Resell it and you can buy 5 Porsches ;-)

I received two more cranes last Friday I bought off ebay. While building the port-a-potty something struck me as odd: is it just me or does anybody else find it strange, too, that the toilet actually has a window??? ;-)

Maybe you football freaks are interested in this: On June 14 a group of four "media and entertainment" students were guests on a german TV show called "TV Total", hosted by Stefan Raab (European members might know him even if they're not Germans). These four students were presenting their "graduation project", a stop-motion LEGO movie about a fictitious 2006 World Cup final "Germany vs World Stars". A clip of the show can be seen here: TV Total, June 14, 2006 The clip lasts 9:13 minutes (the first 7 seconds is a commercial) and is in German, of course. For those just interested in the movie, a clip starts at 5:12 and ends at 6:43 minutes. Commentary is in German, of course, and it features some german celebrities, which non-Europeans won't recognize. For those who don't speak German but are still interested in the whole show clip, here's a quick "walk-through" so you're not completely lost: - I don't follow that show regulary but I think Stefan Raab's "impersonating" an Angolan player with his outfit - that's not how he looks normally ;-) - The students tell a bit about their project and how they called up LEGO and asked for as many bricks as possible which TLC then sent (here Stefan Raab jokes, "Did you hear that, ladies and gentlemen? If you need bricks just call LEGO, they'll send 'em to you." To which one of the students said, "Or you can call us, we have plenty left".) - It took about 2 months to build the stadium - About 1000 minifigs are in the stands - The movie consists of 6 pictures per seconds - There are two versions out: the movies version with 10 minutes and a DVD (the second to last on the bottom of the list) with 16 minutes, 8 (!) "languages" (English, French, Spanish, Italian, and some german celebrities and fans; here's the different commentators) and extras. - The "Matrix shot" at the end of the movie clip took about two weeks to finish. They used a "stand" of modeling clay for the minifig which then took most of the two weeks to get erased. - Stefan Raabs gets two minifigs as a present, representing him and his "co-host" Elton (who you can't see in this clip) - Official Website Attention: If there's any parents here who want to show this to their kids, there is "nuditiy" in the show clip (3:24 - 3:27 minutes) and in the movie clip (about halfway through it). It's European TV afterall... Hope you enjoy it - I did *sweet*

Oh, those modest swedes... ;-)

Thanks for the review, sne - and bringing back memories ;-) This set's very simplicity to me is what made "classic" LEGO Town. It reminds me of my 6369 Auto Workhop. Back then walls consisted of five 1x8 (or 1x6) bricks, not one 1x8x5 brick. I don't have this particular set but from the looks of it I have all the bricks (except the panels - are they printed? *wub* ) to rebuild it. I don't mind the open backs of these classic sets. Yes, they didn't have a staircase if they were multi-story buildings, and yes, they only had one room per floor with very simplistic interior (at least they had interior), but they were cheap assets to the town and left lots of room for modification, too. Not to put down the nice MOCs you see at exhibition shows nowadays, but I like my city classic-ish (I know, I still owe pictures, I'm working on it).

Right here ;-) ;-)

From S@H I received one (reduced) 4888 Ocean Odyssey, one 4277645 Ice Bricks and one set of 4297431 Playing Cards (those look cool) :-)

More than all Pirates sets together >:-)

According to xe.com it's even better than "divide by 6", they say it's 54 euro. That really is a great price! 8-

Don't you hate walk off slams? ;-)

That looks like a great find! Better than what Windsor had to offer ;-) I'm, also, curious as to how much it cost...

Baltimore Orioles. And they'll suck for the 8th (or 9th?) straight season cos of their owner's "strategy". But I'm not a bandwaggoner and still like the team the best, even if they're a pain to watch sometimes... :'-( True, it's the perfect sleeping pill for me, works every time >:-)

Well, Red Sox are an enemy but at least you don't root for The Evil Empire >:-)
-
Hmm... good point... guess I'm not used to my new title yet ;-)
-
I agree. I think you'd feel home in this thread then ;-) The only thing I "care" about is that Germany gets eliminated as soon as possible...
-
I can't believe I found my way into a football related forum... From April to October it's all baseball for me. Except LEGO there's nothing else that could keep me from watching my team (suck for yet another season) :-)

Yes. But how long do you plan this contest to go? Because I do have a layout but as you surely noticed while browsing my brickshelf gallery it's not finished and it'll take some more time until it is. All I could offer is a "roughly" set up but unfinished layout (I'll need one or two days more, though). Would that qualify?
-
I just noticed that there's a wrong hyperlink behind the "Links" link on the frontpage: it has a "http//" too many in it (which is missing the colon, too, anyways). ;-)

I don't have that particular coach, but as you can see in the second picture of my layout it can lift the 7044 Rescue Chopper which has considerable weight. Unless you try the quite heavy Santa Fe cars I don't think it'll have any problems lifting train coaches. Maybe a second counterweight might help. But then I would exchange the two black Technic axles that hold the weight with Technic bricks/breams cos the axles will surely bend with more weight (they do slightly with the one weight already). I'll try one of my coaches, though, cos I'm interested in the weight limit myself.
