few minor errors. Personally I'd negotiate a discount, I've never had much luck with missing pieces from auctions, the vendors are usually moving on sets, and don't know much more, or have the spares to hand. As long as you have the rare expensive bits like the flex cable, steering arm and control box that would be my advice. EDIT:- If you want some tyres and a flex end PM me your address, I just got a load in a bulk buy of dirty bits [which are now all clean!].

technic 8878 e 8887
The_Skirrid replied to legomania94's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
8878 and 8887. Set Display prices in Eur in your settings page for BL, or use XE.com as they do. -
I'll amend the 42009 to use the correct motor, we try and follow BL numbering systems to keep the parts ordering simple and BL changed their part numbering for the motor recently. Hope this helps. Which panel couldn't you add Balrog?Oh, I'm at 94.3%, and I'm buying this bad boy. Nothing beats the smell of a new boxed set being opened.

Dakar trucks have very low centres of gravity, almost everything above the chassis is either hollow or very very light. Mostly it's empty space with some thin panels for aerodynamics and the roll cage. They do look oddly tall, but all the weight is low. IIRC part of the FIA regs for T4/T5 is that they have to survive a 45ΒΊ side slope with no roll over.

I never really grokked Bionicle type sets in and of themselves, but they are a really good source of technic bits in out of the ordinary colours. Most go for peanuts on BL/evilbay, and can help you stash a good amount of bits for low cost.

Brick List
The_Skirrid replied to sorfri2's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Just go to the Bricklink homepage, change the dropdown menu to Catalog Items and insert what you're looking for. Bricklink, Rebrickable and Peeron etc. all have user-submitted inventories, most are pretty accurate.
