  1. Comic Con time again! This year, I got to meet Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman! They loved my figures!
  2. Quick update. I was at San Diego Comic Con last month, and got to present my creations to the Mythbusters themselves! Here's a shot of me with the Build Team. Kari is holding the figures, while Grant has the Sword Swinging Robot in his clutches. It was a great honor to meet them!
  3. I don't have the shields, but can tell you about the printing. The "dotted" printing appears to be process colors, made up of layers of different colored dots that create the final color. The solid shields are spot colors, where the ink is 100% of each color, so no pattern shows.
  4. Ok, that is just too cool!! Very nicely done. And the Huffington Post thinks so as well. Your photo made one of their lists. 17 Most Awesome Lego Creations
  5. Thanks. All the heads are true LEGO, but Adam and Jamie had a little... "trimming" done. The only custom piece is the Mythbusters plaque.
  6. OK, now I'm confused. My Brickshelf gallery appears to be empty when I log in, but the photos are still showing here. Any help? I've never used the site before.
  7. Hee hee. Thanks. And as soon as the Brickshelf folder was modified, I posted a link on my Twitter account. Within 10 minutes, GRANT HAD RETWEETED IT!! So cool!! Thanks for all the compliments! This is really inspiring me to build more "myths"!
  8. Had to do it! Seemed appropriate. It was actually Tory's face that kicked off the idea. Once I saw that in Set 8970-1 Robo Attack, I knew I had to make these. The bonus was that the other two dual-sided faces worked as well as they did. I thought about the BF beret, but I like using the standard parts. Besides, that one is a more military-style beret, while Jamie's is more form fitting. Thank you. The only pure custom piece is the decal on the Mythbusters sign. The Jamie and Adam are regular pieces, just slightly modified. Used Brasso to take off some of the facial hair on each. Same with Buster. Just cleaned off all the printing. The rest are untouched. Thank you, thank you. Gave me an excuse to watch the show over and over. "Research", of course. Thanks. Couldn't let that one go unmade. Yeah, I was pleased at the way he came together, both the white shirt and pull-over versions. Oh, Buster looks good now. Just you wait... Thanks kindly.
  9. Hey all. Now I know that others have posted custom Mythbusters minifigs, but I wanted to add my own. I'm a big fan of the show. So without further adieu, here are my figures. The group shot Buster Jamie and Adam Grant, Kari and Tory Jamie reviews the blueprints, while Adam just wants to start building Adam rides his Segway Jamie wants big boom Buster and the ton of bricks Kari and the Diet Coke/Mentos experiment Tory and his bike jump FAIL Grant and his Sword Swinging Robot Sword Swinging Robot close up Why is the Build Team so scared? Oh, that explains it Thanks for looking! I will be creating more props and experiments for them. I'll post more when I can. BRICKSHELF Folder once moderated
  10. Thanks for the responses! My plan was to make a shiny fire suit for a town figure. I guess I'll look for another method.
  11. Were they trying to remove the chrome? Sure looks that way. I was planning to get the Stormie magnet and clean him off. I may still give it a try. I've got a few varnish removers and thinners at my work. I'll do a few tests.
  12. I did a search, but couldn't find my answer. Let's say I wanted to remove the print from the torso of the chrome Stormtrooper without harming the chrome? Will Brasso be too abrasive? I'd like to end with a shiny printless torso. Suggestions? Thanks!
  13. Glad I could help. ;-) It appeared that there was a tab on the wing, and it inserted into a slot on the pack. The wing was missing from the display, so I got a fairly good look at the assembly. Wish I had thought to take photos of it. I would have gotten more detail shots, but ~kids~ wanted to look at the toys!! The nerve!!!! ;-)
  14. The MF Buzz' wings do not retract. They are a separate piece that slide into a notch on the side of the pack. I didn't get a photo, but I did see it. The hood of the Jeep appears to be 2 2x2 squares. My photo didn't come out clean, but it's the best I can tell. The Sheriff's Office / Jail on the other hand, does use a 2x4 tile, as does the wing of the spacecraft. Hope this helps!
  15. As for me, I would love to see a UCS of the desert chase truck, or the flying wing. I think those would make great models, and they were my favorite vehicles from the movies.
  16. That Ark is spectacular. I have the same one, and I'm wondering how to paint it gold like that. Any suggestions?
  17. Found all of the new sets in a So Cal Toys R Us yesterday. Bought the Cairo set in advance of payday.
  18. Rex, I know for one that I didn't see the set until I was actually at Con. I tried finding images beforehand, but had no luck. I'm also wondering if there is anything planned for this year.
  19. Yes, if you remove the poles.
  20. My oldest set. Still have it. I remember when the first minifigs came out. That's what really got me hooked.
  21. Just bought the Wing last night at the Downtown Disney store. Brown 'stache.
  22. Funny. It's one of the Sankara Stones. You can see two more in the skull behind Mola Ram.
  23. Having just purchased the Shanghai Chase set, I can see the strengths and weaknesses of each set. I love the Race for the Stolen Treasure set, as it's my favorite scene from all three movies (There was a fourth? When did that happen? Did I miss it?). I think the truck design is great, albeit a tad small. Needs a bit more room in the back for troops. I added a tailgate to it, and I think it looks more complete. I also modded an ark crate to go in the back, instead of the very inaccurate gold treasure box. I threw that thing in with my pirates sets. The Shanghai Chase has some highlights as well. Great new Indy. Black fedoras. Fairly accurate cars. If I had to choose between them though, I think I'd have to go with the Stolen Treasure. I think with the inclusion of the horse, it has some really great play value and display options.
  24. My buddy and I had a bit of fun with the Downtown Disney LEGO store a while back. Right before the Indy LEGOs were released, my buddy had bought the Motorcycle Chase set on Ebay. We took it to the LEGO store, and asked if they had any of the new Indy sets. The clerk replied, "No, they have not been released yet." Then we asked him if he'd like to see one. They are just employees. They are usually the last to know any information.
  25. When I first saw this post, I thought the poll would read: Which is your favorite Indy figure? Indiana Jones from the Motorcycle Chase set Indiana Jones from the Lost Tomb set Indiana Jones from the Race for the Stolen Treasure set Indiana Jones from the Temple Escape set Indiana Jones from the Jungle Duel set Indiana Jones from the River Chase set Indiana Jones from the Jungle Cutter set Indiana Jones from the Temple of the Crystal Skull set Indiana Jones from the Peril in Peru set Indiana Jones from the Jungle Cruiser set Indiana Jones from the SDCC Brickmaster set Indiana Jones as a keychain Vote now!! (Which I admit, would make for a very entertaining poll!! ) In the end, I voted for Indy himself. I've been waiting for this line for so long, and they nailed the Indy likeness.
